So we have clan wars. Great for clan to clan but it still favors attacking low. People have also already suggested clan tournaments anyway. But what about something more Mano-e-mano?
What about League Tournaments? Give those badges real value other to determine bonuses and badge icons. A competition between players of the same league and th level.
League Tournaments
Matchmaking
So you'd get a button like clan wars and it would put your name in for a League Tournament. This button would appear at th6 or 7. Search times would need to be long, 3-6 hours, otherwise finding an even league match-up would be tough.
It'd first consider your league, then your th lvl and finally attacking/defensive strength - like in war.
Their would need to be limitations on th levels and league tournaments. Bronze would only accept th6/7 players. Silver would omit th9 and 10. Gold would omit th10. Crystal would omit th10 with nearing maxed capabilities. Masters would omit th6-7. Champs would omit th8. These last two would be due to matchmaking issues.
Now the game would look for similar th strengths to put in a 32 man tournament. This would be like clan wars. Meaning you can attack on shield, but this wouldn't omit you from clan wars.
Map
You'd get a screen with 16 players on one side, and 16 on the other. There would be lines like in an elimination tournament that would converge in the middle. You could scout other players on the map to see what their bases looked like but you could not watch the replays in the other rounds. The reason for this is because by the final round all the traps and tricks of the base would be on display.
But you could see what their base looked liked after the attack, what remained and the composition they used. Basically the end screen of the replay. You could see the stats of the player. What percentage they got each round, average percentage, and number of stars. At the end of the tournament replays would be opened up.
OR
Players could see each the replays but have the option of changing their base layout after each match. Basically once one match started, selecting another base as their active base for the next round. However, you could only bring the 3 preset bases in your layout editor. This would mean locking in those bases for tournaments.
In scenario one I imagine there would be less trouble from a programming standpoint but in the second scenario allot more strategy could be utilized. You could see your opponents attacks and adjust your base accordingly. However, this could be a programing nightmare... not sure. It would also require you to rearm your clan castle after each round - thus be more taxing from a resource standpoint.
Tournament
This mode will use your active war base and function similar. Attacks won't break shields. You'd have to fill your own CC.
The tournament would be elimination. The most evenly matched players would be paired first. Each player gets one attack on the other. Each match would have a league bonus for winning. This is awarded only after a match, loser gets a penalty. The winner will be the player who gets the most stars. In a tie the highest % dmg would win. If both are 3 stars, surviving troop housing space and heros will be considered. Otherwise individual matches could drag on. Players would have 12 hours to attack.
The player eliminated would be done with the tournament. They could still watch it's progression or enter a new tournament.
The winning player would proceed to the next round. The League bonus would increase each round you make it through. 32 players, 16 players, 8 players, 4 players. The last round would be different. Player's losing a round but defeating a base would get 10-20% of their winnings (I am afraid if this is too high, it would encourage farming behavior)
In the last round the finalist would be able to attack all opposing bases. At this level the game will accept ties after dmg % and divide up the loot evenly. Again highest stars followed by percent would win. The winner would get a massive bonus and it recorded on their profile.
Bonus
The loot gained from tournaments would be large for the winners. The 1st round would be the normal League Bonus doubled at masters and above. The other leagues would need higher amounts to be worth the time.
In Bronze III you'd get 80,000, Bronze II 90,000, Bronze I 100,000.
In Silver III 110,000, Silver II, 120,000, Silver I 130,000
In Gold III 140,000 and 50 DE, Gold II 150,000/100 DE, Gold I 160,000/150
Crystal III 170,000/200, Crystal II 180,000/250, Crystal I 190,000/300
Champs would end up being 360,00/2,400
Each round would add in another helping of the loot bonus. So maximum loot in Bronze III 960,000 - while champs would be a massive 4,320,000/14,400 (or 1,440,000/4,800 per win). This is assuming you get all wins in the final round. This also means the 3rd and 4th place in champs would still get 846,000 (assuming wins) . 2nd place would get double the penalty amount, still a good amount.
My reason for the high amounts would be the armies that need to be invested with the time and actual skill. Remember only 1 player reaps maximum benefit. Only half get past each round, so you'd have to figure in losing what is invested. Also you'd be giving up farming time and if warring at the same time, probably giving it up.
Champions Tournament
Winning a League Tournament would get you a ticket for a special Tournament with only other ticket holders. The bonus for loot would be the same as the final match in a League Tournament but the final round would have gems on top of it. In Champions it would be something like 3,000 gems, 2,000 gems, 1,000 gems for 1st - 2nd - 3rd. More if SC saw fit. Also this would put you on a monthly leader board for most Champion Tournament wins. 1st being worth 5 points, 2nd 3 and 3rd 1. This would actually feel like a bid for top slot that we could all put our hats in the ring for!
New -after getting farther into clan levels, I believe tieing some extra editing to badges could be a simple incentive. Some background options that vary based on the highest tournament you won in and perhaps number you won. So that if you are a champion level tournament winner, you could show off your prowess right in the badge next to your icon.
There is my suggestion - thoughts?
