What point did you start being able to defend?

I'm mid way through Th8 now. Just wondering at what point can you log off the game and not be too worried that your base is gonna be flattened? I put my th outside, but as soon as I get a couple mill of both, a th9 with that grrrr AQ and those extremely OP giants come by and take it all. Makes me want to just upgrade to th9 and get an xbow. I do get a few snipers, but can't have too much loot.

I have all purple walls with a couple rows of skulls. I maxed th7 when I was there. Getting all splash to 6 and Teslas at 4 now, just started my point defense. Just wondering if I'll ever start winning some defense or just get used to it until th10 with l3 infernos?? Hoping when I get closer to max th8, I'll start avoiding total losses.

The queen does 90% of the work for TH9s. I can defend, if I have my base set up properly, sounds like more of a base problem then anything else.

It is always hard to defend, but especially hard as town hall 8. Don't expect to defend against town hall 9s... at th9 it's easier, but you will always lose at least sometimes no matter what town hall level you are.

Th 7, it helps to get to the game early. For you, however, near-maxed th 9 or better depending on the league.

What kind of base are you using? With th8 outside my base I quite frequently only lose by one or two stars. Also, what league are you in? Can't do anything against mass drag in wars myself.

I'm in gold 2 mostly. I can defend fine until I get 2m plus, then the th9s come and takes it. I can do the same against th7s, so I get it, just annoying that I can't log off with a lot of resources. I swear these people have some way of finding people with high resources. I get sniped pretty quickly k usually, but as soon as I have loot, th9 seems to find me first lol.

Just wondered if at th9 or late th8, people started feeling like they could log off and not worry too much.

Fully maxed townhall 10.
Maybe.

There will always be bullies. And one townhall above you with maxed troops bringing a full army with spells, is going to wreck any base.

Theres a loot cap system for a reason.

Maybe TH10 with infernos? TH9 still struggles to deal with Giants + AQ right now. Hitting TH9 with that and being hit by that combo

You cannot defend at any th level consistently. Towards the end of th9 you do get to a point where people will bypass you to find something easier. That's true in c3 and below. Partly this is due to xbows but I think the main reason is the 4 storages. Attackers have to make the assumption they will only get half the storages on a well designed base with a farming combo.

If you go to a higher league then th9s become the easy meal.

I defended when i was th3 because my friend got me playing this game and hes a high lvl

You start having a chance a TH8. I'm a new TH9 and i've already been flattened by a TH10:mad:

As a TH8, you cannot really defend against TH9/10, if they come with strong armies like L6 giants, L5 hogs, heroes, full spells, etc. I'm not even saying the occasional GoWi or Pekka stuff.
It just depends on your luck how far the army penetrates or take all.

I've been there as maxed TH8 defense and half skull/purple walls. Rolled over whenever there are loot.
Maxed TH9 also same, can lost 1/2 or 3/4 of resources easily to maxed TH10 armies.

near max th9, leggo walls help alot.im max th9 in gold 1 and I only get attacked when I decide to put my th outside when my farming session comes to an end . early th9 is the worst because th10 will flatten your base for that 350k

I am getting close to maxing TH 9 and I can defend well in crystal. It depends where you defend at. The th above you. Will always be able to flatten you tho.

Maxed TH9 still gets farmed by other TH9s and TH10s

You will defend loot best when you have maxed infernos. Even then you can still be farmed.

Attack is stronger than defense. It is simply how this game works.

I would say the vast majority of people don't even come close to all legos at th9.
and in his defense, he said NEAR max.

so, assuming he means, all max defense with all legos, that's pretty much max in my eyes.

Defense > walls

Everyone around here is too fixated on maxing out walls.
Maybe the guy doesn't want to grind out 3mil a wall

Maxed th10s will generally be two starred on defense in the champ league.

But of course they will win tons of defenses in the crystal league.

Take a very high TH 10 into 4000 cups = get 2 starred constantly
Take a very high TH 9 into 4000 cups = get 3 starred constantly

See the pattern? Notice how one base is stronger?

Upgrade your defences and specially your teslas and set your 3 teslas around your dark elixir. the queen hates teslas.

No matter how strong your base is, there is always one with a stronger army/or is better skilled at using it.

While TH10 is by no means immune to serious attacks, my stress about logging off is at it's lowest here. The second I had two active Infernos is the moment proper attacks on my base dropped.

I get more snipes and zaps now.

So while I have a stronger base attracting less 'proper' raids, I get more zaps instead. So no matter what, you are always at a risk. As it should be, or finding loot would be hard for us when we attack.

Staying here at crystal as a th9 with th out makes my defense and lava/lego walls useless.

