TH 9 question

We war only a few times a month.

My lab takes priority over everything else. It runs all the time upgrading troops

I upgraded wizard towers first to "scare off" some attackers

I am going to upgrade 1 x bow and 1 air defense at a time.

Once 1 have 2 air defenses upgraded, I will switch over to teslas.

2 other builders will work on de drills,collectors and dark barracks

The 5th builder will float walls and heros

These are just my observations, so don't take these as holy bible, but I'm fairly confident in my assessment. Some things to help you 2 star TH9s before you get your golems up to snuff:

If your Balloons are close to level 6, get them to 6. With lv6 loons + lv3 minions (I neglected them for a long time), I was able to 2 star a lot of war opponents. The key here is to know you're not getting the 3 star going in, and then you can plan differently. Essentially all you're trying to do is clear a path to the TH, rage some minions at the TH (getting 1 star), and then use heroes to clean up and get the 50%. This gives you a fairly easy path to 2 starring well into TH9 development, with only one troop upgrade to do.

Once you have Loonion upgraded, you can start to work on your GoWi-X variants. The key here is to know that your golem is actually the least effective portion of your GoWi variant upgrades. Meaning, if you want to GoWiWi, you're better off uprading your Witches first. If you want to GoWiPe, you're better off upgrading your Pekkas (if you're like me, and skipped them in TH8). So, work on golems last. You can also make the GoWi variants work if you have someone in your clan with level 4 or level 5 golems (the difference between lv4 and lv5 is only 300 hp - less than 5%). Then you bring 2 level 1 golems, plus 1 level 4 or 5 golem, and make the attack work that way.

Once you have max'd war troops, you'll be able to 2 star any TH9, and 3 star some. 3 stars on TH9s are hard, though, if they're well upgraded.

Pretty much any structure you update/max will bump you up (including collectors). Heroes I'm not sure, but they do have a factor though not quite as high as other structures in terms of placement.

So if your offensive troops/research are lacking, holding back defensive upgrades to work on something like walls isn't a bad idea I guess.

But if you maxed TH8's lab and have upgraded your CC, you should pretty much be able to 2 nearly any 9 anyway with Wipe so it really shouldn't be that much of an issue.

When I was a 9, I just upgraded as I saw fit and didn't really care where it placed me on the war ladder as I could 2 pretty much any 9 regardless. Even opponents with lavas weren't really a big deal as you do have access to jump spells and air attacks.

Pretty sure they are. I've been in countless wars where a guy with low lvl collectors/barracks were way further down on the war ladder (who had higher walls, heroes and pretty much max defenses)...then say a guy 6 above him.

I also know that when I was a TH9, I became the top 9 after maxing all my collectors to 12 (I was also max defensive, of course).

Again, I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure any structure you upgrade will push you higher. But I've also seen some crazy war ranking systems that don't make any sense so who knows.

Base buildings do count in war. So if someone is having high lvl storages, he's certainly having enemies to take more time to destroy them. This goes for the reason why some people with high lvl storages can go up with those with low lvl storages.
In case of elixir collectors, i aint sure. But maybe again,hit points may count.

Our troop levels are very close. My wall breakers are 5 and Pekas and minions are 3.
My balloons will be 6 in 4 days then I'm doing witches to 2 for wars

Sounds like we are very similar all the war around including base and def structures as well... I have considered going to TH10 once my pekkas are done upgrading and my elixir pumps and de storage is maxed and just doing DE upgrades as a TH10. I have heard it is much easier to farm DE and upgrade those troops as a TH10, and just not upgrading my defenses to TH10 level until my troops are leveled off (for warring purposes).

I farm in Crystal 2 hours a day with boosted barracks.

I end up with quite a bit of DE.

Last night was good for 20,000.

My queen is going to 8 and king is a 10

I'm sitting on 80,000 or so

Lab finishes in a few days I'll drop 75,000 on witch upgrades.

I like th9 compared to 8. I'll be here a while
