Never ending DEBATE: MAXING TH9 including heroes and walls or NOT?

Its been over 6 months since i maxed my Th9 defences, I have time and again thought of just upgrading it to TH10 only my leader #agrippa# to convince me not to do it. I must say maxing your base completely has its advantages and some days you just get bored to do heroes and walls. My heroes are level 23 each now and have done half level 10 walls. I must admit its WORTH IT! Not only i have been winning good defences in each league mostly M3/C1, the base has been doing great in ClanWars.
Heroes make a huge difference to any attack after level20. Many love the queen however its the King who is brilliant. It soaks up all the damage while destroying anything in its path while the Queen finishes it off. Its really helpful in GoWiWi GoWiPe to get 3 stars also with the hybrid attacks. I would recommend sticking it out and maxing it as many in our clans are doing.
If you cant as Hagler'(clanmate) always says ''Get errr done - just upgrade!!!!' and have fun with your game,who cares about the fine nuances of the game.

As Sid said, it is so worth it to max out heroes and walls before TH10, but the main thing it takes is determination and perseverance, you have to be able to not upgrade the town hall whilst most of your builders are free, and you have to stick to just upgrading for a while (as they do take a while). All in all it is worth it and that is my plan for TH9:)

Not worth it to max heroes as they are definitely easier as th10. Half worth it to max walls but proper th10 farming is pretty damn close to th9 farming these days so I personally don't think its worth keeping free builders over, especially since you are almost done.

The only reason to max is some superficial achievement, and you may receive a pat on the back from the clan and forum, but that's it. As I said above the actual utility for you to continue walls with free builders is marginal at best.

What about the easy th8s? i agree DE raiding doesn't change but walls are definitely easier. Plus as game is maxed at TH10 i think its better to wait it out at 9 and max it to the last brick!!

I'm essentially in the same position as the OP.
I'm halfway done with getting to lvl 9 walls from 8 and heroes at 17 each. Everything else is maxed. I'm not sure how close I'm going to get to maxxing everything, my current goal is all lvl 9 walls and heroes at 25.

I use to think the same thing. TH9 max def, max troops/spells, lvl 9 walls, lvl 15 hero's, max everything else. Farming DE at TH10, as documented by several guides and players, is better than TH9. I do not have far to go for troops at TH10. If you do not have troops max, then yes stick around TH9 for a while and max out your troops, huge difference. With 240 troop slots, barching/BAM/BAG for loot is easier. Yes there is the loot penalty, most of my loot comes from TH9 and TH10 now anyway, so I won't miss the TH8's. Wall are the most expensive upgrade in the game and the most time consuming. If you want to, max em, I have chose to stop at lvl 9 lego and move up. I could stick around TH9 for 2-3 more months and probably get lvl 10 done, but in 2-3 months I will have most of TH10 max, that will make up for the walls and then I can restart on the wall building process. It is a give and take, but if your troops are not max, ya, stick around TH9. Hero's are much easier to upgrade at TH10, you can only upgrade 3 dark troops at TH10 so the DE will start pouring into Hero's much faster.

I would like to think I will have the patient to upgrade walls to level 10, but when it comes down to it, I will most likely do the same as you now I've read your post. But what is your view on the no TH10 campaign? I'm not sure what to think of the people that reckon the TH10 upgrade was a mistake and makes things so much worse.

Maxing heroes and walls takes a lot of time and it is pretty hard to do..
And it is hard to do without having a sleeping builder. I already almost finish walls to level 9 around 10 more to go,
Heroes are in mid teens. I still did not experience a sleeping builder.
In terms of warring you do have a slight advantage but if you really check it you are falling behind
If you have a colleague who started at the same time at you. He is already a full th10 with mid heroes while you are still in th9

My view is "to each his/her own". We have made it a point to max out each TH level in our clan before going up. I will be the first to go to TH10, if it is a success, more will follow. Most are sticking around to finish their troops. I concentrated on camps and troops when I went to TH9 and finished those a long time ago. TH9 has been a cakewalk with max troops. I still get 400k-800k raids with 500-5k de. The only difference I will see is when I attack a TH8 ( loot penalty) which I rarely do now. Maxing out troops left my hero's behind a little as mine are 15/16, but I have no problem getting enough de to upgrade them now on a weekly basis. I will only have Minion 6, Golem 5 and LavaHound 3 to upgrade with DE, the rest will go towards hero's and that 3rd DE pump will make a nice addition. I will let the walls come into play once when I can, at 3 mil each for lvl 10, I have other things that I can upgrade first. I wanted to stick around for lvl 10 walls, but I do not see an advantage to it now. They only slow down the enemy, remember. 1500 extra hp for lvl 10 is nice, but I am getting hit by TH10's in war where jump spells and freeze are doing the most damage to me, not the amount of troops busting through a wall. lvl 9 walls at a minimum are a must though. 2 properly placed jump spells can give enemy troops enough access to your base to get 2 stars.

