Wikipedia, who runs off of donations, manages to archive every single change to each and every article in every language they host. It logs the date, time, previous content and who made the change.

So, a 3 billion dollar company is unable or incapable of doing the same?

I don't understand where you're getting all this. If a leader blindly promotes someone, and that someone screws everything up, how is the one doing the promoting not responsible? How are you getting 'don't promote anyone'? The obvious lesson is to be smart when you promote because YOUR decision can effect everyone. If you blindly promote someone you have this kind of thing coming. Maybe...just maybe...both people involved are responsible here.

Thats an entirely separate point I haven't even discussed here. The person doing all of this absolutely deserves the ban boot up his butt. That doesn't mean the person blindly promoting the troll isn't responsible as well. If I leave my front door unlocked and wide open, darn right someone should be arrested for coming in and stealing all my stuff. That doesn't mean I don't share the blame for what I did. It's possible for more than one person to be at fault. I don't see how so many people are missing that.

There are so many people here who seem to believe that choices should have no consequences, I am amazed that you guys can make it in the real world.

I understand that many of you are kids and don't have any responsibility in life but even the adults seem to be infected by this thinking. Let me give you a better analogy than the one offered above. When you are old enough to get a drivers license this might even help you avoid a ticket.

You are driving down the street and your friend in the back seat throws a fast food bag out the window just as you pass a police car. Guess who is getting a ticket? You are, even though you didn't throw the bag out the window you are responsible for everything involving the car you are driving. In the Clash of Clans world, every leader and co leader is driving the clan car, so everyone gets a ticket. Don't want a ticket? Don't drive the car. No one made you take a leadership role, just like no one made you promote the idiot that wrote the bad description. You made those choices, take responsibility for that choice, pay your fine and move on.

The mistake of blindly promoting someone is a mistake in judgement. The one who makes the inappropriate actions is a violation of the TOS. Why are you punishing someone for a mistake in judgement with a ban and letting the inappropriate behavior user go scott free?

Being in a position of pretend responsibility in a game of make-believe castles and creatures is hardly akin to piloting a ton of rolling death machine.
Granted, the consequences are lower, but still.

Ive never had much patience with all the folks that are whining about bans where they have full knowledge of a mildly offensive description, but this is clan trolling at a whole new level.

I sympathize with the OP and his daughter, but decisions do have consequences and this one is a minor consequence at that. I'm willing to bet she'll be able to move on with her life in a day, but she won't make the same mistake twice.

As for whether an edit log can or should be introduced, I don't think it's as cut-and-dry as that. I could certainly see instances where players designate a throw-away account to be promoted and act inappropriately on the team's behalf until they get caught. The person who promotes the offender as well as those who could have fixed the problem, but didn't, need to be held accountable.

Both people deserve the ban. I don't see the problem here. How do you know the one that instigated this hasn't also been banned? Do you have access to information we don't?

Actually, this analogy is the same as what's happening here. If the officer saw who threw out the bag, he would give the ticket to that person. If the officer didn't see who threw it, then the driver would get the ticket. SC does not know who made the change so the one who promoted the coleader takes the blame.
