Witches or Wiz and Archers. the witches will keep spawing skellys as long as she can, stalling them while AD pound the dragons. Archers and Wiz because of their numbers take forever for a dragon to target them all if they don't bunch up and their DPS is impressive. you could also have tanks in your CC to eat up their DPS for a couple seconds but thats not reccommended
I don't think there is one since, dragons take them down so easily.
Witch is probably the worst vs dragons since she will draw the dragons in more than other units.
Maybe another dragon or a hound. Their massive hps will hold down a few dragons while the structures pound them.
Hound no good for TH8 tho unfortunately. Id prob say witch and minions used together. I guess the drag cant target ground and air at the same time/
Hounds but you cant hold them. So a drag or maxed wiz would do, especially if the attacker doesn't use a heal or rage wizards do some serious damage. Put a couple barbs or even a witch too, it may lure drags away if ground troops are deployed.
1) Lava hounds, the drags take forever to kill them.
2) Valkeries
3) Witches
Those are the top 3, anything else they take out easily and it doesn't matter.
Think about how splash works. A dragon targets either ground or air on each attack. So, if you have a variety of troops with different speeds and some land, some air, a dragon wouldn't be able to take them all out at once. For this reason I think minions and dragons can be underrated in defensive CCs when mixed with ground troops like wiz or arch. The key for me is having different types of units with different speeds so my defense troops are less likely to clump together.
A dragon simply having to do 2 attacks rather than one can give the ADs enough extra time to make a difference.
Probably wizards because a group of them can easily take out a group of drags due to their splash damage. One witch for the skeles as a distraction and the rest wiz works great. If not them then archers although they tend to group together and drags to splash to troops. All in all one witch and the rest wizards works very well.

Witch with a few wiz and goblins works the best for us. We put something like that in all our CC of TH8 who will get dragged.
Most attackers forget that as soon as they drop their hero/es this triggers the skellies and goblins and the dragons chase them off to the side. It doesn't work every time, but this has foiled MANY raids vs our TH8 in the past.
Wiz and arch just get plowed over so no real point to them imo.
To everyone suggesting golems / valks / other ground troops, if it's mass dragon and air only cc troops, ground old troops won't even come out of the CC. 2nd, TH8 doesn't have a big enough CC for golems or lava dogs...

never done it, but curious if having a healer in CC can help with dragons. when in range, it comes out and since it is not offensive, it will just stay by castle, pulling dragons towards it. Would that be useful to screw up a dragon attack?
TH8 = 3 wiz the rest archers
TH7 = 2 wiz the rest archers
i've seen the skeletons of witches drag a group of dragons clear across a base after the attacker dropped the bk. air defenses agro and mines trigger. really funny to watch. that being said, a witch and some archers
TH 7 can't really defend against mass drag attacks anyway.
The amount of ppl suggesting golems and lava hounds is unreal
The best CC in a drag attack is one that gets triggered when the drags are attacking the town hall and makes them go another way. In my opinion, the best troops to put in there are witches and wizards. You ask why? Because witches will spawn skeletons and the drags will be distracted by them meanwhile wizards will shoot the drag to their death!
I've seen a lot of messed up Dragon attacks by a cc full of Archers only. (cc should be within reach of the 3 AD's).
25 archers coming out from different sides of the clan castle will surely distract Dragons while the AD's shoot them to death.
It doesn't really matter what you have if the person attacking knows what they are doing. Attack from the opposite side of the base to the clan castle then as the troops come out they pull the dragons straight to the centre when they run past the town hall.
Save a rage for the troops and drop it and it's toasted troops and the Town Hall at the same time.
People who think dragons take no skill are simply wrong. Less acumen needed than a good GOWIPE or Loonion attack but you still need to know what you are doing if you are attacking a base with decent AD.
for our th8s i always put a max drag and 5 archers
There is no sure fire way to defned as th8s are generally toast but if the atatcker is weak or deloys not in groups a lvl 4 drag can cause some havoc might prevent the 3rd star
