*Proof* of why snipers are damaging the economy

Hi guys

I was away for a couple of days and decided that I wouldn't touch CoC at all. When I came back I was very surprised to see that my inactive base had not been raided properly, only sniped.

This is the first snipe.

So this sniper has hidden 300k of inactive gold and elixir, and 2.33k of inactive dark elixir.

The total amount that has been hidden by this sniper is 704/613/6.33k. That is a large amount of loot that was hidden.

Before anyone says that they didn't have enough troops or something, look at the below points:

1. It doesn't matter, the selfish snipers still hid that look from you guys; and

2. They had enough troops to take a significant amount as can be seen in the below pictures.

So in summary, one of you forum users could have taken 300/300/2k from me + league bonus of 65-100k depending on if you are in crystal 1 or masters 3, just using barch or mass arch. Or you could have taken 700/600/6k from me using lavaloonion if only these selfish snipers would think of what they are doing to the economy.

Wow, why didn't someone barch that? Crazy.

But yeah, they should make sniping illegal. Wait, I live off snipes. Never mind

I was only away for two days, well not even two complete days lol. Here are the defences for the time I was away. Actually I was also hit the day I left but that was when I didn't have anything in my collectors IIRC. So a bit funny really.

I expect them to either not snipe (meaning someone can get some nice loot), or at least take out some of my collectors,mines or drills which are surrounding my base outside the walls. I just don't understand the logic of letting the loot be covered by shield. Can you explain why they didn't use any troops to take out some collectors?

Hmm that is pretty true, I've been sniped a few times which I usually don't mind if I got a loot, usually annoys me to see low level snipers in the master league. At the same time I find it to be pretty cool, but if I get sniped I usually just 100% there base, since it usually a low level. I still agree on it not being good for the economy, if they lowered the base shield timer I wouldn't really care to much I guess.

Because to a low level TH your base is very intimidating.

I was very leery of X-Bows until I finally decided to go up against them. They hurt, but not as bad as I thought they would.

wow thats insane, cant believe they wouldnt take the safe snipe and then pick of the collectors at least....sure the storages may scare some lower ths but the collectorssssssssssssssssss!

I went 11 defenses and only 1 was a snipe this week and last weekend. Of course i'm in gold 1 offering close to max so nobody is going to snipe me lol.

I actually have been thinking lately that nobody is leaving their town hall outside and nobody is doing any sniping. This trend must be dying a little in the low leagues.

Unfortunately I would not be able to use a large enough sample size. But are you really using that argument to say that snipers do not hide loot and damage the economy???

It is a very simple concept to grasp...

Why is your th out in the open? Your complaining about snipers hurting the economy but you and others, including me have are TH's out in the open. So is it really the snipers fault or is it our fault for having it out in the open. I don't understand how you can complain about them hurting the economy while you have your th out in the open. It just doesn't make sense. If you feel that way about snipers then in my opinion your th should be protected.

All I can hope for is that those examples are minorities.

Sometimes I get snipped and the attacker will throw 50 odd archers giving the pumps a real test to see if there is anything there - even when they are bone dry.

I'm glad you raised this point. The reason is that I want to give people a safety net, so to speak. They can take on my base with no risk of losing trophies, because of my outside town hall.

If you do not have your town hall out you barely get attacked. And I want to not only help myself, but also those players who are not 100% sure that they can 50% my base. I want to help these new players to be able to confidently attack.

They didn't hurt the economy at all. The economy is only hurt when people don't take loot from full collectors. In both of those screenshots your collectors still had more room to collect which means loot was not being wasted because it was still being gathered.

I agree that it is wasteful to leave a base with completely full collectors if you have the ability to attack them (some bases have all their collectors behind multiple walls and you may not be able to reach them), but there is no problem leaving the collectors on a base when they still are not full.

And it could be worse, you could have left your town hall in and countless people would have thrown gold away nexting past your base. That would have truly been bad for the economy.

Im pretty happy to have done a few good deeds today! Sniped about 5 bases with loads (600k total)of loot in them! I think I am a major contributor to this problem.

Yes you are partly correct, my dark elixir drills are full at this point. But I'm talking about the fact that snipers would rather snipe an inactive base than attack it. Which means it is hidden from all of us. And when it gets off shield it gets sniped again, unless we are quick enough to find it. There are two economies: the available economy, and the absolute economy. The available economy is what matters. If there is 1000m dark elixir sitting in the absolute economy but not in the available economy it may as well not exist for us. And that is what snipers do; they remove loot from the available economy.

