Upgrading heroes during war.

Greetings fellow Clashers! I was wondering what everybody's thoughts were on upgrading heroes during war. As it stands right now the heroes are always active in the defending war base but you can't use them in war attack while upgrading them. This poses a problem for higher town halls as hero participation is crucial. I do understand that it generates a lot of revenue for supercell tho, and it takes money to keep delivering a high quality product like CoC! Would you like to see a change where you can use the hero during a war attack even if they are upgrading?

It generates revenue for SC. It wont happen.
Itll cause a drop in money. Thats NOT what they want.

I'm a TH9 farming Heros and lava walls. I quit wars in my clan until TH10 for this exact reason.

I only want to spend gems on boosting barracks....not on hero upgrade times.

This is the #1 thing on my wishlist for the new update! That being said I feel they make A LOT of money by not allowing us to use them while being upgraded. I know i'm even guilty of gemming my heroes for a day or two so I could use them..

I say no.

thats a horrible way to look at it. spell factory is upgraded once every 4-5 months at th8-10? heroes are sometimes upgraded every week at least

Learn to raid without them..

you can use any other troop while they're upgrading, why not hero's?

I have had both hero's upgrading at the same time for the past 5 levels, and I can't really do much in war. I don't mind not having them on farming raids, but I definitely need them in war

Yeah, but that really isn't that bad. You only upgrade that so many times. Your heros (if you're raiding well) can be upgraded all the time.

That said, I think it's fine the way it is. If your main guys are upgrading their heros then communicate and don't start a war.

Nope. Either you juggle the upgrades, war without em, or skip wars while they are upgrading.

Well said.

And I only mentioned the spell factory because people will always find the next thing to complain about to make there gameplay experience easier for them.

You can also join a clan that wars once a week and plan your hero upgrades around that schedule.

Fair enough, but the downfall is for the people that play enough and gain enough DE to be upgrading them constantly get the shaft. Not being able to use them just hurts the more hardcore players. Thing is supercell knows this too. They know the serious players will spend money on the game so why let them use for wars when that person might gem the remaining time?

The only logical reason to not do it is SC likes money..

a) Yes! We should be able to use upgrading heroes for war attacks only.

That's my vote, players will still gem for heroes under normal conditions. Farming & trophy pushing is significantly easier when two heroes are available.

But this will make clan war matchmaking fair.

LOL. What a ridiculous comparison.

Spell Factory net upgrade time = 18 days
BK net upgrade time = 227.5 days
AQ net upgrade time = 227.5 days

That is just far too long given how matchmaking works. I flat out refuse to do Clan Wars because of this. It's the most blatant money grab in the game. As much as I love you SuperCell; I'm not getting sucked in by this one.

That's how my clan is set up- once a week.
I have to immediately put my hero down after my second attack since I am at the 7 day upgrade period.

That's a good point, maxing a hero take forever while SF it's just one time per TH, that's why no one complain about SF

Also you can use your camps and CC while upgrading, why not use heros?

They don't get the shaft at all. What they get is level 40 heroes years before the people that refuse to upgrade their heroes except once in a blue moon. And honestly, I think truly hardcore players wouldn't even know what it is like to play with heroes. A truly hardcore player has enough DE to keep their heroes constantly asleep and has learned how to play the game with the crutch of heroes.

Just a few days ago I found myself without enough DE to continue upgrading my AQ (because I hadn't been playing as much). So for two days I got to raid with my queen. It was awesome, and very addictive, so I knew what I had to do. The moment I got enough DE and a free builder I put her back to sleep where I will once again try to keep her. The mere fact that she is so addictive to play with lets me know that I need to keep her asleep before I become one of the people like you see on the forums that doesn't appear to know how to raid without their heroes.

Heroes are nice, but they are not necessary. Unless you are really slow getting your walls at town hall 9 you really shouldn't even know what it is like to play with the AQ because she should be asleep all the way to level 40. And it is pretty easy to overcome the addiction to the BK since you would have last played with him when he was only level 10 at the end of TH8 and he wasn't great enough to become much of a crutch.

The key thing to remember is that heroes take 9 months to build. It is the people that think they can play with their heroes before the 9 months of build time that have a problem. If your hero isn't capped for your town hall level, it shouldn't be awake. If it is awake, that is the game's way of letting you know that you are not farming DE fast enough and so it let's you use the hero temporarily to aid in getting the DE you need to put it to sleep.

Yep, I understand that. For about 2-3 months I very much used that mentality at TH9. Two heroes upgrading at a time, if I ever did have a gap of having a hero for 1 day it was to help me start the next upgrade faster.

Too hardcore for me though, after doing that for a while I just wasn't enjoying the game as much.

Now I'm content with just doing 1 hero at a time; easier to manage and I enjoy the game more and have time for other more important things.

