example... a 10 day upgrade time can be completed by paying 1,200 gems. a second button could read 'finish building 50% faster' 600 gems.

players like me who aren't very patient with their gems would benefit because we'd probably blow the gems on other things before the 5th day came around. (boosts and stuff like that)
Supercell benefits because those 600 gems are spent from the start and i, the player am most likely going to buy more gems.
If you spend your gems on other things, then the 5th day comes around and you're still impatient, you'll probably spend even more gems.
They don't care what you spend the gems on once you buy them. If they can make you spend it on more things, they'd prefer that. So blow it on other things before the 5th and get tempted to buy more gems. They profit from your impatients, why would they do anything to alleviate that part of your nature?
See, this is not a problem. Well, it is for impatient people.
If you were patient, you would wait.
Cant you wait 10 days?
I have to wait for 50 days for my karate tournament, and I can't bribe the referees or my sensei with constant green gems. I'd need 2000 at least. But where am I going to get 2000 gems? With a pick axe or 20$?
But its not really an additional place. You said it yourself, you'd spend the gems before the 5 days are up and would still be impatient to speed up that remaining 5 days. This makes it more likely that you'll spend more gems. I'm sure it benefits you as a player but would severely reduce supercells revenue potential too much.
I dont see any way this would cut into supercells profits. In fact your reasons have absolutely no validity to them and frankly dont make sense.
No i dont think its NEEDED, but it would indeed open up more windows for gems to be spent on which can only INCREASE revenue. Now care to axplain your claim that it would "severely reduce supercells revenue potential too much"? Because its another language to me, a businessman.
Also lets say he spent the gems to double build time... Being an impatient player, wouldnt it just give him that much more incentive to gem the rest of the time halfway through.... Thus providing supercell with more gems spent than possible before..
Try thinking out of the box a bit from time to time