In wars defence is still the same as a good gowiwi shall two star any Th9 base, though with high level heroes centred and defending it is huge advantage against hybrid attacks. Attacking improves a great deal.
As per the time lost in maxing walls i think one would be able to coverup and end at a better place than someone who upgrades at the same time. Remember at Th10 Gold and Elixir farming is a little more difficult and armies take a longer time to build as one raids th9 and 10.

Its true that gold/elix is slightly harder and you may judge that it is worth having 5 sleeping builders to take advantage of that. I personally don't think it is worth it but only you can put value on sleeping builders and lvl10 walls so nobody can rightfully criticise you for choosing to stay to finish walls. But heroes are significantly easier at th10, I don't have the exact numbers but anywhere up to 2x I think. Don't bother too much with heroes unless you are maxing th9 just for the sake of maxing th9, focus on walls and go up, but obviously take any good de you come across.

Just think about what the no th10 campaign is, its mainly a bunch of th9s who speculate about th10 without experiencing it first-hand and are too scared to go up, most th10s would tell you it isn't too bad.

Im in a similar situation. Im kind of just working on heroes and walls until I get bored, and then im heading up. Ihave about 100 lavas done and heroes in the low 20s. Who knows....maybe two months....maybe two weeks. Im undecided right now because farming is still entertaining me. I will say that Im working on maxxing hounds now. I think there really isn't absolute correct answer.

2 questions to the OP, would you rather raid a max TH9 with lv30 heros, full lavas, or a TH10 with lv15 heros, and full skulls with max TH9 defenses, lv3 xbows, and lv3 infernos, which one, in your opinion would be harder to beat? Now question 2, which would you rather prefer raiding your base? the TH10 mentioned above with 5 spells, 35 cc, 240 camp space and maxed troops, or the TH9, even though both players spent the same time playing because 1 upgraded earlier he ended up with a quite different base and set of troops, answer those questions (although I know the answer lol) and consider if upgrading will be advantageous or not
EDIT: oh oh wait, IK someones gonna say but wait the TH10 will get smashed by other TH10s right? lemme guess, by saying that you imply that the TH9 won't?

Surely I would rather raid or attack a full LAVA walls with his lvl30 heroes...Rather than raiding/attacking max 2 infernos 3 max xbow with other th9 max defense hahahah. I'm TH9 I might have a chance using quadrolavaloon or gowipe, gowiwipe with one jump spell vs max TH9 defense NOT with the above TH10 descriptions. :) no chance even his walls were full skulls only...That's for me... going ups on TH10 you get extra spell FREEZE, CAMP units and BEST defense like twin INFERNOs. Ofc you're still be vulnerable for TH10 raider because of extras as mention. BUT IF YOU"RE AN ACTIVE TH10 P L A Y E R..... OBVIOUSLY you could pull in more and faster rather losing more and slower and getting beat enough with TH10 who is active and always online.
my ideal TH9 only legos is enough (because of jump) heroes 15 and press that button to get those twin infernos and freeze for firefighter and extra cc and troops ....YMMV

I'm still a new TH9. Just have my AQ upgrading to 5 as we speak and my Burger King is a 10. I plan to take the AQ to 15 and then start catching the king up and go in groups of five. I fully plan to complete the walls since you can use both gold and elixir. Once that's done I'll go TH10. I don't know how far I'll get the royals since I have done zero DE troops upgrades. Really only plan on doing Golems, minions and witches but that's a pretty huge chunk of DE. I have no issue with sleeping builders to do walls, I actually like it.

Really no right or wrong answer, there are pros & cons for both sides [link in my signature for a topic about that]

Ultimately decide what you will find a more enjoyable way to continue your clash journey.

Nothing makes me happier than 3* these bases with air based raids or hog hybrids... absolutely my favourite thing in game right now.

