Religion Vs Global

Hello there! So a little while ago I was in global, but this global had some people talking about religion. That's not all that bad, but those same people where bombing on others who had a different religion or just didn't have one in general. I told them (polity) that there is a time and place to talk about these things, and global was just not one of those places. I almost told them that one day there going to go on a global that mutes them for talking about that. They responded by muting me and continued to talk. So, did I say the correct words, or should I have just walked away?

The one thing I have learned about global and religion is don't mix them. I once got into a 2 hour argument over it.

Man that pun was a bit harsh...

Anyway, I'd just leave it. Or report the offensive players.

Only reasonable people will listen to reason. As you know, global can sometimes be somewhat lacking with reasonable people with common posts being (apart from "join us") "any girls on?" So best to walk away next time my friend.

It can be called many different things but I know it as "The Backfire Effect". Studies have shown that when people hold strongly to a viewpoint and they are shown opposing logical viewpoints (especially online) that even though the evidence suggests that they are wrong, they will only become more entrenched in their beliefs.

Unless you just want to mess with people, there is no reason to argue on the internet. Even if you have all of the evidence on your side the other side will rarely, if ever, change their mind.

If those kids/people thought that discussing/hating on religions in global was appropriate, then the best thing to do would just to mute them and not get involved.

They can discuss whatever they please, if it's not to your liking don't pay attention, it's as simple as that.

As long as I'm not in it and its off the forums, go at it. its a conversation topic, that is true but a real delicate one. One mis-wording and you have a whole argument between several different players and in the end slurs are thrown and people get banned. There was a thread that started innocently here, got shut down and deleted cause of religious affiliations and accusations. Same thing with a thread about flags and politics. On a neutral site like the forums, politics and religion should stay to a discreet level to avoid confrontation

exactly.
it is a global chat.
people should be able to talk about whatever they want.
if it gets to a point of clear and direct insults,then perhaps reporting them would be in order

but people are or should be free to talk about whatever they want.

i hate the fact that people have this concept that certain things should never be discussed. why?

i think OP just got his panties all bunched up because someone said something that went against his own personal belief.

there are bound to be people that have different beliefs than you.

infact now u mention this , once i went on global and a people were asking for s*x and talking very inapropriatly like they were all smashed on friday night or something. Next thing u know its an online dating website instead of clashofclans... but nobody seems to care so nothing u can do about it, if u dont like what people r talking about just mute them.. pretty sure thats why that button is there

heres an idea crazy one maybe but an idea non the less.......dont go on global?

If you don't want to participate, then don't. Close and reopen clash and go to another global.

But yeah, they can talk about what they want when they want. Free speech. You can choose to not participate, but your aversion to religion shouldn't be forced on others.

Ah, the intolerance of the "tolerant." Hypocrisy at its finest.

I just avoid global

Religion is an absolutely horrible thing but at the same time people can talk about whatever they want in global.

You know you could have just agreed with him and that would be that. Also, if there is one rule in life, it's to not assume, but I aprecciate the feedback either way.
