Hero farming - stay at TH9 or go to TH10?

I am a near max TH9 on defense and can finish those upgrades in the next month. My lab will soon be sitting idle without research and my question is whether I should be staying at TH9 to finish hero upgrades or should I go to TH10 and farm heroes there?

My heroes are behind for being a late TH9 (BK 13 & AQ 11) due to researching dark troops. Currently I am farming in gold 1 and getting 1k+ de each raid and only get de stolen from me 2-3 times a week from lightning strikes and have the luxury of logging off, getting a free TH snipe, and logging in whenever to attack.

Pro TH10:
extra DE drill (2400/day passive)
240 army camps & 5 spells to help raid
new troops to research

Con TH10:
need to go to higher league because of loot penalty
will get de stolen from me more frequently


Pro TH9:
easy attacks vs TH8 for de
rarely get raided in gold 1/crystal 3

Con TH9:
not researching troops


What I'm thinking is if both scenarios were to play out and in 3 months I look at the results, what's the better choice?
Going to TH10 would give much stronger troops and army but depending on time & difficulty of farming DE, lower level heroes. Staying at TH9 would allow me to focus on heroes and potentially have higher level heroes but still TH9 troops.


Any experience with this?

Heros are easier to do at TH10 but if you aren't even maxed defensively then I would imagine you still have a lot to do at TH9.

Stay at th 9.

The reason I say this is because when you move to th 10 there is soooo much to upgrade and it's so expensive you really don't have the time to focus on de like you would if you had a maxed th9. I wish I would have stayed at 9 and done heros up to atleast 20 for king and 25 for queen. It's not fun getting owned in wars because you have to attack other th 10s with th 9 heros. I learned the hard way.

You didn't say how often you raid 1k DE. That is kind of a critical factor.

One pro for TH10 you probably aren't considering: The loot penalty for TH8 won't affect you too badly, because TH8s usually have pretty measly DE.

Also, a con for 10 you might not have considered: Your lootable DE in storage is now 3000! Yikes. Additionally, at TH9, you won't have any other loot stored up, making DE your only abundant resource, so not very tempting to strong attackers. If you upgrade, you'll be saving up your other resources, making you a juicy target! Yikes!

I would stay at nine for a little while and get the heroes to, say, 20. Work on walls while you wait.

I had same question as well, when i was considering going to th10.

Been at th10 for about 2 months now and i can say i'm glad i upgraded- something new, refreshing for me.

It's true you've got to go higher in order to get dark elixir- but you can diminish the chances of being attacked and losing D.E if your TH is outside and/or using a farming setup :p

I say go for it, after you've maxed all your buildings, and everything but the useless D.E troops in your lab (such as valk's, lava hounds- unless you're an air attacker by nature- should prioritize lava hound upgrade if not completed already)

I'd stay at TH9. My heroes are 19/20 and I plan on getting them to 30 before th10. Main reason is because I know I'm probably going to have to move upto masters and I'll need strong heroes for farming the insane loot needed for th10. Also won't be able to work on them for quite a while. My defences and walls are maxed so I understand where you're coming from, I'd personally hold out a little tho. Maybe till yours are 20/20.

This is wrong. The further you progress at TH10, the quicker and easier DE will be to obtain and hold onto.

DE farming for heroes and DE troop upgrades is much more efficient at TH10, and gets even better the further the rest of your base progresses.

I'm a premmie/rushed th10 (I went th10 with only 100 lavas and level 20 heroes) and although I feel bad for rushing it has made hero upgrades a breeze.

Please explain your reasoning for this

Once you max your inferno towers and and third xbow to lvl3 you wont get attacked much if you keep your th out. This is in crystal. My log is all snipes with the occasional try that gets little of the resource i want them to have. De is safe in the center. A few zaps every now and then as you get ovrer 100k stored


The camps and cc space help a lot as well.