Not only that, it depends if the defender has full loot available for gold, elixir and DE. When I'm near empty, I get tonnes of TH snipes (mine is at corner outside) whether I'm TH8/9/10.

When I have full loot, anything can come.

e.g. in this case (just happen today),with AQ31 and BK34.
Even though I just spent all; 5M gold on L2 x-bow, 3M on a lava wall and 6.75M elixir on army camp, but attacker still decides to try rob my 3k DE storage. I think I was lucky in this case, with 1x inferno on single, it kill both heroes.

Actually it completely depends how developed your base is and what th level yo are.
im th 8 and i always get flattened by that wall loving queen and level 6 giants. And when i was th 6 i was really afraid of those th 7 level 4 barchers. But now they dont really bother me since im a th 8. you are most vunerable at th 1, since you can get wiped out just with a bk. But th 10 with infernos dont have to worry about that stuff since there is no th 11, which means th 10 dont get farmed at all. It also depends on your base design.

At th8 you can get flattened by a TH9 barch + AQ + ONE rage spell (AKA typical th9 farming comp)
I know coz I always do that :p

It's only at TH9 that you get a fighting chance against the typical farming armies of barch/loonion.

I am TH10 with two max infernos, and actually almost all def. maxed and i still loose defenses (but no 100% anymore), it all depends on the strength of the opponent and how much he spends in his troops to attak.
Facing GOWIPE or Air attacks, i often loose, even some good barchers manages to 50% me.
No big deal, i loose one i attak and win 10.

I am a new TH7.Nice defense.Most people only get 40-49% on me.In Silver I.

yup but the worry is a lot less at th 10 c:. i often get farmed by th 9 and th 9 gets farmed by th 10 while at th 10 you no longer get pounded by farming armies, but gowipes and air attacks.

Hey OP, youre not going to like this.

On the bright side, when youre a MAXED th8, you can stop expecting an instant 3* on you. Most of the time.

TH9 isnt really any better, because its then TH10s that attack you. Might pick up the odd win if theyve thrown everything at the loot and only got 40 odd %.
If you have a TH9 trophy style base, especially in master 3 and up, start expecting 3* on a regular basis.

Sad fact of the game is, you cant genuinely expect to defend, until you have the highest TH to a decent standard. Until then, theres always someone bigger to pick on you.

From my experiences, a maxed or close to it TH10 can expect to win most defences up to m2, especially if anti-barch, then 50/50 in m1 as long as base is good and heroes awake.

After that its sketchy.

I've always been able to defend since TH3.

The trick is having the proper base.

I could easily three star that as a mid th9.

But i do agree with the fact its about having the right base, i have my town hall outside to be sniped and just cross my fingers that noone wants to take the chance to raid my storages. I have a fairly good farming base i think and very rarely get annihilated, but i still get the odd raid where i get completely wiped out.

Just how the game works, theres always someone bigger and better.

What i mean is that there is no level where you can be really safe, espacially if you play at a tr level which matches yout TH

I think we're talking about regular farming and not war/trophy pushing. Personally, I think it's at mid TH 9+ (with decent walls: skulls) or max TH9 (probably starting doing skulls).


the skulls and the overall black theme give a lot of intimidation effect. and at that point, the defences aren't as easy to break with farming armies (Barch/Giants/1-2 spells at max). You will rarely find loons in gold, and at crystal, there's a lot more people who will prefer a snipe to get the bonus if they aren't confident to take on your base

Its tough to take a lot of storages off a strong th9, even as a strong 10, unless using both heroes and multiple spells.

Stealing the dark tank is pretty easy even on a max 9, big walls and nasty layout, but may get little else.

In my view it's more about the range than the base.

My TH8 mini (will be max def in 3 days when the last tesla finishes) has been offering capped loot non stop for the last month in G3/s1. I'd say once or twice a week I get a serious attack. If I was in G1 with that same loot, I'd be hammered constantly by the 9s.

Back when I was upgrading my main, I noticed a marked change at mid TH9 in G1/C3. I was getting almost no serious attacks. But get to C2 and I would be flattened by hogs (in the bad old days of hogs). This was an awful long time ago, the specific ranges may have changed but the point is valid.

I've had 15+ attacks with this new layout. Only 1 has broken into a gold chamber. Another broke into a gold and elixir chamber. The others, nothing. Some bases are just OP.

One thing that will help quite a bit is climbing up to crystal 3. I spent all of TH8 in crystal 3 and it wasn't difficult to farm there. Having your town hall out is good, but the league bonus in gold 2 is not high enough for many people to even bother sniping. Once you get to crystal 3 no one ever passes an easy snipe. If the first person to see your base does not have an army designed for fully raiding a base (and most of them do not) they will just snipe it and leave even if you do have full resources available in your storage.