I think although it is a personal choice, maxing walls now may not be the most PRACTICAL decision given the circumstances now.

Right now, we are looking at a spike in LavaLoonion attacks, Jump spells usage & mass hog/balloons army compositions, all of which have one thing in common, nullifying the effectiveness of high level walls during combat. Back in those days when most players were using traditional GoWiPe & GoWiWi to 2 star Town hall 9s & 10s, yes it was important to upgrade walls to delay them/make their attacks more challenging. Ask yourself right now if the same thing still applies today during clan wars.

Then again, to each his own. Everyone should play their own game the way they want to.

Also a fair point, I've become a HUGE fan on the jump spell of late, nothing more satisfying then placing one and jumping into a cute lava core of a TH9. Without Infernos it is unstoppable and DE storage loss is guaranteed.

I have 2 th10 accounts, one which used to be only on my wifi only ipad until I recently figured how to link it to my phone.

My formerly last active account had maxed th9 defenses when I went up, but only half skulls and 13/12 heroes. With a more casual account, sleeping builders makes no sense.

At the time I went up with that account, I was farming in m2 doing walls and heroes. I hit 150 legos and was planning to max it.

But then I saw the reality of th10 farming. The naysayers had exaggerated.

For less than the cost of legos maxing my walls, I have max infernos, max teslas, max mortars, max wiz towers, some max air, and an working on those point defense. My third xbow is nice and black.

Sure, maxing th9 is cool. A maxed th9 is great in clan wars ( on offense, not defense, as I am reminded every time we get maxed th9 2 starred every war).

On my formerly casual account, I finished my pink building upgrades, so I have started dumping pink into walls. I am up to 30 legos in just over a week. I suspect I will get full legos about the same time I have maxed all defenses. I will then dump everything into walls.

I get maxing th9 if you can hold out, but th10 is great

That I won't deny, a maxed TH9 does look nice; and those of us who have been around a while know it takes a lot of effort to achieve.

Just personally believe much of that time would have been better spent at TH10. But everyone has different goals, which is what makes the game awesome. You don't have to play in just one way to succeed.

In a similar position where I just finished all my legos, now onto lavas, heroes in their early teens and about 2 months left of lab upgrades to go, other than those it's just a few traps and collectors to go. I estimate that I will probably take about 4 or so months to max my heroes and walls.

At this stage I still plan on maxing TH9 and using that time to hone my skills as a TH9 attacker and really try to explore all there is to explore in TH9 before going up to TH10. I found that when I was waiting for the lab to finish in TH8 I was in a similar position and so I explored all the various attacks my mind could conjure up in addition to the ones on the forums and I found that was the best fun I had during my time as TH8, in fact that was the best fun I had playing this game.

Id just go to th 10...maxing walls is a waste of time at th 9, at th 10 you get more troop upgrades and other things to break up working on nothing but walls. To work on nothing but walls would bore me to death so id rather work on multiple things at once than just the walls. Frankly I think the price of all level of walls needs to be cut at least in half. I mean people can fly over your walls, jump over your walls, or just blow them up, to me they are almost the most pointless thing in the game and more of a bragging right than they are a help to defending. I am th 10 and maxing out all my defenses first, than last thing I will touch now is my walls, I have about half purple and half skull walls, and will stay that way until everything else is done. To stay at th9 I think is limiting your attacking ability and defending ability. Your missing out on the best maxed troops, and an extra xbow and 2 inferno towers...it makes me laugh when people say to max th 9 before going to th 10...go ahead and do it, your only hurting yourself.

I a TOWN HALL 8 enjoy smashing TH9s with a full set of legos, I haven't ever smashed a max TH9 with full lava, but I have easily 2 starred lava cores before, TH9 defense really is weak, a TH10 with lv1 walls and max defense is still 20x stronger than a TH9 with max defenses and full lava, with TH8 troops having the capability to easily raid those precious walls and heros you wasted time maxing, what's the point? you could be TH10 and getting much better attack and defense, everyone says TH10 loot sucks but all the max TH9s complaining about getting raided for 320k should know that those people are lairs, they just want to keep TH10 to themselves so they can enjoy farming you (unenlightened clashers) I try to look T things from advantages of both sides, but maxing TH9 has absolutely no advantages to your game, the only positive things are, you can brag about your walls, and you can make it easier for TH10s to steal your loot, esp with lv7 giants, I love it when Th10s in my can share lv7 giant raids, farming armies 3 starring max TH9s easily, brilliant stuff lol

its a game designed to have fun with it not designed as another homework, if you feel bored maxing then upgrade to th10

And Jason we love crushing maxed townhall8s with just barch and heros. It's just the way the game is. People are going to get to the same point eventually why not be patient and max everything as you go. It's not hard for good townhall9s to two star 10s in war so I don't see the point of rushing

You dont see the point of rushing because you didnt read the whole thread. They have mentioned army camp, infernos, xbow, freeze spell, 3rd drill.