I wish that would be the norm. In reality, when I have my TH out, they only snipe if my collectors are dry; if they are full they empty them. They will also attack my storages if they have a decent amount of stuff; sometimes I laugh because they spend so many troops to get so little.


IMO clashers normally overattack if anything. Of course the exception confirms the rule. :)

Your base does not appear to have much easy loot. Both the elixir collectors and DE drills are completely dry so your base does not make for a good collector raid at all. The only thing that has loot are the gold mines, but it is very hard to tell when a gold mine is full versus empty (if anyone knows of a good way to tell let me know). Many people just look at the elixir collectors and if they are dry they assume everything else is a well. The only way I would have known that you have a lot of loot in your mines is because you are offering too much gold for it just to be in your storage. Still, a person has to decide if they want to lose most of their army just to get to your gold mines (since they are behind a lot of buildings and most of a barch army will die just getting those mines).

well at first i was against zappers but now after being zapped at least 1000 in my coc gameplay time i just ignore it! Unfortunately i wasnt as lucky as you to just get my town hall sniped when my base was full ln sotrages and mines offering 600/700k to the attacker... they tried taking it all:p (have in mind my base is maxed except walls/heros and one trap) if you want to see some old school zappers then watch this !

They temporarily remove loot from the available economy. Let's say for example that I was lucky enough to be the second attacker in your original post. I would have absolutely loved what the first attacker did. He left all the loot in the collectors so that the second attack would have been better. Had you stayed gone long enough to allow a 3rd attack that 3rd attacker would have gotten a truly good collector raid because the first two did not bother to drain collectors that were not full to begin with. As it stands, you were the 3rd raider and you got to keep all the loot because they did not take it. No loot was lost from the economy at all. Instead of two strangers getting your loot, you got to keep it. That did not damage the overall economy at all.

People that snipe bases with completely full collectors without attacking the collectors are indeed part of the problem. People that snipe bases with partially full collectors are just good Samaritans. They make life better for either the owner of the base or the next person to raid it (whichever gets their first).

On the flip side they generate loot from loot bonuses that get added into the total amount of loot availabe in the game.

Also, they hide tons of bases that have no loot available when they snipe them.

This is hypothetical and highly unlikely. If a base has loot available it will likely be attacked. Your case is an extremely rare one, which proves nothing.

Most bases with full collectors are going to be raided in addition to being sniped. I guess if you really wanted to know how often a base with full collectors gets left alone you could just leave your base for a week and see what the defense log looks like. Just be sure that the collectors are all outer buildings because the more defended the collectors the more likely they will be left alone and the less reliable the data is. My guess is that completely full collectors will not be ignored most of the time. Your original post does not have any full collectors in either example because your base was not abandoned long enough.

Yes, some snipers do attack inactive collector bases, some do not. You showing a few attacks as "evidence" for your belief is simply not enough to prove what you believe.

This is basically my point too. I probably would not have attacked the first example of the original post either because I try to give active players shields without stealing their loot. Most bases that have mostly empty collectors are owned by active players that would prefer to keep their loot (which is why their town hall is out). In the second example I probably would have attacked it even though they were only partially full. The problem with the post is that it is such a small sample size. Leave your base out for a week OP and show us the results. That will give us a good idea of just how many people don't bother to attack abandoned bases. Your base was never left alone long enough to even qualify as a abandoned base.

Very interesting maybe this is why I don't snipe? Nope if they have more then 200k it's a full raid.

Do you really believe that 300/300k inactive isn't an abandoned base? I know that I would attack that in a second, I wouldn't even second guess it. I guess this is why people say that loot is bad, because they only attack completely full collector raids and do not go for a petty 300/300k

This is why when I go inactive for 3 months my town hall will be inside and the collectors close to the walls. I only want high level farmers attacking me.

I'm terrified of lv3 Xbows. I won't even look at a base with them... Unless I snipe....

I think the attitude of the snipers is wrong here. I snipe a lot, but with loot like that I would attack, even if I am playing on my TH7 or TH8 mini.

If you are in crystal one and you get a snipe, the league bonus will have already offset the cost of the barch army. So why not go all out and drop a few heals to get those collectors. With that loot, you shouldn't really be stingy about dropping spells.

