Hi clashers my archer to lvl 7 will be done in 2 days and a few hours and was wondering if i should max barbarians or do giants lvl 6? When i was th9 I barched alot but jumped too early to th10 wich force me to storage raid at sub 200 cups I dont really know how to use giants but i'm learning slowly .Using barch its hard to penetrate in to th9s bases but with giants i could reach 2-3 storages. Ty in advance!
Easily giants in this one. They get a massive buff. You'll notice a bigger difference with them 5->6 than barbs 6->7.

Archers and barbarians didn't get much of a big increase in power/speed/whatever when they were released to level 7. Not worth it. Definitely giants. Plus, you get a black fur cape thing. Why not?!
A...giants! They really help tank dps while you steel all the DE!

If you're a pure barcher, never use giants and don't plan to use never, go for Barbarians (a great upgrade), but the jump from LV5 to LV6 in giants is awesome and is a must on TH9
Thechnically i'm pure barcher haven't used giants since about when CW started from there I used barch and used it for pure farming and my second trophies/loot strategy was loonian and my war strategy dragloonian and later gowipe... so its been a LONG time since i dident use them and i still dont like using them I'm hoping i can learn my way around storage raiding with barch that would be perfect... is it possible? If i can't learn it /impossible im gonna learn the high art of using giants with barch.Quote:

I'm shocked that everyone is saying giants. For farming, I think they just add an expense that you don't need. Spell-less giant based attacks can basically attack the exact same bases as spell-less barch. If you start using spells with giants, you should really try using spells with Barch or Bam. They're about equally as effective, except your base cost is much lower, which is just money in your pocket.
For reference, your costs per housing space:
Barb: 150
Archer: 300
Giant: 3000 / 5 = 600.
At best case, you're spending double per housing space, if you replaced archers with giants. In actuality, you're replacing barbs with giants, in which case you're paying quadruple.
HP per housing space:
Barb: 110
Giant: 188
Barbs are more susceptible to splash damage. Giants are more susceptible to spring traps.
For war, at TH9 or TH10, any ground based attack will be better off bringing Golems for meat, or literally almost anything else for DPS. They're also worthless (obviously) for air attacks.
Sure, lv6 Giants can beat up TH8s. Sure, they can 3 star TH8s easier than barch can. But I don't need to 3 star TH8s to get their resources. Barch and Bam are plenty capable of 2 starring TH8s (even well developed ones), and that's all you ever really need to do while farming.
Yea, I agree.. However, the jump from giants lvl 5 to lvl 6 is huge. And he probably never used giants before bc they weren't viable options, but at lvl 6 they are tanks! And carrying giants gives you more options as to which bases u can attack, also lets you get to those DE storages deep in the core, especially if you're working on heroes and DE troops.... If you're just farming gold and elix then yea, barch or BAM is a better way to go. But you should definitely consider Giants...
I don't think this is completely true. Golems are generally superior, but mixing some giants into a golem-led attack can be useful:Quote:

Before you max golems, mixing a high level golem in cc with giants of your own is quite practical.
The beauty of the game is you have choices. I believe your best decision is based on what troop you use the most. If you build barch armies, then do barbarians. If you use more giants in your attacks, then upgrade giants.