Of course people can play how they want. But most people have good reason for their style of play, either rushing or maxing

I have over a billion gold grab on both a th 10 and a th 9. My advice is if you plan on maxing everything at some point in the future (as in max th 10 walls and all) then stay and max at th 9. I can mindlessly barch at th 9 and rake in a couple million an hour without a problem. As a th 10 I have to be on all the time at masters for less loot.

It's not really a debate, just depends on what your goals for the game are.

Bottom line if you ever want a max base (lvl 11 walls, etc) you should optimize loot at lower TH's and max everything you can.

If max troops, high offense, infernos, and freeze are your top priorities then go ahead and go up to TH10.

Lvl 10 walls are exponentially easier to do at TH9 than 10. Heroes are easier at TH10 however, and pretty much the higher you go.

Ultimately the choice is yours. Do you want to be just another average max defensive TH10 with weak walls and heroes (you see this quite often), or a ridiculous 9 going into TH10 that will be better than the vast majority of Th10's with only a few upgrades?

Either choice is valid, just depends on the individual.

Most smart players who don't have the discipline/patience to max however will probably go up to 10 after full legos and lvl 20 heroes. That's a happy medium between the two really as it's neither that hard nor time consuming to accomplish.

I don't know what I'm going to do. On one hand, I like maxing my base, on the other, that's going to be a long time sitting around with idle builders. And you can't exactly war effectively without at least one hero up and war is my favorite thing about this game.

I guess I'll just burn that bridge when I come to it.

I have a long way to go but my aim is to get lv20 hero and atleast 150 lava before moving to th10.

I said this for the sake for 100% farming purpose only....

What is the different between maxing your heroes and wall in max def TH 10 compare you max it on max def TH 9 ?

1. loot penalty vs loot bonus ?
2. defense with inferno vs defense without inferno ?
3. farm with lv 7 giant, barch vs farm with lv 6 giant, barch ?

One thing i remember when i'm goes up to TH 9 from TH 8, i really want that lvl 6 giant & Arc + 220 camp to farm better DE. I only spend 2-3 weeks on TH 8 to get giant, barb, arc, wb & gob to lv 5 then i upgrade to TH 9. Well, i reach TH 9 with 95% skull walls and very premie def, splash max but canon and arc tower is on lv 7 and lv 8. I suffer for 1 month then it's all pay out when i get that lv 6 giant & arc, i farm better and more effective. my gold grab grow twice or almost triple, heroic heist have a significant change, it's very easy to send 2 heroes to upgrade continuously

And back at that time i plan to stick on TH 9 to max all my def, heroes and walls before go to TH 10, but the situation has changed. Barch & giant already unlocked for TH 10, and i don't think lv 7 barch and giant have a huge difference on fighting inferno but those 240 camp lv 7 will farm well on max TH 9. If you can farm that TH 8 max def with giant lv 6, you can farm those TH 9 with lv 7 giant too.

No point to stick on that TH 9 anymore to max your walls & heroes. Situation already changed

Just make a deal with yourself. That way you push harder. Say get the heroes too 25 and the walls where you want them. You do punish your clan if you were a war clan by going to TH10. It seems like those town halls and infernos are worth a bunch of war points towards your base.

Took the plunge to TH 10 today with lvl9 walls and heroes at 15 & 26. Don't think I will regret this :)

Max or near max th9s get matched vs th10s because the game thinks its even. If the th10s have the inferno sticks and max troops, you actually hurt the clan more. Dont go out giving bad advice for the sake of the new players

Maxing TH9 might be worth it if you really farm your walls and heroes quickly.

But people that stay TH9 for a year or more (meaning their lab is idle for 6+ months as are most builders) are just crazy. By the time you finish TH9, you could have had max Infernos and all max troops, and your heroes would probably advance just as quickly. Not to mention, by the time you finally get TH10, SC will have TH11.

