Your Thoughts

Hey all,

For all the talk of farming being dead, it sure is a strange thing to continue to hear reports both from this community and my fellow clanmates (all of whom are farming at differing TH levels and trophy counts) being so successful. For myself, I’ve played today for about 2 hours on and off and amassed more than 5 million gold. If anything, farming is getting better for me, so what is the problem? And why the hate for those of us wanting to share our good fortune with others participating on this forum?

Case in point, here is a recent quote from a fellow member of our community after I posted a thread related to farming:

When I posted tips about flags and decorations, I was accused of stealing ideas because I talked about strategies that had already been mentioned publicly. Get over yourself. If you are the first person to go public about a strategy, you do not own that strategy.

The only thing you do by going public is to demonstrate that you were the "last" one to figure it out on their own, since now everyone can just read about it, and where's the fun in that?

You can read my full response to Mediapluck in the Farm-o-nomics 101 thread, but basically I said that I considered this forum as my community, as the place where I learned how to play this game more effectively, and thus wanted to give back. Also that I felt the real issue for Mediapluck and those who share his sentiments is that too many of us apparently lost and forlorn wayward noobs are pecking away at the pie they apparently want to gobble down all by themselves. Concluding that I’d rather all of us starve than to have to see those types all fat and bloated at the top while we scrape by at the bottom.

Here is what another member had to say, which I think begs the questions, what are we all doing on this forum?

But i should add that pedro did keep his mouth shut long enough for him to finish his skull walls, then when he was in no need for masses of gold anymore he decided that he would completely ruin it for all the farmers bringing up the rear. So we can add selfishness to your list of admirable qualities Pedro? I should add that 'farm-o-nomics' are completely null and void now, as all you find down in the farming zone is other farmers. There is literally nothing left to farm. But anyone with half a brain could have figured out that this was the only real outcome of broadcasting the strategy of farming on the forums.

Perhaps i'm being to hard on Pedro, maybe he is not a idiotic as he first appears? Maybe he knew exactly what would happen with his big mouthed attention seeking antics on the forums? It's entirely possible that it was his intention all along to completely kill farming, after all he had finished his skull walls anyway. Why should anyone else benefit the way he did? Who knows. Either way, PedroLee, what a guy!!

So thanks again Pedro, the farming community owes you so much.

Do I doubt that you are a better farmer than PedroLee? Not really. There is always a better farmer. Do I think you are jealous of him because of your 'look at my abs' jab? Just a little. Sure, the abs picture is a bit much, but hell, I wish I had his abs. If they just magically appeared on my belly all of a sudden, heck, I may even post a picture of myself for everyone to see lol. And your other jab about Pedro being selfish in s-h-a-r-i-n-g "state secrets" (a capital offense apparently) didn't go unnoticed either. I get it, you are bitter. But since I am dumb, and you are smart, I am sure you see the logical fallacy in calling someone selfish for sharing. Just saying.

Finally, you say that farming is dead? Well Supreme Chancellor and Grand Exalted Ruler of the CoC Universe "LONG LIVE THE KING!" it still allowed me to upgrade my walls to level 7 within a week playing casually. I know, I know..I should shut up because airing this knowledge means that my ability to do so will disappear. Honestly, I don't care if it does. I do care that only a sellect few should benefit from it while the rest of us struggle to collect enough resources to make even the lowest of upgrades. But again, that may just be me.....oh, and the 99% of other players. Either way, you are quite a guy yourself.

Ultimately, I consider everyone on this forum my community. Like many, I’m upset with some aspects of the new updates, but I still love playing this game and want others to enjoy playing it as much as I do. I figure, the more people playing and being successful at it, the more fun it will ultimately be in the end. Perhaps I am wrong? Well, I’m throwing it out there for everyone to let me know what this community is really about. Are we all here because we are “attention seeking kids that don’t have any self-esteem of our own and no teammates?” Or are we here to share our experiences, knowledge, and love/hate for a game we all enjoy playing?