I'm not saying that snipers don't play a role at all in the rarity of bases with good loot, it's that there aren't the only ones and the main one to blame.

Im not saying that they are the main reason why the economy is how it is. I'm just showing that they are making the economy worse. There are of course other reasons for the current situation.

Besides the reason he gave, even if he put his TH inside and I put my TH inside, would you put your TH inside? If all three of us put our THs inside, would anybody else? If every single forumer put their TH inside, would anyone else? Would not someone be tempted to do the sane thing and put their TH outside to benefit? As long as it is profitable to put your TH outside, this is going to be a problem no matter what individuals do. Some snarky individual called me a hypocrite in another thread for this, but it really is the system that needs to change rather than any individual.

Great thread. People do not understand the problem. They want their loot protected even though it causes them to spend months of their lives clicking the next button to skip past bases with no loot.

I'm not posting my defense log, I checked and it would take 12 separate pictures. So anyone reading this can believe the following or not.

I have 30 attacks in my defense log. 22 of those attacks are snipes. My loot is almost always past cap unless I just had a builder free up. 73% of my attackers are snipers giving me a free shield so nobody can touch my loot for the next twelve hours.

How does this make you not weep for the loot that is now unavailable to you in cases like this

73%... that means when I log out, I'm pretty confident you're never going to see my loot.

Why would I want to risk my loot? Well, I don't. But if we got rid of TH shields then I have a shot at your loot as well. And the loot of millions of other clashers. It's a good trade-off.

But don't go around labeling anyone a hypocrite. This will only work if TH shields are gone. It truly does not matter whether one individual wants to martyr himself. Nobody would ever notice.

Totally understand where you are coming from.

But overall I would conclude snipers do more good to the economy than harm.

I really believe [or want to believe] the amount of bases with uncollected loot that get snipped, like the two examples here are a minority.

For every base that is sniped with little to no loot that is league bonus been injected into the economy - at ZERO expense to the victim in terms of loot loss and horrible trap re-arm costs.

Everytime I see a base with bad loot and an exposed hall I snipe it regardless of TH level and even when I'm 'dropping trophies', that way even a crappy loot base can put loot into the game. Surely I'm not the only one who does that.

I however do not snipe a strong TH9/TH10 base with good storage loot if I don't have the army to hit it...as sometimes I search without a full army - and always have at least 1 hero upgrading which restricts my storage raiding ability. I'll let someone else have a crack. Again, surely I'm not the only one who does that.

Get rid of the stupid shield for TH... problem solved... and it would add a fun new dynamic to the game even though the 8 billion farmers would be up in arms! Imagine that, actually having to protect your most valuable building for a change. Weird huh.

Hah, I know what your trying to say.

But been one who has held a few cups and wars a lot you would also know there are times you will get 1 star wins by getting into a core of a base - destroying a hall but falling short of 50%.

They legitimately lost and fully deserve a shield.

OP why make another one of those flame threads? How many more times do we need to discuss this dead horse?

You should maybe worry more about how you like to play the game not try and discredit others for ' playing it wrong' .... And most of all, you should probably put your own th IN? Ppl in glasshouses and all that?

You were offline for 1/2 days.

It take maxed mines/collectors 3 days to fill. Absolutely nothing was lost from the economy.

If you actually want to prove this is an issue that is worth being discussed then leave your clash alone for a few weeks and record the defense logs

You place your town hall in a corner just so someone snipe it. And then you tell everyone how it is wrong for snipers to snipe town halls ? Even if it is wrong, you're part of the problem itself.

This is an interesting thread. A picture of my clan was posted and I therefore feel obliged to comment.

I have been a fully-maxed TH7 Champion for 8 months and Savage Seven is my clan. I have no desire to upgrade this account as I have a near maxed TH10. Loot is not usually an issue for lower town halls who trophy push as my storages usually full and have very little to spend it on, apart from the gold required pressing 'Next'.

There have a been several negative comments pertaining to TH sniping, but the fact is that I spend very little time raiding with my TH7 account as it maintains itself (most defences are -1 to -3). Players leave their THs exposed for a reason - a cheap shield. As Adam Smith wrote, there is both Supply and Demand. There is a demand for both 'cheap shields' and ' free trophies'. There would not be TH Snipers in higher leagues if players did not want a cheap shield in the first instance.