If you have such a hard time farming DE at TH9, then you should go to TH10 and use additional camp space / spells / better troops to help you.

I'm farming heroes and walls but I'm just barely finishing up my TH9 traps and the new collector/pumps. And my lab has been going non-stop for the entire time and I'm just finishing all the important troops (everything is maxed except for Valk and Healer)...

With BK23 and AQ26, I'm headed to TH10 within the next 2-3 weeks.

As a reasonably maxed Th10 base holder (with only lvl 8-9 wall) farming around 2200-2400, there's nothing nicer than seeing a maxed Th9 base with 400k+ gold/elixir and 3k+ DE and wiping it out 100% every time.

I'd literally pay to see their reaction when they see their base crumble without the essential Th10 defences, and I'm not talking about wall, which is very poor value for money and the last thing you should be upgrading beyond level 8-9. Then I'd also happily to pay to see their expression when they click on the revenge button and a tear forms as they quickly realise that they stand zero chance.

MAX DEF > MAX WALLS in TH9

It really wastes a lot of time if you wait with idle lab and builders JUST to max walls and Royals in TH9.

To me, the primary prerequisites are; if you have max Lab upgrades and def turrets, minimum max Skull walls, and Royals 10-15 each... then its time to go.

the upgrades you are putting off in the TH 10 lab and new defense levels can be and eventually will be done at TH 10 anyhow; sometimes easier...(again with max camps, and experience)

because in the long run (and this game is not a sprint) you can still complete those wall and Royal upgrades in TH10. and as another has stated; in the time you lab/builders sit idle in TH9, you can get Dual Infernos and 3rd X-bow maxed or close to it. plus other upgrades. 3rd Drill optimizes DE production

Yes it does stink for losing out on TH8, but only if that is your primary diet. After you max camps you can farm TH9 a lot easier (with BAM/Barch) and they have 4 storages to gobble up. (though they do have better equipped defenses to repel your troops)

The choice is yours, there is no 'wrong' answer here. just know all paths lead to the same destination. ---> Max 10, have fun getting there is the most important thing here.

I would say not worth it. If your end goal is to trophy hunt, then definitely not worth it. I have been holding steady at 4k for about 5 months and have lvl 25 heroes and am just now finishing my lvl 9 walls. lol. Yep, I rushed, but it was FUN!

I can also 3 star TH8s with my TH9 acc, that's nothing special, but the time a TH10 has to get the defenses up while a TH9 has idle builders, are you saying a 7 month old TH10 is easier to beat than a max TH9? because from what I gather walls are gonna take round about that long, if you have the power to 2 star that TH10 you can easily 3 star the TH9 who wasted time maxing, I'm talking benefits of staying at TH9 to max out, and saying it's good to be patient and max out, why not? because while you are patient and maxing out all the rushers will 3 star you over and over and over and over again, and are you gonna say I'm lying when I say you can't do anything significant about it because of their TH10 defenses and infernos? I think not, I maxed my base, I did it for fun, not for benefits, because there are no benefits to maxing any town hall below 10, TH9 I would definitely recommend maxing defenses first but after that you are really hurting your power and potential in the game

Here is my analysis on maxing walls&heroes vs going th10. (work/family safe)

^ This is long but in summary: Upping to Th10 with combined L35 heroes and full legos will save you 350 days of builder time and put your lab 3 months ahead of a max wall&hero th9.

In 3 months lab time...you can max pekka, golem, hound, wiz, and minions i think.

In the end it's your village, so if you want to max it be patient and max it. If not then just upgrade it and get over with it.

Right now I'm TH9 with 113 lava finished, rest lego.

AQ is 20 and BK is 18.

Initially I was thinking AQ and BK to 20 then I'd upgrade, but sometimes I start thinking of getting them to 25 first.

My lab is finished and all defenses are max.

Maybe I will just keep farming until the next update comes out, then go to TH10 if there is nothing new to upgrade at TH9.

That might be your experience, but it's certainly not mine, as a max'd defences TH9 working on walls, I've been having fun stealing loot from fairly advanced TH10's with infernos in Crystal 1/Masters 3, and as for Th10's smashing my base up, it's just not happening with their max'd troops, if anything TH10s attacking me talk the talk, but certainly can't walk the walk.

The reality is there may be TH10s that can 3 star me, but the reality borne out by the laughable attacks is that most can't because they lack the skill because they haven't spent enough time in the game perfecting their raiding skills.