There is no point at which you can prevent every kind of attack, even when your defense is maxed.

But...

You can limit what a player can take from you. A strong TH8 can deter your average TH9, and a weak TH8 doesn't really need to hang onto anything worth stealing.

Place you TH outside and most times people will just snipe you and you are back behind a shield. If you want to try and make people fight to get trophies off you then be prepared for them to bring stronger armies.

TH8 is basically that golden era for most players, lots of loot available, easy to spend it, and when you aren't playing you can have strong mines and pumps just ticking it away.

You can't expect to not get attacked and be able to keep people out all you can do is try to encourage the types of attacks that will give you what you want.

A pretty developed TH9 is probably when you can relax a bit (even though you can still get flattened by a decent strength TH10 attack).

TH8 gets hammered by not much more than TH9 farming troops. With my mini I don't really balk at having a go at a strong TH8 with Barch and a rage and I usually get what i want. There is so much loot available to TH8 though that it is a bit much to expect to defend it most of the time.

DE is a pain in the ♥♥♥♥ to hold on to at TH8 though.

Always have lvl 5 wizards in your cc and put it at the center of your village where lurring the troops out with barbs or archers is impossible.
That way you will most of the time wipe the first wave breaching your walls especially giants.

I'm mid th9 (half my main def [wizT, mortar, tesla, AD] maxed, xbow lvl2) and if i manage to try and stack ressources, i still get steam roll for at least half my loot minimum (5/8 storages)

so idk yet...

that's why right now i took a break upgrading defense and i'm working on walls lvl9 and heroes, putting my th out, now i'm 95% of the times sniped and don't have to worry too much.. so i'll tell you more about it in 3-4months once i try again to gather ressources for the rest of my defense

You could do a mix ot defenses and walls, which is what i currently do (becoz i have nothing left to upgrade with elixir actualy) :
Use gold for building (which may mean to store a lot)
Use elixir un walls (wich means you do not have much to be stolen)
and expose your TH

Snipe is likely
the people who are seeking elixir won't attack
the people seeking for gold will only attak if they are ready to loose elixir

I only have AT's left now and one dark barracks and my th9 upgrades are done. I did pretty much the same, took a break midway and worked on walls. My excuse was that the loot wasn't good at the time and I things in RL that meant I couldn't spend much time. To be honest though, losing half your storages isn't a serious loss. It's only when you lose all your storages that really hurts. I'd say grind out the xbows if you can as lvl 3 are much improved. Canons can be maxed quite easily. You've already done most of the tough stuff.

Skull walls help. I put some skull walls at key points and I went from getting 80%ed to about 66%ed. TH9s are tough with level 6 giants and the AQ. You cannot stop them, you can only hope to slow them down.

She doesn't really save your butt when a strong attacker is going to steamroll your base.

I've got a L25 Queen, but still TH10s with L7 troops can destroy almost everything in their path to my core

As a TH8, simply never. As you pass mid TH8, the weaker attackers start passing on your base and only the strong ones will take you on, like full dragon attacks (other TH8s), or TH9s. The only way is to leave your TH outside and hope that by the time a strong opponent finds your base, someone gives you a free shield.

Upgrading to TH9 will not solve your problem, as the stronger TH9s will still attack you and then you will be a target for TH10s too.

Vs other Th8s? When you have maxed everything, you might be able to hold to 1 star vs max TH8 troops with full spells and heros, but you'll likely get 2 starred or better.

Vs Th9s? Never. They should be able to 3 star you if they come in fully loaded. Of course they should be able to 2 star a fully upgraded Th9 too.

Vs Th10? If you're lucky you can prevent 3 stars.

Pretty much that. This is based on wars, where everyone brings their best army in.

Now, if you're getting 2 or 3 starred vs farming armies, your base needs a major overhaul.

At the end of TH8 when all defenses maxed, King was 10.. Although a really good TH9 with lev6 troops, both Heros and all 4 spells could take most my loot sometimes, Generally it was no more than half my loot and a lot of times it started to become failed attempts. At that time no TH8 ever could get my loot, only beefy TH9

Th8, mid- late stage, is when you can log off and feel safe about your resources.

I have had my townhall outside almost the entire time I've played this game (67 defense wins), so I rarely win any defenses. As TH9 in gold league most of the time, I have noticed a large increase in the number of people who only snipe me, as opposed to at TH8 when I would get sniped and then my base would get flattened too. It's probably because I'm in Gold league though.

The key is to reasonable defend against farming armies one TH higher than you. If someone ever comes with full spells, heroes, heavy troops, etc....you are toast. Just accept it.

Prolly mid TH 8 for me, at that point most TH 9 attacks only took half my storages (if that, even), and most just sniped.
