Another ban story?

Greeting, clashers,

I used to be elder of a clan I'd rather not mention for particular reasons. For the past 20 days I was out on vacations and didn't clash at all.

During this time, some rules changed and they decided to promote older/loyal members to co, that includes me, despite my inactivity-ness. I wasn't aware of this until not long ago, but, so far, so good.

Problems arose when a couple within the clan broke up. The guy was some sort of sore loser and began filling the description with a bunch of disagreeable stuff.

Today, I logged in to find out I'm banned. Apparently, as a co, I'm liable for whatever is written on the description, despite being inactive for so long when I was promoted that my village got kicked from the matchmaking queue and wasn't even being attacked anymore.

I'm not gonna rage and say I'll quit playing. Not because of this, at least, since I wasn't clashing as much as I used to, anyway. But I am, indeed, extremely frustrated. And I feel really wronged.

I think there isn't much more I can do for now other than moving on, but I wanted to make sure this was well documented, because, in my views, this felt really negligent.

There's no way to make exceptions on individual basis'. This stuff can happen if the leader isn't careful about how he runs his clan and we can avoid situations like this by not being in those clans. Ban is only temp and it is a good system since like on a sporting team a clan is a group thing. You should be able to play in a day or so.

It really is unfortunate. The way this game works you have to be very diligent and basically avoid being in any clan that has any immature players. The punishment system basically strikes out against the entire clan so you have to look for any kind of inappropriate behavior and leave the clan as soon as it starts. Basically I would say not to be in any clan that has any members that like to curse or speak of off-color things in clan chat because those are the kinds of people likely to do more inappropriate things when they get upset.

Yep, there's about one post a week about all leads getting banned for something "the clan" did. So it's well documented.

Helpful hints:

- Don't be a co/lead if you're not willing to be responsible for anything/everthing at the clan level.

- You can demote yourself if you're a Co. and you don't want to be. It's fun and easy!

- If you keep getting re-promoted to Co in a clan and you don't want it, there is that awesome LEAVE button. Press it. It Works.

- Don't allow children (either in age or maturity) to be leaders.

- Do check regularly public things like the clan description, clean up as needed.

- Don't whine here if you're banned.

You can't demote your self unless you leave, and he can share his story as he want its about clash. I take it he published this thread for a chance to be unbanned. And it looks like yo didn't even read what he said. He was gone and inactive how could he "not be responsible?" He was gone.

Hey pal, I'll give that you didn't read my post as a whole. How was I to do what you mentioned in the situation I was in?

By the way, I get it that people complaining about some issue over and over can get old fast, but don't you think some things deserve attention?

To be fair, I'm not really expecting anything to be done about my case. I heard the tales about how terrible SC customer support is. I just feel like some things should be msde public. I don't know, maybe one day they can go and say "hey...our system is bad. Maybe we should change it." Unlikely, bordering impossible, I know. But a girl can dream, right?

The implication is supercelll as some magic crystal ball that they could use to know if a co was on vacation when the description changed.

At the end of the day, all co leaders and the leader are jointly responsible for the clan description. Someone must have seen it and no one changed it. Lesson to be learned? Dont promote random people to co.

Agreed, but with the situation he was in it had nothing to do with him. SC should i dont know fix stuff like this?

If you play so little you didn't even notice they made you co-lead than why does a ban matter anyway, I think it is maybe for 1 day...

I read your post. I totally understood it. As it was written it was unclear that you got banned DURING your 20 day break, after all it seems like you knew you were a co before you got banned. Are you saying otherwise? You were aware you were co, and started playing, and got banned after that? Or the first time you logged in you found you were a co, and were banned?

If I'm inactive for a long period, I leave my clan. I come back when I'm back. There is 0 advantage to take up space in a clan when you're just dead weight.

You chose not to. Your choice. Sucks that they made you co, and had a meltdown, and you got a 1 day ban because of it. You've been gone 20 days. 1 more isn't going to matter. Now that you know, you can act accordingly.

Congrats on making co. When you're co you're responsible.

You might want to look for a new clan, or ask to not be a co. Or leave and then join again to get the co off.

I used to play a lot, actually. Nearly maxed TH10. I have some hope in me people don't go to a beach resort to keep playing their mobile games, but, maybe, I'm an exception. Cheers!

I wasn't aware I was made co until I read my clan's facebook page, which I refrained to do while out as well. Yes, I know it's not a big deal. But it's unfair however you look at it. I'm for making unfair things fair, but that's just me.

I agree that her situation is a special event, but if they removed his ban, next week everyone in a clan with a bad description would be on vacation when it was changed. If I was her, I'd find a new clan with a leader and co leaders that would have taken action to keep this from happening, this sounds like she is getting the short end of the stick becuase her clan is poorly managed.

It's a 1 day ban. I read what he wrote.

Look, for all the demanding to be made co's I used to see from people before I joined an adult clan, there sure is very little understanding about what being in a leadership role in a clan means. It means you're responsible.

So yep, the ban hammer hits everyone with a leader label. That's how he's responsible.

Anyway, the ban should be for no more than 1 day. You have amazing timing, if you came back the 1 day you were banned.

Next time you go on vacation, just leave your clan. Come back when you're back. No suprises then, right?

I guess a rule is a rule....

I don't know if this is a good analogy. If I unknowingly bought stolen goods, I have committed a crime based on my country's law. Whether the law is right or wrong does not matter as we all know this is the law.

It is an unfortunate situation for OP but all clash players are bound to the same rule...

Basically, your reaction upon meeting someone who was clearly wronged is to go hostile and blame them for it. I can't hide I'm a little taken aback. May it be, will you ever find yourself facing an unjust situation, people won't judge you so harsh for things you simply couldn't have known.

Yeah but if it something like this happens again, then he will be banned forever. How unfortunate.

Supercell does not have any way to see which co changes the clan description, so they ban all co's as a measure.

How about we just ban kids from using the internet

I think a good way to prevent this is at the very least, is to notify the clan the description was changed.

I pay so little to the clan desription that I just know it says don't rush your th or something like that.

Also keep a log of who changed descriptions, and that way it benifits the clan and supercell can soley ban that person.

I'm sure a lot of people don't read the description.

Things would have been so much easier if your one-day ban had occurred yesterday or the day before, or any of the other 20 days you were out of the clan and surreptitiously made coleader. A cynical man would think this whole story is made up by someone trying to find an argument against the practice of banning cos for flagrant violations in the clan description. But I can tell that it must be true, otherwise you wouldn't have made a new forum account today, on your first day back from a 20-day vacation, to tell us about it. Good thing the punishment is so minor. Just consider it like you took a 21-day vacation and start playing again tomorrow. Cheers! :D
