ehhhhh Giants to 6 is a good step, but archers since you are more likely to use/donate them moreso than the giants
It depends on which troop you will end up using more in the end. I love both troops so this would be a tough one for me. Giants get those cool fur jackets. Archers get a new jumpsuit. hmmmmmm.....
Right now I'm upgrading my barbs to level 6 and its gets a lot easier to save elixir up every time trust me archers first
Archers are far more versatile than giants.
Archers are the way to go. Use giants or some other troop to tank for them.
Giants get a 40% increase in health and DPS and archers get a relatively much smaller boost. However you obviously have strength in numbers with archers. Anyway, Giants are pretty good but I just prefer barch, so I'll say archers. I went Witches, Archers, Barbs, and I am now starting balloons later today.

I raid with 8-12 giants 8 wallbreakers and the rest archers and barbs.
For farming i highly recomend doing giants first as they will get you to the core of any town hall 8 and about 50% of town hall 9's.
For me giants seemed to pack the most punch....giants get you to the storages, archers and barbs are just for clean up, i say giants first.
For DE farming I had using lvl 6 Giants as they help to get to the core. But for collector raids I have been using Barch and have been doing like 3 lava walls per day. But get the archers first as it helps both in donation & attacks and then Giants :)
if u use giants a lot, i recommend giants because of their huge increase in stats. otherwise go for archers, your clan will probably appreciate it more;)
I'd go with the archers.
I did giants before archers because of their increase in power is significant. I barch but I don't do it all the time and I find doing giant/healer/goblin more useful for getting DE for the AQ upgrades.
I guess it depends on which you use more. Been picked on by lvl6 giants when I was a th8 I knew I wanted the giants first so I went for them. Never regretted it, they help out a ton.
Curious as to why you wouldn't just ask your clan mates.

I would roll with archers since you can use them for yourself and assisting others.

i would upgrade archers... (i still dont have maxed giants and im maxed th10 and ive pushed to 3622) !!! in my opinion if you can afford the time waiting for giants, why not wait a little bit more for gowiwi/gowipe or houndloonion attacks? with archers you just have to stack up lightnings spells in the factory and you are ready to go!!!! not to mention the elixir you will save up!!! the disadvantage is that 90% of your wins will be one star where if u added some giants in your army composition, you would get some 2 stars as well!!!!!do whatever you think is best!!! make sure you have enough elixir though before the push starts!!!!!
