I think dragons need a nerf because all anybody uses in war is full dragons
Unless you're a TH 7, it's hard to 3-star with drags. They're balanced as it is. If you are a TH 7, it gets better at TH 8. If you're a TH 8+, your design and/or your air defense needs improvement.
Just because it's used often doesn't mean it needs a nerf. Many people use wall breakers, many use pekkas, many use golems, many use balloons, many use minions, many use hounds, many use wizards, and many use witches so should they all be nerfed as well?
So what? Good bases can still hold off, it's a perfectly viable strategy.
Been a while since i've been three-starred by a rival th8 with level 3 dragons. Th9s with an AQ on the other hand have a slightly easier time of gettin 100%. Level up your AD and find a better Anti-Drag base that centralizes AD, AT and maybe WT if you can. They are the biggest and only threats really to a dragon. MAx those out and your Two SAMs and attackers will be stuck using ground attacks to attack you.
The effectiveness of drags for and against you are just phases you pass through as part of COC growth. No fix is needed because for every player the problem will go away again of its own.
Best bet, enjoy the time they work for you, ride it out the time they work against you. Eventually you find yourself in a world where no one tried dragons any more.
I disagree. I think OP doesn't have much skill/experience with the game. Dragons are only useful in a certain window between TH 7-8, they are only an easy 3* against poorly designed basses. I've watched ppl fail against my low end TH 8 and high end TH 7 base over and over with dragons.
As an avid dragon user, they are not overpowered. They are costly, take a while to make, have less DPS per housing unit than almost any troop, and are like herding cats when using a mass attack of dragons. When I ever raid with them, I hit next often, because I have to find a base that messed up on air defence AND has a lot of loot, especially elixir, to offset the cost of 8-10 dragons and 1-3 rage spells. Hell, even the rage spells take longer than the dragons, being 45 mins each. I have 4 lvl9 barracks and can put out 8 dragons in an hour, but need to wait another 30mins for the last two. And 3 rage spells is more than 2 hours. This is not an army one just throws together, unless with boosted barracks and spell factory.
Sure, I could burn 300k-390k worth of elixir and flatten any TH7 (and I'm a TH7 as well), but why would I? I would need a damn good reason to invest that much resources into such a village burninating army. Dark Elixir raiding tends to be such a reason :3
I've gotten so much practice in using dragons, I know how few are needed per TH level. If there are no Air defence , and you place the thing right, you can use one dragon, with damage support, to raze a TH6 to the ground, or just use two dragons. Took out a derpy TH rushed TH9 once with 5 and no spells (yeah, was THAT rushed and badly planned), and a TH7 w/o air defence needs 4-5 dragons, and they have to be placed right, since archer towers and Tesla towers can still do considerable damage to dragons. Reason for minimal dragon use is to save on cost. since each one is 30k a pop! So if a TH7 can yield 150k+ Elixir, plus extra loot, and has crappy air cover, I'm going for it! Can plant 4-5 dragons and clear the place.
What wards people like me off from raiding you randomly out of the blue, besides low loot, is your Air Defense placement. I personally don't want to spend extra on rage spells, so putting your mid to high level air defense buildings behind a level/layer or two of buildings will discourage me from attacking you. When raiding with dragons, I want a sure and total win with loot, not a partial win with possible loot. Higher level your Air Defense, the better for you. Never put them out in exposed spots, since that's one thing I'm looking for. I can just plant one dragon there to eat it and go on my way to burning your base. Never put them too close together, since all I need to do is push towards then and take them out. Keep them buried in your base, but separate to make it hard to get at them all at once. I also look for people that are upgrading one too many air defenses at once. You can't imagine how thrilled I am seeing a loot full TH8 with all three Air Defense buildings down for upgrade. No spells needed, and can plant dragons in a way to take out archer towers fast. Also, high HP buildings, like storages, CC, and TH stall dragons greatly. They might as well be walls to me, and they require a rage spell to get past fast. Use that to your advantage, place your air defense with or behind these high HP buildings as a way to stall dragons long enough to shoot dthem down.
I 'pratice' full on raids of 10 dragons and 3 rage spells on farming TH8s with a lot of loot, especially Dark Elixir. My best raids have been versus TH8's with lvl5 air defense towers in well positioned spots. Will be TH8 soon, with lvl3 dragons and lvl5 rage in a month, and will be able to take other TH8s with 3 lvl6 air defenses. :D
But my dreams of dragon raiding will have to end, since at TH9 and TH10, air cover will just be too much, and again will have to change army composition. Oh darn, guess I'll have to adapt... again :p
