Mano a Mano Illustris v 2200 Trophy Players

So, here's food for thought.

I've been generally farming at 2150-2250 since these lovely badges came out (cough). And I leave my TH outside, completely unprotected for any Trophy chaser to get a free gift.

But, I keep getting hit by people trying for more than the free gift. And, the saddening thing is... their attack strategies are really, really poor in comparison to farmers in the 1300-1500 trophy.

See below:

1. Top raid, 105 barbs, 130 archers and 3 giants for 4-5k total loot. One would think he could have just used 3 archers for trophy and stopped there (similar to the second raid).

2. Second raid... OK, this makes sense. (clap, clap)

3. Third raid: 200 archers and 1 Thor... for 15k or so. Really?

At 2600 Trophy the other week, I was getting hit by the ever famous GoWiPe strategy with four rage spells used per raid, and often, they attacked from the opposite side of my UNPROTECTED TH! I was very happy that some got to the 1 star 50% dmg, but geez, they could have gotten 2 stars, if they hit from the unprotected TH side... sigh.

Well, I guess 2200 is where bad trophy hunters go? The are too high to be farmers, but too low to be crack trophy hunters.

Though, those are only two attacks, and they aren't particularly strong armies. It's not really hard evidence that the players there are incompetent (not that I would know, my highest trophy has only ever been 1800).


And, "Mano a Mano" is one of those dirty "foreign" things, so I'm no expert, but I do not think it means what you think it means.

The first and third attackers were likely trying to copy the archer barb trophy hunting combo, and the all archer combo. Both of which are not all too popular, and are on;y successfully used by a handful of players above 3000 trophies. In both of these strategies the attacker aims for 50%. I found that at 2000-2300 you would find lots of nooby players attempting to use this strategy, as you have discovered.

But why aim for 50% when he could have just takin the free TH and went looking for an easier base with more outside buildings to get him to 50% faster that would of been more effective IMO

Because they get a little caught up in themselves for making it that far and think they can do more than they can.

Ah, yes, let's see in response to the various comments:

1) Sadly, these sort of attacks happen way, way more than just the two in this screen shot. I just logged in and saw it yet again, so decided to post. Hmm, maybe 2-4 a day of these sort of silly attacks? Err, take my word for it.

2) And, no, this mentality does not stop at 2200, as I said before, it continues to 2600 where people burn 4 rage spells and golems, pekkas, etc... (translated a lot of DE and elixir) and miss the external, unprotected TH. It's almost as if many trophy chasers have "blinders" on and just assume the TH is centrally placed. Or, it's worse... As I said in the OP:

Illustris the Reminder

I've had a few guys spend 2 minutes trying to take down my exposed town hall with a couple of archers, then decide they want to go full ♥♥♥♥♥♥ with a minute or less to spare and walk away with next to nothing and a bruised ego. It depends on the player though. If the player isn't the sharpest cupcake they may not even study your base properly in the first 30 seconds and not realise your TH is exposed on the other side at any trophy level.

Funny--I recently took my mid level TH 8 farming village up from its normal range of 1400ish to 1900ish. When I was ready to come back down, I took my TH back out and the hilarity ensued. Lots of ridiculous attacks, on the opposite side of my free TH even (no idea why). They would randomly throw 100 barbs and 100 archers at me, absent any strategy--to absolutely no avail. There were, of course, folks that took the TH with a couple of troops and left quietly, and there was also the occasional very well executed farming attack with good troops/heroes/spells/strategy.

At 1400, if my gold is full and/or DE is high, I can expect to get thumped properly. :)

I haven't had a real attack against me in a month or two. It may be less the trophy range you are in than that TH9 defense is now so strong against farming armies that most good players aren't foolish enough to attack leaving only the poor players who don't know how to measure the strength of their armies against opposing bases to fill my defense log.

I'm starting to see the trend as well, sadly. :(
