I've been playing since 2012 ish when it was hard to get gems. I bought $25 worth of gems for builders and now got 5 builders. Haven't really gemmed anything except during the 1 boost periods. Now I have 5600 gems from achievements and such. What should I do with them? Barrack boost? 10 gems seems really expensive to me but what else am I going to do with the gems? Supercell already ruled out the idea of upgrading builder huts with gems...
Wow great job saving up all those gems. I use mine to boost barrack and barch. It's the most profitable way to farm imo. Whatever you decide to do with them have fun.
you only think boosts aren't worth it until you try them. I thought the same. Now I don't raid without a barrack boosted.Quote:

Only problem with boosting is, you'll never want to go back.
I don't know how anyone plays this game with an unboosted spell factory, unless they are completely unnecessary. Makes dark farming infinitely more bearable.

If boosting isn't your thing, the next best thing I believe would be using them to cut down hero upgrading time. Been able to use them more helps you save resources faster for your next upgrades.
My gems do the following:
1) Builders - Finished
2) Boost - Ongoing
3) Wake Queen up from long sleeps - Ongoing

I can't say for sure but, I am pretty sure that one can't do lavas w/o boosting. (It will take forever!)
Anywho...it all depends on your CoC goals.
One thing that you SHOULD NOT do is, speed up construction. It's very pointless and a complete waste.