Every one plays the game differently, no right or wrong way. ;)

I'm one of those patient th9's, although I focus on heroes more then walls. My BK is 22 and AQ is 21 and I've got about 70 skulls, rest lava's. My defenses are mostly upgraded less a few AT's that I've saved to upgrade as I hit certain wall milestones and a few of my single bombs are needing to go to lvl 6 still. I'm in no hurry to go to th10 for a very important reason. I enjoy farming. I don't enjoy pushing. When my th10 defenses are maxxed, the game will feel empty for me I believe. Doing walls / heroes gives me something worthwhile to farm, while still getting good results on my loot haul.

I realize I am more prone to lose loot from th10's without IT's to defend my base. I realize my lab is idle and my builders are idle, but what I also realize is that "end game" playing (less gold loots / trophy pushing) will be the end of the game for me. So I'm stretching it out, and hoping to enjoy the game longer, looting is what I love. If th11 comes out, it will actually be great news. I like being one th behind personally, means there is still some track ahead to go yet.

Just my thoughts.

So true springer. I couldn't tell u the last time I was 3 starred. I'm happy where I'm at and in 6 months my 10 will look alot better than these rushed 10s because I decided to wait 3 months. 94 lavas left, queen is 27 and King Is 21 . like everyone said it's a personal preference. But I want to Max all eventually. Plus it's fun 2 starring a 10 in war w out freeze n max troops. Clash on guys enjoy the ride

Many in this thread are of the opinion that its not worth it! But then again you dont come across many maxed TH9s in the game. So they will never know. It will be nice to see who's base is better in the long run and i am sure Maxed TH9s wont ever regret.

Heroes make a huge difference to any attack after level20. Many love the queen however its the King who is brilliant. I would recommend sticking it out and maxing it as many in our clans are doing.

I tried, I upgraded 150 level 10 walls and level 25 heroes before I decided to go TH10. I decided to go TH10 because I got tired of getting 3 starred by level 4 hog toting TH8s back when hogs were OP.

This is absolutely not true. You're confirming yourself as a poor attacker if you state that walls don't matter, as walls are exactly what prevent common farming armies from coring your base.

In any case, what you're saying is nonsensical. If you're 100%ing a "maxed" TH9, then obviously you're not doing it with barch. You are using an elixir-heavy army, with multiple spells, and at least one hero. Most likely your clan castle too. At that point, why are you playing it up as such an achievement when you get the 3-star? Obviously, a skilled TH9 could just as easily core you for your DE, even if at a loss of elixir – isn't that just what you're doing here?

Walls are horribly annoying to max at th9, I myself have 100 legos (lvl9) and am going to upgrade my th after I get all to level 9. For a player who isn't on 4 hours a day, it is very hard to upgrade each wall to level 10 for 3 mil each. Not recommended

Because there really is no right or wrong answer.

If you are a seriously hardcore farmer, can put the time in and gem some hero upgrade time making the decision to fully max TH9 would no doubt be very easy. Because you may well max walls first, or only have a week or two of walls after max defense.

For everyone else, you'll end up having disadvantages staying at TH9 for longer. You have to make up your own mind as to whether the benefits outweigh them.

Its even better now since th8s have two DE drills and DE is better in gold leagues. Will say again, max it. Rushers know nothing!!

My plan is to max all troops and spells. I think i can finish all lego walls by the time i finish all my lab upgrades. And for heroes i aim for 20/20. It will take lot of time to max heroes and walls judging from my playing time.

TO each his/her own. I plan to max out TH9 solely because it isnt hard to do so. Yes, I have the time, and the inclination for such a task. Im a guy who farmed up legos in two weeks( when i got the urge I did it), and my AQ has not seen usage ever since she was born. Lavas arent too hard to do either, hardcore farmers will find maxing th9 easier than others. Yes, the only thing is the time it takes for heroes, and Im sure i will be sitting with full lavas and max troops with nothing but heroes to do, but i intend on maxing the heroes, just so that I have it easier at TH10. I dont want any regrets going forward.

Heroes: No, not a noticeable difference.

But if your walls are at 10, your heroes should be maxed :)

I currently am sitting at 23 lavas and AQ/BK both at 15. The only big upgrades left are ATs and cannons, and then I guess I will probably focus on farming more DE. Honestly, with school taking up a large portion of my free time, I just can't see myself completely maxing my walls to 10.

