THs ranging from 3 to 10 is not so uncommon. Many new clans have a few high players on top that startet the clan or are rl friends of the leader.
Also it is quite common to place some very low players at the bottom. Recruiting low players and kicking the bad ones is much safer then recruiting high level players that fight bad or leave during the war.
We have a wide range and get an opponent in about 30 minutes. Our feeder clan is closer together with the same average level and they dont find an opponent faster.
It was the wall update when Supercell changed the matchmaking algorithm. Since then search times increased from 10 minutes to 30 minutes for us and mismatches got far worse. The average level is now about 5 levels different in most wars, but we also have seen 10 levels. Before it was 1 or 2 levels. We only saw a 5 level mismatch once. Now it is really common after searching 3 times as long.
