What is it like in m2/m1?

I'm th9 and I've pushed to m3. I wanted to push to m2/m1 to see what it's like but I can't get past 2700 trophies with my level of skill (I won't kid myself... I'm just not a very good attacker!).

So I'm wondering, what is it really like at m2/m1 level? Are there a decent number of bases with resources (collector and/or storage) that can be barched/arched? Is there a significant jump in base quality compared to m3? Do all the th9s disappear? Does everyone up there have infernos?

Haven't been up there myself but I've been told that its mostly 10s there with discos. There are some 8s and 9s but they get hit the moment they log out supposedly. As for barching, I'm assuming it really varies on attacker's skill and the defender's layout so its possible but would be difficult if you meet 10s with 3 xbows and discos.

In M2/M1 the majority of the bases you run into are maxed or near maxed th 10's. It is a good way to test and grow as a th 9 player but other than the loot bonus loot is much harder to attain for th 9's up there. Not too bad if you are dumping resources straight into walls though.

In my month and a half in masters 3 and 2 I never found one collector raid with more than 100k. Up there you have to go for the loot bonus or it isn't worth it.

In Master 1 and 2, it gets extremely difficult to find TH9's. It's almost all TH10's, the majority of whom have maxed or near maxed defenses. You don't see as many of those crappy rushed TH10's as you do in Master 3.

It would be extremely difficult to barch up there as a TH9. You can make it there, or even to Champion with balloonion though. I just did this recently as a TH9.

Let's just say... it is "fiery hot" in and above Masters II.

Haha thanks... sounds like there's quite a jump between m3 and m2. How do the th10s farm up there? Is it just balloonion? I also hear about people barching for bonus, but even if they hit a base every 20 minutes (it takes about 20min to fill camps with barch) that's not a lot of bonus. How does it work?

I reached M3 as a TH 8... stayed there for a couple weeks (the loot was AMAZING, and while snipes and low level pushers are very rare, each one nets you a free 120k/120k/800 from the loot bonus). As a TH 8, I was playing in large sessions, doing otherwise would result in difficulty maintaining your trophies. Now I'm a TH 9, and I'm heading up there again. It should be fine, I'm at 2400 trophies and haven't even gotten 2 of my storages taken in one attack. (As a TH 9 with all my defenses/walls TH 8 level). I'm not sure about M2/1, but if a TH 8 can farm in M3, a TH 9 should be able to farm in M2/1, or at least M3.

I'm also currently pushing for champs as a TH9 with Loonion (No Gowipe and Hounds not unlocked)
I'm stuck at around 3000 for around 2 days and almost the only thing you find are TH10s either max or near max (sometimes you get lucky) today i found a TH7 up here :D But yea, yesterday i lost 2 raids,so, be patient is the best advice i can give you. Or watch Witelightinghwd on Youtube (Now named mystlc7 i think) he has a great guide on pushing to champs.
(And sometimes you even find collector bases with empty infernos, i 2-starred 1 of them today for +15 :D)

Most bases in M2 and M1 are relatively easy to attack. Had they been designed better, they would likely be champ. You'll see a bit of max bases as well - from those who don't push in cups or don't attack well yet. Don't let a badge scare you from attacking though. Every base can be beat. GL!

Master 2 isn't too difficult, but at M1 the bases are a lot more challenging. Of course, most of them are maxed town hall 10s with legoes and discos, but base design is easy until 3050.

Over 2850, you will start to turn up in every Champ's list of offers, so as a TH9 it's very likely they will attack you for 3 stars (especially if you are loaded, which most seem to be, at least the few I find are). Above this range, it's nearly all TH10, for that kind of reason - over 2850, even TH10 can only last a few minutes before someone attacks them, anything less than TH10 will be attacked immediately and then almost surely be on shield.

Personally I avoid the range from 2850-3300 - farm below 2850 where the bases are mixed and there are plenty of decent collectors not just storages, or stay in Champs where with your TH out you can usually get a 1-2 cup snipe and enjoy a decent loot bonus (and challenge).

In terms of loot, I've found most of Masters can have good amounts of loot in storages as well as collectors, especially below 3000 (dead bases are mostly all M3 and below, but plenty in M2 seem to stay logged off long enough to get loot built up in collectors, or just never come back in time before their shield runs out). Above 3100 loot is highly variable, plenty are strapped for cash especially elixer, lots of the loaded bases are fully maxed, and most of the bases on offer are actually from around M1.

if you have a maxed out GoWiWi or GoWiPe attack for th nine, you should be pretty well off, Most players who are average at attacking can two star or even three star their own base, GoWiWi and GoWiPe would definitely be able to two star most th nines and some poorly designed th tens or lower level th tens, once in a while if you are very lucky there will be a th eight which you are almost certainly to three star

Thanks for all the information and the encouragement. Somehow I have barched up to 2800 without meaning to. I guess I'm getting better at picking my targets. I'm finding that base layout is important, but equally important is the level of defences because to get to 50% a few defences (usually archer towers) have to go down. Even with many buildings behind walls, 50% is still possible with low level defences.

I hardly see any dead bases or bases with storages exposed so I'm just barching for bonus... is that the right way to farm up here? I would imagine even if I get 3 solid wins an hour, the win bonus is still less than barching dead bases in gold league. And, of course, getting smashed every time I log off costs quite a lot!

As some have pointed out there is indeed a jump in base quality up here, and as someone else pointed out, gowipe helps a lot to maintain trophies. I have gowiped a couple of times with overnight armies and got over my fear of inferno towers =P

As a TH9, m3 is not very difficult to get at.. You can easily barch up there and get some league bonuses..
In m3 you'll actually find some premature th10's, some tougher th9's and actually a few th8 pushers..
Loot is not that great, I've got some people in my clan farming in masters.. but usually they only farm for winning bonus. Nearly no inactive players there because too many people are online in masters at the same time.

M2 Gets a little tougher, th10's start to get max infernos and you hardly will find anything below th9.. Still here and there you'll meet a th9.. But rarely.. Loot getting more and more bad.

M1 is called the toughest league.. Nearly no loot available and only active nearly maxed th10's..

Above 3200 (champs) you'll finde some more loot and the bonus is getting better..
But as a th9 you either get sniped or 3 starred.. some go for 2 stars when farming with barch..

That's really interesting. Sounds like there's a jump in loot at champs, and to get to it I need to cross the low loot master league.