I will probably end up pulling the trigger once my heroes are ~20. With a rough estimation, I'm guessing I will have ~60 lava walls by that time. My heart is in farming, but it is very difficult being a junior pre-med college student and having my attention focused on other things more important than this game this semester and coming summer.

You haven't finihed skull walls so i doubt you can finish legos without stopping your builders...forget lavas trust me

Its worth it to me to max out everyting at your current th lvl. if people see a maxed out base, they be afraid to attack you.

More than attacking skills you need patience to max walls, if you are an average farmer it will take you more time. I farm a lot and have been sitting on maxed defences for more than 6 months now.

If you want to go to TH10 and try to 3 star other TH10 in war, then absolutely max your heroes at 9.

On the other hand if you want to go to TH10 to be a 2 star warrior in war, then go ahead and enter TH10 with level 15 heroes

My plan for th9 was to get the heroes to 25 and full legos before upgrading, as well as finishing all lab upgrades.

I have just started my last building upgrade, defense and traps are maxed. I have 10 skulls left and the heroes are 19/18. The lab has about 5 weeks left.
I left my regular (war) clan for the remainder of the lab time and my goal is to have both heroes upgrading at all times. That should get them to about lvl24 give or take, depending if I can keep up the DE farming. Any resources will be dumped into walls, so I should get a good head start on the lavas and really only have 3 builders idle for a few weeks. I gotta push hard but I think it's worth it. I'll see how much I enjoy or hate it and then decide whether to max completely or go with my original plan.

Thx a lot guys. Yeah i haven't so much time to play, i like when i can raid in session but i can't do it for more than 1/2 hours a day. I don't buy gems (i use them only in 1 gem event) so with bam i can raid about 1 million gold&elix in 1 hour unboosted, if i'm lucky and if i don't care about trophies.

My plan was to reach legos and max def then move to th10 to enjoy infernos and max level troops. Is it recommended for a not hardcore farmer to reach th10 earlier?

Your completely right Sid. Patience is the key to everything in CoC, and it takes a lot of patience to max out walls. But it also depneds on how much you play everyday and how much loot you can get everyday

I'm not a hardcore farmer and usually don't have enough time during week to do a big farming session to gather gold for a Wizard Tower (to say something), so usually keep dumping resources on walls while wait for a free friday night to farm 5M gold and upgrade. I'll need a ton of time to max all my buldings, but hope that in a few months, while building remaining defenses and buildings my walls will be all legos.
Anyway, answering you: In case I upgrade all buildings and lab upgrades and only royals and walls pending, don't see myself waiting to get all legos at 2-3 walls a day for 3-4 weeks. If that happen, will go to TH10 with skulls and be part of those "not maxed" people at TH10. Won't rush for Infernos, but for sure won't keep myself at TH9 to put royals at 30 and max walls.

Ive been at th9 since september now and have kind of made up my mind about when I want to go to th9. Since getting lvl 30 heroes is hopeless for me (I am somehow not able to farm alot of Dark Elixer) I have descided to upgrade to th9 once my heroes are lvl20. My king is currently going to lvl 12 and my queen is lvl 10. I have 27 more walls to upgrade till I have all lvl 9 walls. I have maxxed all my defenses exept for cannons and Archer towers. Once my king and queen are lvl 20 I will begin to upgrade my last defenses. Of course while im doing those defenses I will be putting dark elixer into my heroes. Although I think that I will upgrade my th then regardless of my amount of lvl 10 walls, I might have second thoughts and grind out the walls.

Are you looking for a clan? If so join the SPINNING family. We have alot of people going to max th9 and have some small competitions going between some of the players. We are very supportive and many of us have been in the family for over a year.
The clans are SPINNING GIANTS as our main war clan and ELITE GIANTS as the high farm clan. FARMING GIANTS and HEROIC GIANTS are our other two clans.

Hi, it was nice reading your post, somehow encouraged me to continue be patient and stick to my own plan, which is very similar to yours, except I'm lower level TH9 than you, in general achievements (heroes, walls). The information is useful too for us who follow behind.
Sometimes is hard to be patient when I think about those 20 extra troops & 1 the freezing spell plus more spell factory capacity, or getting those infernos. But always cool off thinking of fully enjoying the th9 trip and don't miss a thing. Surely will miss it when I leave this TH, dont wanna regret.

