It actually means a lot. Otherwise there wouldn't be a sticky describing ruled out ideas as well as another saying ruled out ideas will be deleted.

Now it doesn't mean it won't ever be added, however I do know that people complaining about it won't make any difference whatsoever. Neither will pointing to the list and saying "Ah ha! They implemented that."

Regarding customizable flags, if you post an idea that asks for more customizations than are currently available (such as uploading your own image), it will be rightfully targeted for deletion.

Fair enough. I agree that it is in the ruled out section, and that means that SC, at this point is not considering it. I just disagree with the reasoning everyone is giving as to why it is a poor idea. I agree with a lot of people on many things on here, and I disagree with some on many things. The nature of the beast I suppose.

Debating why an idea is ruled out is a fool's errand as SC seldom reveals the reason something is ruled out. It also makes no difference. For all I know something could be ruled out because the lead dev lost a drunken bet.

Better to not even involve yourself with such silliness.

It's probably pointless in the sense of convincing SC, but it doesn't make arguing any less fun for me. I'm more interesting in debating why possible problems with an online indicator isn't really a problem than to actually have it in th game

Again, how is it a privacy problem? If people want to not show that they're online, use invisible mode which is something that nearly every game/site has when they have an online indicator. There could also be a 'busy/do not disturb/just tapping the screen' option too

Good clans can benefit from it to type something to someone when they are on, give suggestions request specific war troops to start cooking etc.

Tell me one multiplayer mobile game which people have been constantly playing for the past 2 years or more and which makes you login to check on your stuff, while interacting socially with 50 players, some of who may hold a grudge against you if they see that you're online but not responding because you are busy doing something else.

And I'll tell you why privacy is needed.

You should also mention it's ruled out, though... With the logical explanations (privacy/coding). Some newbies might not appreciate the manner in which you undermine their "original and awesome" idea.

Edit: with everyone arguing like mad, I would like to point out that SC might have another reason for not implementing this. This reason may have little to do with privacy or coding. Since they do not tell us why, we can only speculate. If our speculations are useless, that doesn't mean it shouldn't be ruled out. It just means there is another unknown reason.

My own speculation is that these posts are appear more than usual because the surge of new members that came onto this forum recently (for some supernatural reason) see the online indicators on the forum and wonder why it isn't in Clash.

Really wish, SC would explain why each idea is ruled out honestly. It would help us improve the game and the forum atmosphere.
