There's something about Valkyrie

Can I begin by saying I really like the concept of the Valkryie, she is like an upwardly mobile giant! But what is it about her that puts so many of us off? I realise this has probably been discussed before but I would like to ask the community....

Which is the best way to use her if you do?

Can she be used for farming?

What puts you off about her if you don't use her?

Do you think the cost and time should be reduced further?

What have your raiding experiences been like with the Valkyrie?

Personally I think she gets ahead of herself a bit, my raiding with the Valkyrie has been that she will race ahead of any meat shield and get diverted by walls. I was thinking maybe using jump and heal spells but is this a viable way to farm? Valks with spells required everytime, and spending lots of de? Is she an end game troop when you don't need resources?

I, like so many others have not upgraded the Valk in preference to other troops, to all you would be valkers, what's the best way to use a Valk?

Thanks for reading, TLDR I want to use the valk for consistent raiding but don't see how she is viable, need the communities experiences for help.

i found that even max valk from th8 didn't quite cut it throught the base i raided while at end stage of th8... now that i'm th9, and still lvl2 (priority on farming and war troops) they don't cut it at all against the base i raid... so i'll have to wait til they get better... (they are my next research tho...

but i found out that (at th8) with lvl2.. they could help with the cost of barching (which is still not so a biggie) and speed a little the army cooking times.. (but still minions are better cheap and faster regarding housing/cooking times)

but they did add a great power to my barch.. that was the one thing i found for farming (but it cost too much de for.. not that much reward)

and then there is that combo with my war army (2golem, 2pekka, 2 witch, 2valk, 2giants, rest wiz and wb)

but then, the lvl2 doesn't cut it with the base i attack.. so i'll have to see once they reach lvl4 (will still try them with their lvl3 in 2 weeks)

I have L4 Valks but barely used them in wars.. I usually make 4 of them and throw them in the Barch composition when i farm/push, to add some DPS, but overall, i honestly wasn't that happy to spend my time and effort to get them maxed out... Could have used my DE to upgrade my Queen to L25 :(

The cost is ok, the only thing i would reduce is the training time, from 8 to 6 min.

Housing space is good enough

I usually use 2 golems, 14 valks, 13 wiz and 8 wallbreakers...then take another golem, 1 wiz and 1 barb in my CC (35 housing cc)...never used them for farming but I use them a lot in CW and this is my ONLY army that I use for trophy pushing...managed to reach 4040 trophies by using them

I love valks too! I started using valks in war at the end of TH8 and I plan on pushing with them. I don't think the cost should be reduced. My raiding experiences with her have been great! I don't have to worry about luring the cc troops first, she is a great tank for wiz and witches, and I usually 3 star. My comp at 200 camp space was 2 golems, 10 valks, 8 wbs, rest wiz and I would take all wiz in cc. Spells: 3 heals. My comp at 220 space is the same but I add an extra valk or wiz and take 1 rage spell with 3 heals if the walls are higher level.

I don't use her in farming, she really needs certain base layouts to perform effectively. I've use her in war in GoViz comps, pretty reliable 2 star. Potential for 3 is there, but well placed spring traps can really ruin an otherwise good attack using valks.

Which is the best way to use her if you do?

I find the best use is along with jump. Clear a path to the core an blitz it. Heal is also excellent with her

Can she be used for farming?
Yes, but pricy on DE

What puts you off about her if you don't use her?

N/A

Time no, cost probally. At least the jump in cost per level

What have your raiding experiences been like with the Valkyrie?

Been to champs twice. Use her in almost every war. I think she kicks butt :)



Try the Valkyrie tornado to storage farm. Fun combo

Some great advice on the replies, thankyou for sharing. Seems like some people have had great success in war and trophy pushing with the Valkyrie and some have experimented on the farming aspect.

The Valkyrie tornado sounds interesting, I will try and find out more about it, I will def upgrade her eventually and mixing her with barch might help me to get used to her AI a bit better so I will try that too.

Funny thing to do wih valks. Put a level3+ valk in a little clashers cc and laugh at the replays. She runs out does a 3/4 spit and there's nothing except headstones left at her feet.