Yes, we have an entire clan that is dedicated to hard-core farming. Reqs are minimum 200 attacks per season, TH9 and full skulls. Most of our clan are working on lavas or zaps and have heroes in the 20s or 30s. I've got BK going to 25 and AQ going to 28 as I type.

Or if you want a clan without so many requirements lol since its just a game, come over to our chill farming clan, with many people working on the same thing using a variety of farming techniques (barch, bam, masters).

My th9 has max defenses and Lego walls, and off the top of my head, I think the best an 8 has done against my base is around 35% and they don't even sniff the core. The only way an 8 takes dark from me is if he uses lightning or hits a drill that I may have forgotten to empty.

Maxing 9s is beneficial because as soon as you hit 10 and get infernos you are better than 99% of the town hall 10s in the game.

every month or so I join up with some fellow flashers in Valhalla, and there was a max 9 there (who finally went to 10 recently) that was easily 2 starring 10s with giants wiz, Valks, barch, and goblins. Those high level heroes do so much work, and a multi inferno at lvl 1 or 2 is basically like breathing on the heroes, especially the king.

If you max walls and heroes at 9 you are only worrying about upgrades and finishing heroes to 40, and don't have to even think about walls until all that stuff is done.

Oh really? I would like you try and attack my base mate. With all the talk of jumping ship to th10, I don't see you jumping to th9, with th8 being so weak that it's pathetic. Practise what you preach.

Haha I probably will feel the grind when I'm flat out farming lavas, but now it's all chill when I dump the day's loot into the walls.

I love these keyboard hero type comments.

As a defence maxed TH9 farming for lavas and heroes, the above statement makes almost no sense for the following reasons:

• 400K+ Gold and elixir from a maxed TH9 that is maxing heroes and walls?? Wouldn't this have been already been dumped into walls??
• 3k+ DE, maxed cap DE is 2.5K for TH9, which means the TH9 would have not collected for 2-3 hours assuming they had over 60K DE in the storage, and anyone that is TH9 or anyone that is farming DE would have their TH out, at 2200-2400 trophy range I find it very hard to believe that someone wouldn't have shielded that TH9 for 2-3 hours! Generally when I log off after a few seconds I am shielded in trophy range 2000+.

I'm not doing it. I'm currently a maxed TH 9 minus Valks ( going to 2 ) heroes, ( BK 12 AQ 10 ) & walls ( 120 lvl 7,105 lvl 8, & 25 lvl 10 ) I plan on getting all my walls to level 8, valks to 4, & heroes to 15. Then I'll contemplate either taking all my walls to Legos & heroes to 20, or going to TH 10. I'm absolutely not going all lava with lvl 30 heros though, just not doing it haha

I might try...until I have nothing else to build. Currently maxing my collectors and traps. Leaving my defenses alone for a bit. My troops maxed (valk3 going to 4), heroes halfway there...only 3.5 million DE and 800 million elixgold left...hahaha

rush or max still up to you,
and in reality, there will be always be someone that could 3 star you . or someone that could figure out your base weakness,,

why play the game for the sake of pleasing people that you dont like..

well it is really quite hard for an average farmer to finish th9 in max without taking too long..

my suggestion was get lego and heroes in high teens preferably in 20s..

de is much easier to get in th10.

New troop levels help a lot. Another xbow and infernos make a world of a difference. Dark elixir is easier in th10, so heroes will be easier, and those new defenses will help you defend that dark elixir. There is loot in masters 3 if you use balloons and minions, enough for 200k a raid. do it

I am not sure its even a debate, just a matter of personal preference. I jumped up to th 10 a little early from th 9, hasnt hurt me in the least bit. Farming took a little hit, but not much. I am of the opinion that waiting to go to th 10 is a waste of time and only prevents you from bettering yourself. I think that the upgrades you get from th 9 - 10 is the best of any townhall jump in the game. Infernos are priceless, a third xbow is phenomenal, and the maxed out troops is even better. I dont think anyone cay say waiting til maxing is the right way to go or the wrong way, its just a matter of preference. For me, I dont value walls very much, and focusing on maxing every defensive building, and than all my time will focus on walls. I have maybe 70 skull walls and rest are purple. Fact is, even a maxed th 9 can be 3 starred by a near maxed th 10, it isnt until your a th 10 with higher defenses that 3 stars on your base can be taken out of equation. If you know how to farm I say make the jump and dont hold yourself back, but if you struggle to farm at th 9, than waiting is prolly your best bet.
