I would like to suggest adding a new trap to the game. I'm not sure if this can technically fall into the trap category, but it would be invisible to the attacker, and hinder the attacker's progress like other traps.
As the tittle suggests, I am proposing a lightning rod. Several threads have been made complaining about zapping. This is when a player (generally one that is far weaker than the player being attacked) drops one or more lightning spells onto that defender's storages to get some of the loot. Especially with dark elixir, which is all concentrated into one storage, this process can be quite effective. I believe this process is unfair to the defender. As others have stated, there is absolutely no was to defend against it. Therefore, I have come up with a possible solution.
Just as with other traps, the lightning rod would be a placeable entity, which I would suggest making one square tile in size. I think the range of the rod should be set so that it's maximum protection potential would be four buildings. The rod should be able to deflect up to five lightning spells, or the total amount of lightning rods a player can buy and place should have the potential to deflect this many. For example, if a player can buy two lightning rods, the potential spell deflection should be 3 spells each, for a total of 6. Of course, it would be up to the Supercell team to work out those damage numbers. Like other traps, gold would be required to re-arm the lightning rod, and it would only reveal itself when triggered by a spell dropped within it's range. I understand that this item would have the potential to seriously change game play for certain players. However, most higher level players don't use lightning spells as much in battle, and will learn to do without them in certain cases after this is implemented. To avoid making lightning spells pointless, the lightning rod could possibly be coded to only defend resource-protecting buildings, not defenses like mortars, air defenses, etc.
*Note: The numbers and specific abilities stated in the above paragraphs are only suggestions. They are completely open for discussion/argument, and will ultimately be decided by the Supercell staff if the feature is implemented. Even the name of the trap and general function can be altered. Please share your opinions after reading the whole suggestion, not just a small segment.