Players also place several traps around their THs (as WiteLighteningHWD has emphasised in his latest video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9tV2-s3vB0), and it can thus also (obviously mostly in lower leagues) be an attacking strategy.

I will gladly admit that I know utilise gems for shields and to boost barracks when needed to ensure that I always have 10 dragons in my barracks.

I don't know why people seem to be hammering the point of collector raids, what about the maxed cap loot inside the storages? Whatever happened to storage raids? If collector raiders are the majority of posters that complains about the loot shortage then this thread should highlight how picky and finicky some collector raiders are if they can't be bothered to clean up some half full collectors that could net them an extra 150k+ gold and elixir and 2k+ de.

Yes, I am part of the problem. I'm selfish too. But snipers are as well. Anyone who snipes is part of the problem, and anyone who puts their town hall out is part of the problem. There is no point in me putting my town hall inside at this time as the situation is at the point where a few people putting town halls inside would do nothing.

Yep. Whether the trolls in this thread like it or not, 700/600/6k could have been looted from me, but a sniper selfishly sniped me meaning that no one could touch it. Now imagine if I wasn't playing, I would be continually sniped until I'm pushed back in the queue with loot that will never be touched.

I am saying that since your collectors never hit max, the economy was not effected, they continued to fill under a shield.

If you left your village alone for an extended period of time (above& beyond the time for collectors to fill) then you could actually see if people are sniping you while you have FULL collectors. This would show an actual effect on the economy since they would stop producing. The point that I believe you were originally trying to prove

That, and snipers add to the economy by adding league bonuses are glossing over the problem that bases with available loot are being removed. That loot is going to be erased by upgrades either way, the important part is for it to be available for others to take.

You really believe a person that has not logged in for 24 hours has abandoned his account? It was 24 hours. That is not the definition of an abandoned base. It was a decent collector raid sure. But it was not an abandoned base. I very much distinguish between a base that no one is going to log in and collect in the next week and one that gets logged in every day or two. The latter one is not abandoned and is not wasting loot as long as the person logs in before his collectors get completely full (as it appears you did with the exception of your DE drills). The former does indeed have wasted loot and should be raided which is why I think bases that have not logged in for a couple days should be at the top of the search queue.

This is an interesting thread. A picture of my clan was posted and I therefore feel obliged to comment.

I have been a fully-maxed TH7 Champion for 8 months and Savage Seven is my clan. I have no desire to upgrade this account as I have a near maxed TH10. Loot is not usually an issue for lower town halls who trophy push as my storages usually full and have very little to spend it on, apart from the gold required pressing 'Next'.

There have a been several negative comments pertaining to TH sniping, but the fact is that I spend very little time raiding with my TH7 account as it maintains itself (most defences are -1 to -3). Players leave their THs exposed for a reason - a cheap shield. As Adam Smith wrote, there is both Supply and Demand. There is a demand for both 'cheap shields' and ' free trophies'. There would not be TH Snipers in higher leagues if players did not want a cheap shield in the first instance.

Players also place several traps around their THs (as WiteLighteningHWD has emphasised in his latest videohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9tV2-s3vB0), and it can thus also (obviously mostly in lower leagues) be an attacking strategy.

This thread is getting sidetracked.

Point is: Everyone with a full army is out for loot. Some prefer it easy - like the guys who sniped you. And others like me would raid you even if you are offering 200K. I believe (no facts to back this - but my own TH almost never gets sniped when I offer 400K+ loot, its a full raid all the time) most snipers would have taken your loot.

THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL SOMEONE CAN SKIP THAT MUCH LOOT, UNLESS HE JUST WANTS TO SNIPE AND MOVE ON. Also, most probably, those guys were focusing on trophies rather than loot.

I'm not posting my defense log, I checked and it would take 12 separate pictures. So anyone reading this can believe the following or not.

I have 30 attacks in my defense log. 22 of those attacks are snipes. My loot is almost always past cap unless I just had a builder free up. 73% of my attackers are snipers giving me a free shield so nobody can touch my loot for the next twelve hours.

How does this make you not weep for the loot that is now unavailable to you in cases like this

Why would I want to risk my loot? Well, I don't. But if we got rid of TH shields then I have a shot at your loot as well. And the loot of millions of other clashers. It's a good trade-off.

But don't go around labeling anyone a hypocrite. This will only work if TH shields are gone. It truly does not matter whether one individual wants to martyr himself. Nobody would ever notice.