I had to remind myself to just enjoy the game, it's not a race - but a marathon.

Both methods still handicap you in Clan Wars due to matchmaking. Stronger your heroes are, the more the system screws you for upgrading a hero.

If they can't let us use in CW only, i prefer if they change to use for everything defense/attack/cw

Not true in my case. Since we all have full time jobs- we like to end the week with war.

And I also prefer that it doesnt cost anything for me to boost stuff and every cup offer is 30+ and everyone always offers full loot with at least half full mines/collectors.

i'm not asking for insta-upgrade, but a hero usable in a upgrade like a CC or camp

I feel like you just proved the point I was making...Whats the point in having the king/queen if you are never able to use them? I understand how to raid without them, but attacking in wars with them is most definitely a disadvantage when you get paired with another clan that has similar level heroes but able to use them.

I don't have any statistics so my opinion is just that, but I feel like SC probably sees a lot of gems going into cutting these upgrading times. If true, I don't see SC making this change unfortunately : / This makes my opinion a bit biased but I, a player who has never purchased gems, have easily spent 90% of my total gem spending on finishing hero upgrades for war attacks. I would love being able to use heroes for CW while they are upgrading, but I don't see it happening. Wouldn't mind being proven wrong by SC though ; )

I'm totally in favor of allowing them to be used in wars while upgrading. I am fine with not allowing them to be used in regular attacks, that's the price you pay for the upgrade. But by not allowing them in wars it not only hurts the user but hurts the whole clan. If your going to allow them to defend, allow them to attack. In high level battles they are integral unless you are going to an air only attack.

I have no doubt a lot of gems get put into hero upgrade time.

But that is not just because of Clan Wars.

Many high range trophy pushers can't afford to have them sleep so gem time, and hardcore DE farmers to not want to be restricted by a full DE storage, so gem time to continue looting DE.

I dont think that many Players gem hero Upgrade time. May you use some gems, if there are only a few hours left and it is cw, but nobody gems 5 days every Level on both heroes.
On the other Hand Supercell looses masses of gems for boosting, if Players dont farm while their heroes are upgrading.

I think the whole idea of having the heroes unavailable during upgrade was wrong from the start, not only because of clan wars. This is a troop upgrade. You dont loose all your giants for 10 days if you upgrade them to lvl6, so why do this for a unit that is upgraded far more often.
The idea of the 1 week upgrade them and using a builder is good. Heroes should not block the lab and should take a while to upgrade, but they should be available for offense. Maybe just disable them on defense like any other buildings.

It just doesn't make any sense. If heroes are upgrading, why can they defend during war, but you can't attack with them? In regular farming they neither defend nor attack so I don't get it.

All buildings that are upgrading work as normal when defending during war. Your heroes are awake and defending your war base for the same reason that your mortar is up and running during the war even though it still has 5 days left of build time.

Agreed. I don't think it will happen though as it is probably a good source of revenue for supercell. I will feed that soon and buy enough gems to never have a hero sleeping. Just a luxury I can afford fortunately.

It would be great but didn't Anoushka recently say that it was technically problematic to implement?

I think there is not a a single person who doesn't want his/her heroes available for war while upgrading.

People spend gems on boosting, and its not like SC is in dire need for money. They make a lot of profit. I doubt hero's are a big revenue builder, Idk anybody that gems 5 days of hero build times For me that would be 2 times a week many weeks.

I agree! Heroes are upgraded constantly and make a massive difference in war. It would be brilliant and make the whole ordeal of upgrading so much less frustrating if we could still use them in war whilst they are upgrading.

Anoushka has already given a response to this a while ago, not going to bother digging it up but basically its too technically complex to implement so it is almost certain that they wont allow them available for war when upgrading. Just gem your heroes to max and you never have to worry about it again :)

Forget angry Neeson and hire some decent programmers.
This shouldn't even be a question. I see a lot of donkeys talking about learning to play without your heroes but at the end of the day in clan wars im weighted as having x level king and I expect to be able to use x level king during my clan wars attack.
Don't care about farming but Clan wars is a team sport, and your expected to carry your weight...every time u barely fail to take out your opponent because u are trying to upgrade your king you let your team down and get one step closer to taking yourself out of the clan for every upgrade. But then u think about the almost two years to fully upgrade and realize that clan wars is the only thing that keeps u tuning in every day and if your gone for that long then this game is just going to go the way of all the other crappy apps you ignore for a year and then delete.
Supercell...you are not making more money. You are going to lose a lot of team orientated players to this. Stop being donkeys...and fix it.

This thread doesn't need any more posts but I had to show my support for this argument. I can't really take Supercell's statement seriously; they have the capability. They're either making excuses to continue pulling in money or just haven't put the time in to change things.
