Help! How to keep your gold?

I'm fairly new here to this forum, and I'm somewhat new to CoC, i'm a level 35 with a level 6 Town Hall. I've been getting destroyed fairly easily by higher levels at least ten levels above or the same level as me. Easily raiding my hard earned gold.

SO I came here for help/tip on how to contain your gold by having a stronger defense.

Defense Buildings:
3 lvl 6 archer towers
3 lvl 6 canons
1 lvl 1 Wiz Tower
1 lvl 2 Mortar 1 lvl 1 Mortar

150 limit wall

Farming Buildings:
3 lvl 10 Gold Mine 2 Lvl 4 Gold Mine
2 Lvl 9 Gold Storage
2 lvl 9 Elixir Collect
2 lvl 8 Elixir Storage

Army:

3 Barracks
3 Camps

2 Builder's Hut

Well first, whats your clan and name in game? Also you could easily just spend your resources on walls and defenses as your earn it. But id need to see your base to know how to improve it.

Post your base. And since you're getting killed by high level players, your trophy count is prolly too high.

You're in a real vulnerable place in the game. I was equally frustrated there because you're going to get picked on by a lot of TH7s who have a lot more toys and armies to use on you. Post your base and we can give you tips.

I just grazed the bottom of Silver 1. I have 1016 trophies, so I don't think it's usually that is it? Or I think some higher levels usually lower their trophy to farm and target lower levels? I have no idea.

Yeah, I have no idea how to setup my base and I've been going through searches such as level 6 TH best defense, and it's pretty hard to copy or simulate what they have going since every play style is different. I'll be posting up a screen shot to give you guys a better look. Thanks!

frankly, the very best defense at your TH level is spending all of your resources.

your upgrades are so cheap (it may not seem like it, but 400K for an upgrade is really nothing in the long run). if you farm for upgrades in a single sitting or a couple sittings, you can minimize how hard you get hit.

no one, not even bully TH7s, will raid your base for no resources -- particularly if you are low on gold.

if your play schedule doesn't allow you that flexibility, i'd recommend hitting TH7 asap for the new toys/defenses.

Thanks! At least I have something to base what my base can look. Not entirely copying them, but improvise on what I have. Because I don't even have my second WIZ tower yet. :/

Sorry, you just lost me there. What do you mean spending all of my resources? Meaning upgrading my gold mine? My play schedule is decent, at least when I get a small amount of time. I even had a week when I just farmed and donated.

If you can elaborate more on spending on my resources, it'd be such a great help. Thanks for all the tips. I'm so clueless and it sucks.

He means leave as little possible in your storages, upgrade your defenses, walls, barracks, everything. That way there is nothing there to steal.

I am currently using layout number 2 for farming purposes , but I changed the AD with the CC as i have never been hit by mass dragons or balloons raids in the 1050 range, which is good because the CC radius of activation covers all the base.

Regarding on how to protect your resources Testikiller, I will recommend you to but the second wizard tower ASAP and select one of the previous layouts.

Your base layout pic causes me to ask you this question: Do you value your trophies or your resources (gold/elixir) more?

At your TH level, you simply do not have enough walls and defenses to properly defend both the town hall (trophies) and the 4 storages (gold/elixir) in my opinion. I'd recommend moving one of them outside the walls to make your defense of the other more effective. Assuming you answered that resources are more valuable, the very center of your base should be the thing that you prize most of all. Everything else in your base is there to protect it. Town Hall does nothing to protect resources (unless it is destroyed), so it goes outside the walls until you decide you want to climb the trophy ladder.

I had the 'spiral of death' base layout for a while in the TH6/7 range (before WB change). It was effective but I found I got wiped out a little more frequently than I'd like. I switched to a compartmentalized base design like the ones that pinser replied with.

Regarding your protection of resources Testikiller, I would buy the second Wizards Tower ASAP, throw out the TH and upgrade walls.

Put your town hall outside your walls in the corner for a night. You will get attacked by someone trophy hunting and they will go for your town hall. You will only lose about 4 trophies and you will get an 8 hour shield. Put your storage and pumps in the middle where your town hall was to protect them better. You won't lose much of your resources at all.

