Flying defence structure?

Not really. It's a bit like saying there's no point in having archer towers or wizard towers because you can use archers and wizards in the clan castle. :)

And having a defense that is floating in the air attacking ground only troops is any different than having a full barbarian army and attacking someone who has a dragon or minions in their clan castle?

here's my addition for what its worth:
maybe if you had it designed like a balloon like structure tethered to the ground the rope could have fairly high health depending on level? and if the rope is cut then the balloon falls to the ground for ground troops to ravage??

Pretty much what I said, but you can't just have a rope be cut, then the balloon would fly away. I like my chain idea better

Except it would have to be a lot less OP...

I'm guessing like a archer tower that shoots twice as fast with half the DPS... But only attacking air troops... I like the idea of a machine like defense but I think it should be on the ground...
