Why is it a shame to be able to afford to pay $3k for a game? in order to be top dogs..either you put in inhuman hrs of playtime or you pay to get to the top. Different ways to get there...one is not better than the other.
(imagine the hrs you have to play to get max th10 and multiply that by $10/hr....I'm sure the answer will be from an opportunity cost, the person putting in the time has "spent" more on the game)
Wow. Some of us are well beyond minimum wage. Some people spend $3k/yr on coffee or cigaretts or whatever their drug of choice is.
Basically don't care who spends what on this game or any other. It's a game. Play it. Don't play it. Spend money on it. Don't. Whatever.
Key to happy life. Don't look at what other people have or don't have relative to you to make yourself happy. It doesn't work. Unless you have way more than everyone else. If you do, congrats, you win.
I only care about how much I spent on this game.
I think top 10 player is almost impossible without gems, but you don't need gems to max your base - just lots of time. With some things you can trade time for a few gems, I mean boosting barracks to farm more efficiently. I see that as in investment in my time, if I play the game for long periods surely the odd £3 to get 500 gems to boost with makes me progress a bit fast without purchasing resources.
You can actually get to champ without purchasing gems, just save the gems from the bushes etc to use on your push to champ.
These guys who gem pump money into the system to enable Supercell to make the game better for us all.
I also consider those gamers who buy a new console £400, then £40 a game to play on it. This game is free to download, and much cheaper than PS4 or XBox1
Seems like people who complain or hate gemmers are the younger generation when they have a lot of time to waste. Working adults like myself with a decent job would tend to think time is more important than money when a lot of them would pay someone to clean their house, do laundry or even have grocery shipped to their home.
When people get older and have more responsibilities but with decent earning power, most would choose to use money to free up time....
Big gemmers keep this game virtually free for the rest of us, so in that sense, they are heroes to me. And while it's true that top players need to spend a lot to stay up top, money is NOT an auto-pass to be on top. I've seen someone with dual LV40 royals failed to 3-star a TH9 and many have a hard time reaching Champion League (yes, they do exist). Money help speed things up for sure but that's about it for this game. If you suck without gems, you still suck with gems. So, stop hating already.
Very good points. I have spend cash on the game, not mega bucks but still a fair amount. I also spend a LOT of time on the game too, I see it as a hobby that I invest in. And my time is more valuable than spending a little here and there to make the most efficient use of my time.
Just because these particular individuals paid to win, doesn't make the game itself pay to win.
Maybe that doesn't make any sense.
There is nothing in this game that can be bought with gems that cannot be achieved by non-paying members.
All you need is time.
Pay To Win is when you buy the best items that is ONLY available through purchase. That's P2W.
And the Poll makes absolutely no sense whatsoever....