On a serious note last week the clan leader and I were attacked by gowiwi with 6 valks. Our leader has upgraded valks so she stole his Attack and did two 3 star attacks with it. She had to use 20 spaces less, I think she used 4 valks and one less wizard

LVL 4 Valks do major damage to a TH10 with upgraded infernos, I use a similar comp when attacking

1 golem lvl 4 in cc
16 valks 13 wiz 10 wally 20 archers 2 rage 2 jump

easily get to TH and get 60-80% of base. with 1100ish hp...the can take the damage.

just like a pekka tho....they like to wander...jump spells a must to direct them.

I did this tell I saw a Valk chase a group of giants across the map. It kept stopping winding up whiffing at air. Archers killed the valk drawing the archers deeper into the base making matters worse. I noticed this a few times stopped using them on the lower THs. At TH7 to TH8 its mostly air attacks. TH9 and up it doesnt have enough DPS to do anything to the lead tanks and will get caught behind them like I mentioned above. Personally I dont think theyre very good. To fast so they end up over extending, slow attack wind up is wasted DPS, traps, CoC AI for troop that does point AOE damage. Most people I see doing well with them could be doing just as well or better with similar troops.

Yeah I am upgrading them last so I do mostly agree but I am afraid I haven't used them enough to know. I will get them upgraded eventually :)

Bases with compact cores are the best from my experience. Spread out bases really reduce the effectiveness since her attack is slow. She really shines when she gets in the middle of a cluster of buildings and hits all of them with one swing.

i forgot to mention that I did watch these 3 videos, well executed attacks and thanks for sharing. I did notice however that they did seem to rush ahead like I mentioned earlier.

Do you think a hit point boost would make them overpowered? It would be nice if they were the front line instead of golems or giants, someone mentioned spring traps being a potential pitfall for the Valks so would a health buff on all levels be that bad?

I would take a health buff over a price change tbh.

I just did and find nothing out of the norm with your attacks. You got two stars and three stars. You blew way to much resources and got little in return. You could of just used other troops to two star or three star bad bases. I'm not trying to sound like a jerk but its the truth. Watching all these valk videos there is a theme here.

It's not that they're bad... but other things cook faster & cheaper and work too.

One thing I do love valks in is as clan castle defenders. They can really mess up attacks if you're fighting ground pounders.

of course I wasn't farming...it was a trophy push I was doing...those were attacks in champion league...so the returns you speak of wasn't really important to me...I was interchanging between gowiva when my elixirs were low and when DE running short switched to gowipe to save on DE to regenerate DE spent...

I 2 starred a fully maxed out base in those replays too tho...full zap walls, maxed defenses, dual lvl 40 heroes and cc troops...why not commend that? I know a lot of people cant gowipe that particular base design and get 2 stars ...smh

I like how powerful they are, but I don't like how they (a) get thrown by spring traps and (b) attack really slowly. I do like how fast they move, but they take so long to get set to take their swing that they are often left open for defenses to eat up.

They rock but are sadly under used. I don't use them as much due to cost and train time... there is a better value with other troops.

spring traps can only throw a total of 15 troop spaces if I remember correctly...therefore if u use all your valks and they run into a spring only one of them will be thrown away...only way multiple valks can be thrown away and your attack be ruined is if the defender has all 6 of their springs positioned in the same area that you wish to attack from which is very unlikely....more so, the golems and wbs will already have exhausted most of them

Oh ok, I wasn't aware that springs can only throw 15 troop spaces. I've only used valks in gowiva once that I remember, and I think they circled. Maybe I'll try them again

I just unlocked valks yesterday and I anticipated this moment for weeks. I think they are pretty effective to adding power to a barch or bam army, but I'm still trying to see any use in them. They outrun the tanks and when they get to the core they wipe out a few buildings and die. Even getting them there is a mission.

I guess they do what they're supposed to by gutting the core then they just die. They take half the time to train than wizards, but over twice the time than giants and hog riders. The cost and training time should be reduced or increase their hp and attack speed. They really can't live up to their concept as they are. It's like trying to use low level balloons. Just too gimmicky.
