And with attacks like that, it's really hard to practice: the cost is high, the chance of finding an attack outside of war that reasonably simulates a war attack is low, and in war, I want to get stars for my clan, so I'm discouraged from using that attack again, even on a base that looks well-suited, which doesn't come around all that often.
So here's my idea: after the war is over (or any time after a non-war attack), for as long as the replay is still available, offer a "Retry" option in addition to "Replay". "Retry" would start the battle, with the same troops and spells as were originally used, so that the attacker could try different tactics to see what would or wouldn't work. There would be no trophies gained or lost, no loot gained, no achievements of any kind; it would just be a practice attack. And it would use the troops from the original attack, not troops from the attacker's army camps, so there would be no resource cost.
Obviously, for Clan Wars, the Replay option could not be offered until after the war was over, so that it couldn't be used to scout traps, etc., for another attacker.
It would be really excellent if you could "Retry" any attack that you could "Replay": clanmates' or enemies' Clan war attacks, or replays shared by your clanmates, in addition to your own attacks. This would be a huge boost to players who want to improve their war attacking skills.
Thank you for your consideration!