Every time someone spends a large amount of elixir raiding the storages of another player the economy loses because transferring loot from one storage to another does not create new loot and the elixir used to make the army is gone forever.

Unless a base is truly abandoned (i.e. the collectors are completely full and thus are no longer creating new loot) there is no gain to the overall economy to doing anything more than just sniping the town hall for the league bonus. This thread relates to a poster stating how sniping is basically bad.

As evidence, the OP shows his powerful Level 10 base full of loot that has been sniped. Thus preventing those few people with troops powerful enough to get some of his loot from actually doing so.

With you so far.

As evidence of his / her assertion, the OP shows screen shots of his base, which shows the TH outside the security of the walls.

Classic farming tactic; you snipe my TH, get the win bonus and cups, I get to have a shield so other players can't attack my base.

Why put your TH outside if you don't want the exact thing that you are criticising to occur?

As for people not raiding collectors, perhaps they have a morality that says I will take your TH but believe it is against the spirit of the game to take advantage of you.

That is hilarious.

If I wanted your loot, and had the appropriate army, I wouldnt care if I won or lost trophies. The only person my not 50%ing a base would harm is the base I attacked if I didnt get 40%

But onto a more somber note. This did not hurt the economy. The fact you got to keep the loot means that you dont need to raid so much from others. Maybe not a huge amount less..... But still.

Truely abandoned bases are removed from the economy altogether*. The time that loot becomes 'lost' is when the collectors are fully maxed and cannot in effect generate more.

If you want to do a proper experiment keep your TH in and design a base where your full collectors are away from the defenses and your base is easy to 50%. This should not be a problem with the new base design thingy. As others have said- try a bit longer.

The reason that people dont snipe and take out the collectors is that there is a button called "revenge". It has been voiced on many an occasion on these forums that if someone snipes a base they are generally left alone- but if they zap or go on to attack the base (even pick the collectors) they will be revenged.

In actual fact I do keep my TH snipe for a free shield. People arent always competent enough to get 40% on a base. I am also more likely to break my shield regularly with the odds stacked slightly in my favour of having a snipe. I have no issue with this at all.

I think it's a bit strong to say snipers are hurting the Clash economy. The loot hasn't disappeared, it remains in your pocket not someone elses, that is all. People leave TH's out with this in mind. I know you said you leave it out for other reasons, but I think you're in the minority there. Nobody 'wants' to lose loot and will try any tactic not to. Leaving a TH outside is the most common.

I have an issue with TH's being left outside enabling low level players to get to higher leagues than they should. As a nearly maxed TH8 playing in G1 and C3 I will take down any TH7 or below I meet purely to redress this inbalance in my own small way. It doesn't bother me what loot they have as they are not the bulk of my raids so losing a little doesn't hurt in the long run.

The only way you can stop a sniper from 'hurting' the clash economy is not to leave your TH outside. Perhaps a little unfair to say this, but next time you walk into a supermarket, I would like to know, did you spend every bit of cash you had on you, and did you max out your credit cards? If not your hurting the economy. Think about it, you probably will only buy what you went in for, even though the store had more to offer you. People do what they think meets there objective at the time. They don't usually do what is best for the wider community.

First off, that is an excellent post. I wish there were more people who took the time to write something as obviously well thought out and in-depth.

Just to clarify, I don't mean that people should put their TH's inside. I want that shield for destroying the TH gone, and then people can do whatever they want with their town hall, although there would be no benefit to keeping it outside.

All loot is created is from the finite resource that is the single player campaign, and the renewable sources that are collectors, league bonuses, and war bonuses. If we wanted to create more loot, we'd have to either introduce a new source of income or increase one of these four existing sources. This was recently done for all but the single player campaign, of course.

This is not about creating loot, however. What I am writing about is the availability of active bases that have loot to attack. There is a reason that all the impoverished villages that must be skipped past are trophy bases. And sure, there are certainly farming bases that have no resources as well. I snipe those myself. But by making use of the system allowing my base to be shielded by someone who is looking for a trophies, xp, or achievements, I am able to remove myself the majority of the time from the whole search queue.

And I'm no special snowflake, this is multiplied perhaps millions of times for others who are also able to shield their loot. This means a base with an exposed TH is only available until any person comes along willing to come along, which is a far larger pool than having to wait for a person who has an army capable of taking on my village. Only SC knows the exact numbers, but that has to be a lot of bases that end up being shielded most of the time and were never available for a "real" attack.

