I find them useful. I also do not prioritize them, but before I move to next TH I make sure they are maxed. I think they help, when you stack two of them and wizards and barbs pass by. It does nice damage to them, so the ATs and Canons can finish them off with much less shots.
I don't even know the level of any of my traps.
I'll take care of these when my building will de maxed
maxed all my buildings for th9... now going for the 6 elixir collectors (gold collectors are done) and then for all traps...
that's what I always did
all buildings -> traps -> heroes + walls
(currently at 180 skulls and 70 legos, I'll move to th10 when I have full legos and lv20 heroes (both lv 10)
traps are TOTALLY worth it.
max them and have them in group of 3's...
With proper placement they can easily wipeout a pack of archers/ barbarians
worth it? yes
a priority? no ....
1gb + 2 maxed small bombs can do serious damage to barch or hogs :)

Anything that even slightly increases your defence is worth it, although In saying that, they are normally the last thing I max before going to the next th.
Worth upgrading eventually. But definitely not a priority as others stated
When CoC release the mini-bomb update, I maxed it (L6?) at TH9.
It's cheap to re-arm and fun to place outside.