Seriously, I’m curious.

i think that its your own choice:

1.tell your secrets to the community
2.tell to your friends and clanmates only
3.keep it to yourself

"To each his own"

It depends how one person see it. Mediapluck considers his Clan his community and the rest as his enemy while some of us consider the entire Clash of Clans as community. It won't reflect that he is being selfish. For him, it is their strategy and that it is not allowed to be shared to the enemy as for people ere writing guides, it is meant to be shared to the whole Clash of Clans Community.

These also depends on which community you've been exposed to. For him, his past says that he is a part of a hacking community were things mist require secrecy. And for example me, belongs to a body building community where all informations are shared and as mich as possible, as detailed as it can get.

No one can really say "you are wrong" in terms of beliefs because each person has their own thoughs and opinion. It's just that sometimes, one's act are being misinterpreted as something which is entirely not.

The point is, whatever you think is right, do it to your content as long as you're not offending anyone on the process. Be as respectful as you can be as humble as you can be. Having said that, be ready what people may throw at you, don't hate your haters. Acknowledge them. Maybe they are misunderstanding you right now but maybe in a lot defferent aspect, you share the same beliefs.

It's not about what you do at one point. Its about what you do most in general.

Completly agree idm lack of loot like a lot of others but there's not a whole lot out there around the ranges I've looked 700-1500 trophies

Main account drops trophy til find anyone with 180k elix. Logout, login at around 300+ drop til find a good elix cycle. Semi-active due to maxing pumps. Fast paced farming don't exist at TH9. It's always a struggle for loots. Will resume playing once all pumps maxed.

I did pretty well at 250 today; I think the exodus to the bottom has kicked up quite a few ppl that can be farmed at that range. There is something of a wasteland between 300-700. 100 and under was also quite good for me. Can't promise what it will be like tomorrow ;) I have Clanmates doing well at 1100, and one clanmate that isn't having any problems I'm aware of at 1800+, so the gold is there. I really do think it comes down to approach for many. I'm sitting behind a shield at the moment with over a million in gold and elixer (finally after 3 hours of constant attack / + 250 trophies). In the time it took me to get my shield, 5 people made an all-out attack on me. Guess the 180,000+ gold and elixir was too tempting to pass up. But this is my whole point. Why? The most anyone made off with was 36,000 gold 6327 elixir. And that was a lvl 60 blowing a whole army to get next to nothing. Even if he did make off with the whole loot, what a waste! By making better choices, he could easily make a million for the cost it took to make off with a pittance. I'd rather press the next button 20 times to wait for the right match-up.

Didn't mean it to go that way. Was hoping for a bit more of a discussion about whether ppl come here to get and share ideas or if they agree that if you find a way to improve your experience and be successful that you shouldn't share that with the community. As I said earlier, I think my experience of the game is contingent on others having success. There will always be new players to farm off of...hell, this app is number 2 in top grossing games in the Canadian app store. I don't see the harm in passing knowledge to the community here, since they represent only a portion of the people actually playing the game.

Someone gets rich by selling chicken they made with a secret ingredient.

Someone tells his friend his ingredient, they both get rich.

His friend tells his friend, etc etc, know the groups of friends get rich.

One of the friend goes viral with the secret ingredient the recipe is now avaliable to the public.

BOOOOOOM the business dies and they all go bankrupt

Posting on this site for the community to benefit does not equal going public. I'll say this again, the number of people on this site represent a small number of the people actually playing the game. Just compare the number of people viewing (247 at the moment) to the number of people signing up daily or currently holding an account. Sure, there are more frequent visitors to this forum than that number, but it still pales in comparison to the number of people in the CoC universe. I would say we are not on the order of "BOOOOOM the business dies and they all go bankrupt." I'm still making millions per hour despite the "apocalyptic" fear-mongering I keep on hearing about. And so are hundreds and thousands of other people.
