They call you crazy? People like you keep the game free for them,..
Hi There,
I do not doubt that some people have more time to play than others, just as some people have more money to spend. But that's not the point the OP was making. If you spend within your limits (and only yo know what they are) then there should never be an issue. The OP was making a point about an intimated SC price hike which is incorrect. Both I and a number of others have corrected this misconception.
I went on to say that if the OP is unable to fund purchases due to the increase in prices, they could, for example, adjust play to spend 20% less than they used to - or indeed stop gemming all together although, as you rightly point out, that would require more hours of play to offset the instantaneous nature of gemming. Its not for everyone but in actual fact, Clash is one of the few games that with enough time and effort, ALL players can get the same goodies. In fact everything apart from sitting at the top of the leaderboard is open to all players - in other titles, the gulf between free and paid players is more permanent, ie they have content free players cant have until they buy it.
Anyway, I never said that everyone that gems is a crappy player. Not sure what gave you that impression. It seems obvious that the top players in the world gem quite religiously and I challenge anyone to call them crappy. Like it or not, they will likely do more % damage to a maxed TH10 than most farmers - practice makes perfect and lets face it, farmers dont practice crushing maxed TH10 all that much - even farmers like me with maxed troops, spells and Royals in the high 30s...
We all play our games as we see fit. I have been around long enough to know that players dont all sit in the nice neat categories that some would like to force them into. Some farmers gem and some gemmers farm - in the middle of it all we are just trying to have fun...mostly... ;)
We pay, you play. Meaning people that do buy gems subsidise those that don't. £10 on the price of 14000 gems is a bit much to be fair. What smacks even more is they did this on the quiet since the last patch (unless it's announced here somewhere and I couldn't see it). I'm close to £1500 now on my village and now I have no plans of purchasing my monthly green fix in the near future.
Maybe the new rake each month is going to fund the development of the next version of clash of clans?
SC didnt do it. Apple and Google, to an extent, didnt do it.
Cmon folks, some of us are a bit behind the times here.
All us EU guys out there, our respective governments did it. VAT has been around a long time in one form or other, and until this recent change, WE WERENT PAYING IT.
I buy small packs of gems every week, offsetting the poor value versus the big packs with lower temptation to spend more.
Of course im upset about the rise, but you're looking at it the wrong way.
Every single gem you bought before this rise, WAS CHEAP. Not sure on the exact progression, but either your respective treasury wasnt getting their cut, or SC was eating the hit.
I would much prefer it that way, but its a bit tough.
Ask yourself, at normal exchange rates, why UK was getting a slightly better deal on gems than the US, despite the fact we are charged substantially more VAT?
I didnt know about the change in legislation, too much time clashing not enough time reading the FT, but as with any legislative change, it took ages to come into effect, and theres very little you can do about it.
Edit: to OP, yours going up is comparative weakness of canadian dollar. Unlucky. But again, just think of all the time youve had better deal than US, same number of dollars that are worth slightly less.
I am in CAnada and see $120 as well. Recently they was an increase for all apps and in-app purchases due to the value of the cdn dollar, so I believe that's the cause. I've always paid in cdn funds for my apps/in-app purchases not in usd ..
I spend real money on the game. But not a lot relative to some folks. I've probably bought $170 worth with my last being a 14000 pack. I've still got over 13,000, had some left from previous purchases. I only spend them to boost rax and hero heal times. If I'm hurting for DE I'll boost the spell factory to. I rarely speed up a building build time, if I do it's when there's only a few hours left and I want to start something else before I go to bed. I like to boost once a day but between build times being so long that even with five builders there's often no reason to.
I think you should only use gems to allow you to play more. Getting the 5th builder, boosting barracks, finishing buildings/troops a little early so you have don't sit on full resources and can be productive. Don't use them just to get to a high level super fast. $100 a month is pretty high lol. It's still pretty cheap entertainment either way. I can spend that on one dinner easy, but it does take away from the game and your accomplishments if you get too crazy with it.
