Quality over Quantity for updates!
Better updates take longer.
In answer, early days, the update cycle was pretty brutal.
After the small fixes like builder for walls, camp troops not dying and no full refund on cancelled upgrades, get the feeling it wasnt driven by new ideas, just that they realised how much people were willing to shell out for new content. So they milked it for all it was worth.
Th9, some extra fillers for 9, and th10 came VERY close together.
Now they are more confident in a nice steady revenue stream, the rate has slowed. Contemplating farming a base to max as soon as th10 came out seemed inconceivable, now its perfectly possible.
Being as im on last leg of wall grind, id love an update, but the percentage of player base that have a desperate need of it is still fairly low.
im maxxed th10 apart from heros walls and troops. not exactly maxxed then!
im farmed every single bit so far. i plan on farming the rest although at a slower rate. i dont seem to have the same urge to grind anymore. maybe its because i dont see walls and troops i dont use as not important.
i want coc to release another but not too quickly. i want to max my heroes first.
it's something like diminishing returns...
when a game is new, there is little content, so when they brainstorm they can instantly think up of something new to add
when the game gets older, there would be more content, they can brainstorm again but it would take longer to make a balanced and generally good idea, because all the other ones are already implemented.
Typical with the development of ajything really.
Ppsspp hasnt had an update in ages but they used to have them quite frequently in the early stages for example.
There were not updates every month, last year. There weren't even any updates last year between January(Hero Abilities) and April (Clan Wars).
Were there two major updates in February 2014 and March 2014? I have played less than year, so I don't know.
Looking at you progress and stats, I say we are similar! I maxed th9 so fast it was insane, 800mil GG in about 8 months. 4 months later, I'm pretty much done with th10, only have heroes and walls left... and 1bil GG. Grinding lost its taste now that there is nothing new to look for. I pretty much attack between shields and get enough to upgrade one hero per week. I will soon be able to dump everything in walls, I might even play less then...
I want new stuff to look forward to, without upgrading there right now. Just an incentive
Clash of clans is so successful, because it really does work so well. It's really amazing how balanced it is, with so many different troop combinations, defenses, layouts of villages etc.. So, they really need to test any new troops etc., to make sure the balance does not leave the game. One OP troop can change everything, one underpower one and might as well not have bothered.
At this point they are fine tuning and slowly adding content. The game is mature and you shouldn't expect a lot of changes. We all love updates, but they definitely happen more often in games that are newer.