Your input/advice, kinda woke me up. Yeah, I'm aiming resources so I should just move gold/elixir inside and keep my TH out. I only upgraded my townhall for better, but then again my clan was asking for a trophy push. So I tried. I really appreciate you advice! Thanks!

Yeah, I need those shield for saving up as well! So maybe, I should just put the TH outside. Thanks!

Just to add to the good advice so far:

Your cannons and archer towers are pretty well upgraded, but your wizard tower and mortar are very low. You wouldn't guess just looking at the stats, but because they do splash damage, these two are the most important to upgrade first. I would concentrate on leveling those two up asap.

Yeah, I over look the stats too much! Which is bad I know. I'm paying the price for it when I'm trying to farm :/. Yeah, I'm saving up for my second Wiz Tower. And probably up my mortars too! Thanks :3

Never protect your town hall. Leaving it outside will make attackers take it, give you a shield, and leave. Centralize the clan castle when you make a base.

^-^ I just updated. The TH is out! Upgrading my mortar, and saving to get a new Wiz Tower!

If you want to protect your base you should really close it off not have a spiral of walls.

I just changed my layout! :3 Thanks! I'll be posting up another picture when I've gotten my mortar lvled and another Wiz Tower.

When I was TH6 I used a box within a box design, with the inner box separated into two compartments. The outer box held non splash defences and most of the collectors and it was amazing how many goblins and giants just went around in a circle without ever getting my storages. I am not sure how the design will perform since the last update though, as there was a bug in the wallbreakers AI that made them widen the hole rather than open the inner compartment when I was using it.

That's how I'm building my new layout now >.< Hah.

Been a whole since i added images in a forum i hope i do this right...

This worked for me for a while, it might have been the low trophy count, but they seemed to path around the collectors and being divided into 4 sections they usually only get 1 or sometimes 2 (but that was rare) leaving at least half intact.

im at TH6 too, but im THE CoC expert. you need to build an air defense first. second, you ned to build a little box of walls (at least lvl 5) an put your storages, mortars, TH, air defense, and cc in the middle. after that, put all of your collectors and arch towers/cannons in a larger box of walls surrounding the essential stuff. leave everything else outside walls. place traps in the open spaces where wbs are likely to strike. hope it helped.

Can you show me a layout picture for better understanding? I'm confused :confused:

Here's what I would do if I were you (and I'm still doing it now)...
I'm a TH8 with 100% skull walls, still having a bit of towers left before getting to TH9.

My main priority was always GOLD. Elixir is too easy to collect.

When my walls were not maxed (for the current TH level)
- Raid and aim to get just the gold
- Keep yourself within the comfortable range, where you find easy to get 150k-200k gold per raid
- Spend most of your gold for walls
- Always keep 1 builder available for upgrading walls
- When a building upgrade is almost done, make sure you save enough gold for the next upgrade (stop walls upgrading for now). For example, if I know my next Canon upgrade costs 1.5m gold, and my next available builder is in 9 hours, I will stop upgrading walls when there's around 3 hours left on the builder, and start saving up 1.5m gold.
- Make sure when you raid, you do it in sessions, like 2-3 hours session (around 8-12 raids in a row), without logging off. You don't have to stay at your ipad or iphone. Just don't turn CoC off. Plug in the recharge cable if you will. This way, you will get 2-3m per session, and no loss since you are always online during the session
- Make sure that you use as much resources as you can before you log off. Use gold for the walls, always leave your storages low on resources before you log off. If you can't, just make sure to have a good layout to protect your hard work. If you get raided and lose 200k, it's still ok since you get 2-3m per session, 200k isn't a lot, plus you'll get a shield.
- Put your TH outside of the base, free shield

When my walls have been maxed:
- I keep all my builders busy, and save up resources for the next upgrade. Simple as that.
- Put TH outside for free shield

thats what my layout is and it doesnt work. when the gobs take out the collectors around the hole made by wbs, they will swarm into the inner compartment if wbs open that up, too. the giants destroy my splash defenses, too so they basically cripple my bas too easily.
