Maybe it's for my convenience, but I really wish drills could be bought and upgraded with either gold or elixir. It's just a different kind of elixir anyway. Why shouldn't gold be used just like regular elixir?

If gold can be used as if it were elixir, then what is the point of having two different resources?
Crys has a point... Supercell used to start it... Walls for example... But didn't that majorly disrupt the ecomnomy of clash?
I have actually thought about this as well? Why does the de drill cost elixir to upgrade? I mean, elixir stuff costs gold to upgrade? It seems like a random choice. It doesn't really matter to me one way or the other, I just farm elixir when I wanna upgrade a drill...
But it is a random decision that de collectors take elixir to upgrade. Look at it this way, we have 17 collectors and 10 of them upgrade with elixir and 7 with gold...Its just kinda weird, not needing a fix, but weird.
Some say there is too many things to upgrade with gold and not enough with elixir; so why would you want to imbalance that even more?
Because I rush and in S1 all I see is gold. I don't think mid town hall levels suffer so much from the gold bottle neck as much as town hall 9s and 10s at least that's what I hear.
For me if it was interchangeable, I could max my drill faster which would help me max my offense faster and farm even better.
I'm not saying make everything interchangeable. Just wondering why it is the way it is.
For most things, gold is for defence and elixir is for attack. It's probably a historical quirk that says that gold upgrades elix collectors and elix upgrades mines, not exactly logical. Dark is a higher form of elixir, so I guess there must be some strict logic that means it must be that way as determined recently by physicists at Cern. Don't question physicists.
