So, I have around 30000 DE right now, capable of upgrading my minions or hogs. Minions to level 4, hogs to level 3. BUT I really like Valkyries so should I upgrade my DE storage to 4, so I can hold 80000 to upgrade Valkyries to level 2?
*note that if you hate valkyries do not reply......
I feel like hogs are a better investment IMO, they are more commonly used than valkyries are, from what I've seen.
Yes it is smart to upgrade your DE storage so you can hold more DE and upgrade your dark troops to higher levels...
No it is not smart to upgrade your valks ahead of your minions in my opinion. Minions are an essential part of many attack strategies, farming, pushing, wars... Valks, not so much...
minions>valkyrie>hogs (in my opinion)

I'm really torn between valkyries and minions...hogs I don't work well with(I normally use up 2000 DE just to get 'em killed, no stars, nada) but I think valkyries are the best choice although it will take some time. But it looks like people like minions and hogs better. :)

It has been shown a few times that Valks can do great job especially in TH8 and 9 if you can stand the high cost of using them at higher level. Just do what you want but what I think:
Minions: great for all war/push/farm raid like loonion/lavaloonion/BAM. probably one of the most flexible DE troops
Hogs: with the nerf, they can still destroy bases, but you need skill to do it. Either learn to use them or just use them to lure CC
Valks: especially great to add in Gowipe or Gowiwi if you don't wanna lure troops, but the cost at higher level is a bit high

And I think they still have a place in this game.
At level 4/5 they are a great addition to any army comp.
However, you need to upgrade that DE storage to max at every TH level, regardless of what upgrade you tend to do.
Valks are expensive but can be well worth it if added to the right army comp.
I Just havent had any luck with them. Mine are still lvl1 (shhhh don't tell anyone).
I thought valks to 2 was only 60k

I haven't used minion until I started loonian at th9. While some are very skilled at BAM, it just wasnt efficient with level 3 minions

A self-fulfilling prophecy -- if you never upgrade a troop, of course you will never use them. If you upgraded it, then you might find you have lots of reasons to use it.Quote:

I generally choose the cheapest dark upgrade, so my defenses are better when I need to save up for the more expensive one. If you happen to have the DE for the pricier one, go for it. But if you let the lab sit idle while you save up, you are screwing yourself in two ways: 1 - Idle lab! 2 - You're offering max storage DE to attackers (2k) when you have more than 28k (if you're TH8). Spend that DE so you can get free shields!

Regarding valks... Well they're my least favorite troop in the whole game (ok healers are worse)
Minions and hogs are way better troops then valks especially if you are th8. But upgrade what ever you like to use most first.
