I agree that the events should be challenging or they become boring BUT
we have NOT won the last 3 decoration prizes and it wasn't because we weren't trying!
Perhaps the goals are unrealistic? If we can NEVER meet the challenge, then we stop trying. Simple as that.
I for one will fill trucks as usual. If we win our 5 gems, so be it. If not...ho hum.
It would be nice if we could try again sometime for the decorations we have not won.

Thanks, Nick! Even the small glimpses into the decision-making regarding what can and cannot technically work is helpful. We know that some of our suggestions wouldn't work even if Supercell wanted to use them, but I hope that our pie-in-the-sky (or even just raspberry muffins) ideas spark workable possibilities when you send them on to the developers.
A couple of people have asked if anyone from Supercell checked in with a post anywhere in the forums. The answer is no. Not since Nick's last post before going on vacation. If there is a Supercell staff post in a thread, there will be a little Supercell icon in the line of that thread. There are ZERO for the entire holiday period. That's why I posted that I felt like Nick should be able to go on vacation and have SOMEONE back home trying to fill his shoes--or at least to post an acknowledgement that we aren't being ignored.
It would be interesting to know what the distribution is of farmers at different levels. Are the numbers/percentages at higher levels growing? I'm assuming that players come and go. Does that predictably happen at certain levels? (I have a couple of followers who obviously dropped out at about level 30.) I agree that the mid-level farmers have more than enough on their plates. It's almost enough to be discouraging when you NEVER feel like you will have enough vouchers for the pet you want, you haven't been able to expand your barn or your farm for days/weeks, you have decisions to make with your too-few diamonds, etc. For the past 10 levels at least, I've not been pushing it. In fact, the rate at which I level up and acquire new machines is fine. Right now, all my energy is going into expanding the two new fishing holes. (I think that's where some of the map glut comes from--farmers who quit expanding town to work on fishing holes since the ducks arrived.)
I think a big look needs to be taken at the town. A huge number of players (based on my town visits looking for treasure chests) do NOTHING with their town except expand the land.
I agree that updates don't always need huge bells and whistles. There are everyday features that I greatly appreciate. For example, the change in the little icons that tell me if I still have animal products that need to be harvested or animals that need to be fed is fabulous. It was weird at first, but now it saves me a bunch of time and it means that those cows that I can't see behind the row of coffee bushes will get fed. I also LOVE having the farm level on the ads in the DD. When I need something common, I'll go to the lowest level farm I can find and pay whatever they are asking. I may even buy stuff I don't need. (Others have said this, too, in different threads.)
We love our farms and are looking forward to what the Superc-elves have for us in 2015. A gramophone to play music for gnome-romance on Valentine's Day, or perhaps an Irish-pig-jig on St. Patty's Day would be fun! In the "Event" discussion, I love the idea of a choice of prize: diamonds, decorations, tools.
Sounding off about the failed events has been a popular opinion these past few weeks.
The event mid level prizes stink, the final prizes are rather lame, the targets are unrealistic, and a lot of loyal players are just throttling down their hay day time.
Nick and I go way back to before he gave the 'moderator' role or whatever he was, to Crickets. In fact, he did that within a few hours after my contact with him questioning SCs official statement concerning how difficult some of the changes would be. I wish I could say i caused that, but I know better. Just a coincidence. Nick and I have not often seen eye to eye on many issues.
Due to my software engineer background I used to shout '♥♥' (as well as other tech engineers) when Nick would describe all of the problems with solving the diamond confirmation issue (remember how long that went on for).
Still, I will give Nick a chance on this issue - to tell the powers that the masses are getting restless and they had better come up with a solution, or face watching the game fade off into the hd sunset.
You want a real grand prize that is bound to get the attention of EVERY player, from level 1 to 200? If the goal is met, a free barn upgrade to the next size for all who qualified. No matter if your barn is size 100 or 9950 .... You are going to want to play that event. As I used to tell Nick, the design, coding logic, testing, and implementation to make that work is minimal.
how about it SC .... Time to step up to the plate and add some creativity to the game.
