with 6 my buildings would be done now, for a good farmer ther's never enough !

if I had it to do over.... I would have stuck to four.... I rarely have anything for the fourth and fifth builder to do...

It depends how active you are. An active farmer can keep 5 builders busy no problem.

I would like to have more than 5 builders for the sake of progressing my village faster. The problem is, research already takes longer than build time. I wouldn't want to fall behind on research again.

It's happened to me before. It sucks having a high level base with low level troops. That's what got me to gem some research time.

I can't imagine having less than 5 builders. Unless you play very casually, how can you not have full storages with only 3-4 builders? Also, having an extra builder free, even if you are casual, would be nice for wall upgrades. Anyone who is serious about playing this game, should have 5 builders, no question. It's soooooo cheap to get them, why would you not invest a few bucks in a game many people play for hours a day?

I have 5. 5 is exactly 25% faster than 4, if you can keep them all going.

Your question has no correct answer. If you can't keep all your builders busy, you have too many builders for your playing style. If you are constantly waiting for a builder, you need more builders for your playing style. If your have 5 builders and you are constantly waiting for one to free up, you need a life.

Based on your post, you don't play as much as you used to, or you simply got more builders than you need. IMHO at TH8 and lower, 5 builders are easy to keep going with no more than 2 hours of barching a day, and as soon as you can get 5 get em as you will sail through maxing each level.

At TH9 it's still fairly easy to keep 5 going, but the upgrades are more expensive and take forever, so it's possible with unfortunate timing to go half a week with nothing to do, since everyone is busy, and then two days of insane boosted farming to get them enough resource to go back to work for a week.

At TH10 you are a beast if you can keep 5 busy.
