It's SC's little way of punishing rushers... And hurting the economy.
Well, I'm pushing right now and it would be so easy clicking next 10000 times until a weak base comes up. So easy ...
And I offered a solution a few months ago:
1000 gold : random matchup
1000 Dark : 200k+ matchup
100 gems : 300k+ matchup
Its to increase incentive to raid over nexting, though th10 should be 800
The purpose of the match cost is so that players get to a trophy count commensurate with their TH level. If you are at the right trophy level, nexting is that bad.
1k is definitely costly for TH10, and I complained a lot about it right after I upgraded, but once I found the right trophy range to farm it wasn't a big deal.

Nexting cost should be remain otherwise some guys can TH snipe to champions!
The only thing annoying me is next is gold only. Why not add an option to do it with elixir.
Next need gold, all defenses need gold and walls are gold only until lvl9.
Now I farm my lvl8 walls for 500K each. I could farm between 500K-800K gold per hour. It is just equal with farming lvl9 walls because for lvl9 you can use elixir+gold.
Also farming elixir is too much easier than gold. I hit next on many occasions which offer me 400K+ elixir but not gold.
So IMO farming 1M elixir/gold for walls lvl9 is way much easier than farming 500K gold
I say that all bases with less than 10000 loot be moved from the system in gold league+ It wouldn't cause a major problem since it's only 10000....
It's needed, but it's excessive to a certain extent. I would make it 500g for th8, 600 for 9, 750 for 10.
I vote: Yes it is needed, yes the costs are fine, Yes, cost of you pressing "NEXT" should go to the person's base that you pressed Next on, perhaps adding directly to their CC loot.
just let the inactive bases show more often.
Okay.... the reason why we were talking about TH sniping was because someone said that the match cost can put off people from TH sniping.... (See below)
However, after reading all you guys' comments, we know that even with the current match cost, people (even TH3) will still snipe THs in order to get to champions.
So can we conclude that the match cost have no effects on TH snipers?
There needs to be a cost but I think the cost is a little too high, epsecially for TH10 combined with the loot penalty. If there was no cost, there would be no loot as people would next until they found mega raids.
What is most concerning for me is more and more players are having to "next" far more than they used to. THat money is gone from the economy for good. That is MASSIVE cash right there poof gone.
I know the idea to give the "next" cost to the defender has been ruled out but they need to think up a way to try and keep that cash in the economy somehow.
The only other idea I could think of would be if you removed the cost then limit the number of times a player can next over time. Say allow a player to next 30times every 10min. If you want to next more, spend gems. This way the cash is not leaving the economy. Not sure I like this idea better but since the cost to defender has been ruled out...
