Ok so there more than one way to use it. You don't have to rush town halls. Redirecting your heros to attack lower defense areas is what its for. It can also be used to get them out of bad situations when they are pinned down.

I understand this but I would add more flexibility to the game. It would add more strategy help in clan wars as well as getting more loot. I'm not this level 20 sitting here complaining I'm a level 89 and when defense are getting tougher this would give heros more options.

#1 - put meat shields such as golems, giants , barbarians, etc.
#2 deploy BK and control him to destroy defences

This game is meant for strategy, not easy peezy stuff. LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES!
If you want to control your own troops, then by all means start playing Boom Beach.