I want more of these choice bases, loaded with loot who would otherwise be sniped and protected, available for me to attack and I'm willing to offer up my own for it. As you point out, this would result in a net loss to the economy and the sources of wealth would have to be further increased to compensate or the economy would suffer. I didn't think about this before, but yes, if the two weren't done together this results might very well be pretty awful.

Basically, I think it's more fun to have active bases that are worth attacking and I want to see more of them. The search times are ridiculous (even 6 minutes a pop really adds up) and since SC won't allow any sort of filter to skip seeing bases which only serve to waste your time nexting base, this is the only other option I see. As it stands my best option currently is to primarily seek out abandoned bases and harvest them for resources. That's great, and it's necessary to prop up the economy, but it becomes incredibly tedious.

EDIT: Another problem just occurred to me. Zapping DE might very well get completely out of hand without exposed THs. There are some bugs to work out with the idea now I think. Modifiying how the shield works could be used to fix this, it would have to be done anyways if the TH goes away. It's a major change, but it's basically what SC tries to do by hiding inactives except consideration is now being given to the economical impact and we would be adding to the search queue instead of just taking away from it.

This is certainly something that would have to be tested and fleshed out fully. I see now you couldn't just take away the shields without some other changes as well, but I think it may very well improve the game. It's worth a test on the developer servers at any rate.

I just disagree with erethizon that there is a scarcity of loot in the system.

League and war bonuses got buffed, and the little in collectors even from a fairly active player helps.

SC arent going to make masses more loot out of thin air. That would remove option Z, gem the resources.
Its not an option the vast majority like, but SC are always going to keep things just tight enough that sometimes, people will.

They cannot make the game unplayably dry, or so richly easy that no one will gem. Both are bad for business.

We would all like more, but people that say that cant manage tend to be exaggerating, as do those that play an incredible amount and say it is easy.
The middle is surely closer to the truth.

I really doubt there are that many people that have quit, or stopped raiding because of the loot. I mean, permanently. Or havent started raiding again recently.

So TL;DR for you lazy people!

I believe that there is *just* enough loot generated in the economy.

Warble would like to see more of it unshielded. (But would prob need to be TH and 25% for shield rather than none, lowest % 1* ive had was 28 on a proper base).

But how big a dent would that knock in generated loot from snipers and their league bonuses? Or is most of that then effectively hidden in TH penalties?

Consider that we are at the same league.

As lower TH level, it's impossible to me attack your village. So I will probably snipe your TH and zap your DE if I have some spell left.

Of course you will get the shield and higher TH levels won't see you for 12 hours.

That's why I believe the leagues must be divided per TH level. It's very frustrating the fact that I can't go to higher leagues and be constantly destroyed by TH8 and above.

Having league bonuses for maximized TH levels are wrong.

If you leave your TH outside, your putting out an invitation for the snipers. If you left your TH inside protected, no snipers will attack it and eventually a storage raider will take your base for the loot. To claim that your helping other players, why don't you just put all your collectors, mines and storages outside unprotected?

There wouldn't be snipers if there was no town halls to snipe.

IMHO the OP still applies faulty logic.

The loot is not hidden from the economy. The OP gets to keep it. He is part of the economy.
Farming from other players is (omitting nexting and army cost) a zero-sum game.

OP posted almost an identical thread in 2014. The concept of "shielding loot" as the only point to the effect of sniping ignores many important points. Focusing only on that point is as flawed now as it was in 2014.

However, forget snipers. Every single raid I do is selfish. It doesn't matter what kind of raid it is I'm always trying to get something for myself at the expense of someone else. So what. That is the point of the game.

Do the rest of you do altruistic raiding?

There is no point to this... for every base that may just get a shield (even more so when a th 7-8 comes across a maxed th 10) and the loot is left behind. Another base gets blasted, th outside or not. If i want trophies only. i dont worry about loot. If i want loot, i dont worry about trophies. If your th is outside with loot, ill take it. if its inside... who knows what i will do.

Interesting. I've been attacked this morning and last night with full attacks in gold 1. I suppose I have have too many defenses upgrading (2 now I think 3 last week). Oh well when I'm max th9 or th10 I'm sure I will get sniped as well! Until then people can keep rolling over me.

im in Gold 1. 2 xbow and a wiz tower in upgrade (+ 2 de pumps). 8 mil gold. 7 mil elixir, 70k de plus a 1/2 full CC loot. Sniped is all i got for the last 3 attacks. which is fine. lol just depends on what comes along.

