I don't get why people are having such trouble understanding the Letters it makes perfect sense and is actually easier to give you a logical answer. My guess would be the loons attacked the AD at the points or in between the points ive put in brackets! So the tiles between the Cannon (A) and cannon (C) are actually closer than than the Air defense!Quote:

Balloons that were settled perfectly over the top of the first target have a 50/50 shot to go either way really. Depending how you deployed balloons though, some should have moved to the other target too.
The semi-random nature of target selection is half the fun :rolleyes:.

We've specifically laughed at it multiple times during clan wars in the replays. The wind theory is a better explanation :p
This game has a weird concept of distance. Sometimes stuff that's clearly looks closer is actually not as close as it looks.
One case of weirdness is that distance to target is measured before path finding. So the AI may target something that looks closer when the target is picked, but it is actually further away once the route to get to it is considered.
Additionally, distances are not perfectly symetrical. Turret ranges are shown as elipses not circles, meaning distances in the vertical direction are more compressed compared to distances horizontally.
Another instance of this asymetry happens when a mortar is next to a wall on the outside of a base (ie. noob base). If the wall is facing souteast or southwest then it is possible to drop archers without getting attacked by the mortar, but this is not possible if the wall is facing norteast or northwest.
I had one in a war attack the other day that was totally baffling:
AAABBBCCC
AAABBBCCC
AAABBBCCC
A is archer tower, B is air defense, C is cannon. I dropped 4 hogs to try to get the air defense; mis-placed them so they went for the archer tower instead. Fine. But after taking out the archer tower, 3 of the 4 ran ACROSS the air defense to attack the cannon, while 1 attacked the air defense. As a result, neither defense died.
