Logic of trapping your town hall

This one escapes me, and from the people I talk to in my clan, it's a bad idea to trap your town hall.

For those who don't know, trapping your town hall is when you make it look like your TH is outside the base, looking to get sniped. But when the snipers come along, there are giant bombs or teslas ready to take them out.

I don't understand this logic. To me, there are two options for your town hall, either protect it as well as you can or put it outside the base to be sniped and get an easy/free shield. What ends up happening is the base ends up losing a lot more resources than they would have with the simple snipe. Everyone I talk to says this turns into an all out attack, sometimes even nastier. So I'm not sure what the point of trapping the base was. Leave it heavily protected somewhere or leave it out and take the snipe. You might think that trapping gets you some cheap wins, but it doesn't. It means you lose more resources than if you leave the TH untrapped.

Just my 2 cents.

Agree it is rather silly and annoying. I suppose once in a long while you can get someone who next with less than a full army looking for a snipe and get him, but no full army, not even a TH7 barch, is gonna lose to 4 teslas.

The silliest are the TH10s who put both infernos at one end of the base covering TH inviting the snipe attempt, while you take their loot and the 50% by attacking the rest of the base.

trappers primarily targets those low lvl THsnipers

it's a still a ource of trophies for lower leagues :/

Heh, yeah. Let's be honest. The value of a town hall is less than the value of DE, elixir and gold. So it seems funny to move a TH out and move infernos away from the things that are actually more valuable.

Damn I hate those traps

When a tesla pops out, I usually either try to take the loot, or leave without giving a shield.

Now that my defenses and troops are maxed at th9 I don't save for anything worth raiding. My cash goes into walls.

I trap my th with 4 teslas and it's hilarious watching people dump their entire army and spells. Knowing they are cussing and throwing stuff instead of losing a few trophies makes me tingle.

Yeah I hate trappers too... But a clan mate of mine trapper her base once and shared the hilarious replays of 0% raids using their entire army. She won something like 60+ defenses that season

Trappers usually can post cute replays to their clan to get a giggle.

There are two types of trappers:

1. Noobs. They usualy have low level teslas and they try desperately to win some trophies

2. High level players. When you have an almost maxed th10 the firepower of teslas, if you are farming in low leagues, in not so fundamental. You usually face barch or giants+barch and infernos/wizards are enough to annihilate these strategies. In this case, you can put teslas near the town hall to force you opponent to waste troops. Yes and you will laugh a lot more...and it has been proved that laugh is good for your health :)

Ok, I can see the first one. If there was a TH10 in the 1000 trophy range trapping, that'd get wins and giggles but meh. As for the noobs, I can't imagine it works well when a higher player rolls along. I just try to take as much as I can and leave them below 40%. I'm ok with the loss.

For a th10 low league is crystal...anyway...there are't smart players in this game...many of them will rage and waste half army against 4 maxed teslas...then they have half army for the rest of the base and infernos...

I have never trapped my th but I understand the logic...I don't know if you have ever played rts games...trapping th is like cheese...a simple way to keep your opponent unprepared and have some fun

TH trappers... not a fan of them. Usually I just do this... if I find a base that has good DE to zap AND town hall on the outside, I'll go for it. I always zap the DE first, and then go for the TH. If even one single trap or tesla appears, I'll try to trigger other traps and leave. He gets no shield, loses ~1,5k DE and some gold if he had traps waiting for me (I'll trigger every single one I can). All that for a few trophies...

Ppl trap the way described on top end bases to limit the amount of stars possible. With the combined chance of catching attackers offguard. Making ppl commit heavily for just a star can save a lot of loot from being given up.

I hang just below crystal for the noobs trying to get the gems. Instead of eating the trophies and move on with army and spells intact pride takes over. Goodness it's funny. The best part is knowing they will log off while the army rebuilds and they will get hammered for more trophies than they got from my th.

No I would say there are 3 type's

1. The Troll - trap's it for a laugh.
2. The Dwindle r - Trap's the town hall hoping you use all your troops for the trophies and have none left for loot.
3. The Defender - Trap's it to gain defensive win's trying to get the unbreakable achievement.

That is revenge :) Me I only do revenge like you said and the way you do when those sniper of my TH never content with the (master)bonus league and still put their army against me because I never trap my TH. After revenge I'll say to them you should now learned not to do that hehe.
Also on the topic, many times I encountered trapped TH some of them I quit giving them a shield because I'm just using queen to snipe. (never mind the trophy I could easily get them back).

Trappers are a big reason why the economy is bad, forcing players to waste copies amounts of troops/spells just for a league bonus, while wasting money on traps themselves. :rolleyes:

It may work Higher up if you make people use more troops on the th to prevent 50%

I used to trap, the only reason i stopped is that it got too expensive.

It definitely got me trophies, still would im sure. I have people over 20 levels behind me snipe my TH without a full army regularly.

I don't understand why some people will get 39% and leave if they find a trapped th. Sure you may kill the cc troops and set off some traps, but you are still giving the person trophies and just leaving it for the next person to hit it. Even if the next person gets 100% the defenders trophies will be about the same, with a little loot that is easy to gain back raiding.