Because that's sniping etiquette - if I snipe a TH outside, then I don't get revenged becuase we both got what we wanted. If I do more than snipe (including zapping) that's a "real attack" and I could expect a revenge.

So you put your TH out, and got one snipe and one snipe/zap. The zapper could be revenged.

BTW both snipes CREATED loot (from the bonus) since neither cost more than the units spent or the tiny loss on your base. Had anyone taken your loot, that would have had 0 inpact on the loot supply - it just moved from one base to another - less the cost of the army which is lost forever.

Sniping, aside from collectors actually creates massive amounts of loot for the economy. I don't see how you can make the argument that this is harmful.

Seriously I don't understand why people would let your base go. Forget about the storage, you have it too well defended, but obviously the collectors are outside and absolutely attackable, why would any one let go this perfect opportunity to get a little bit richer just blows my mind.

I disagree. If you see a collector full, you need to take it out so it does not overflow and stop working. This is for the benefit of the ecosystem. Keep the collectors working, especially those obviously afk bases, it the responsibility of everyone. Revenge? Heck. I am mostly maxed TH10 anyway.

Is it? I use my defence log every day and attack regardless of whether the attacker sniped or did more. It's just a source of bases to attack that doesn't cost gold and I attack based on the exact same considerations than when doing "regular attacks". Counting in the missing league bonus, of course.

No bad feelings both ways. When someone steamrolls my base for collectors and storages and his base is not worth attacking or too strong for me, I shrug it off. Vice versa, when a base offers what I want, I attack no matter what the other player did to mine first.

You don't need to, any player can go through their logs and see that they get exclusively sniped up in higher leagues, specifically b/c it is so profitable to do so. It is undeniable. I don't have any experience up in high Masters/Champs, and I assumed since the bonus is so much it would encourage players to bring heavy armies and go for the storages as well, but even there I've heard that TH sniping is overwhelmingly more practiced than full on storage raids.

Do you really not understand why he keeps it out, while pointing out that TH snipers are messing up the economy? So he should protect his TH, while no one else in the game will do this, b/c the game is designed to have your TH outside or suffer multiple hits on your base? He's working within the constraints that the game is laid out. He is also in favor of changing the system so that TH sniping isn't so prevalent. So get the hell off your high horse with this "then why don't you put it inside?" question as if that will do literally anything to resolve the situation, and not just harm him while it continues to be a problem overall.

There's a way to stop TH snipers for the purpose of farming instantly, and it involves reforming the league bonus system.

1-star: % of league bonus rewarded based on % damage done to base
2-star: 100% league bonus rewarded
3-star: multiplier applied to league bonus

There is a bit more that goes into that, to offset the inevitable lower loot injection into the economy from it as well as avoiding exploitation by large TH level disparity, but that's the gist. Try to tell me that players up in Crystal and Masters will continue to TH snipe rather than go for the storages when they are only offered 2% of the league bonus for doing so.

They should stop barching next! Think about it. Someone comes threw a base gets 50% spending, let's say 50k Elixir getting many times negligible amounts of loot from the base, boat loads from the league bonus. Meanwhile you get to keep the loot in your storages and get a shield.
Ohh I forgot to mention you can raid snipers and Barchers and get loads of loot they got mostly from League Bonuses. But let's ignore that and focus only on the miniscule details. That's what's really important!

Maybe he shouldn't have said "bad for the economy," as people will immediately jump to the fact that sniping is the fastest and cheapest method of bringing game-generated loot into the game. A better statement would be to say that rewarding TH snipe victories just the same as 3-star victories is bad for the game, as all those TH sniped bases are bases that active players who want to use storage raiding armies cannot hit. They get shielded immediately, and then you see all these complaint threads about the only ones they're left Nexting through are low storage loot, protected TH bases.

Reforming the league bonus system so that it's not economically beneficial to TH snipe would solve this. TH sniping up in higher leagues would be a way to maintain/increase your league badge, but that would be the extent of it. You would have to actually hit bases for their storages or at least 2 stars in order to acquire decent loot/the full bonus. Rewarding 3-star attacks with a multiplier would also bring a risk-reward factor into using more expensive armies rather than knowing that anything other than Barch/BAM will always net you less loot per hour.
