Masters, is this really what its like?....

Well I finally upgraded to TH10, just made the jump so im still pretty much just a maxed TH9 with lvl 3 infernos. I fluxuate between 2600 and 2800 trophies. I have gotten to the point where I feel like I cant attack anymore. I feel like the only viable attack anymore is a Balloonian raid. To train 28 balloons and 50 minions it costs me 126k elixir and 500 DE. I am getting 100k bonus for 50% so im literally just breaking even on every attack, and any time I mess up it puts me in the whole big time with Elixir. Its tough to farm to upgrade my defenses when I keep running out of elixir. Can someone help me out here?

I'm only tonwhall9 but we have a clan member and he only barch in masters and does fairly well.. Steadily doing upgrades and keeps both heros down his heros are in 30 range so that's alot of dark. He uses barch ffa attack

If it makes you feel better, I was in the same boat.
Maxed 9 (full Skulls, few Legos) so the ITs were a welcome defense turret. I was winning a lot of defenses but not on offense with out Loons. but as you know that strat burns a lot of elixir if you rely on spells and takes time if you don't boost rax.. (and will probably need the spells up in M3 as a fresh 10) so its tough to find a balance..

So two things;

1 it gets better once you have a few maxed troops upgraded for TH10, and your Camps make a HUGE difference, the single biggest help was maxing camps. When you finish them it seems to give you enough firepower to get through IMO.. (so do them straight away.. I had an idle lab just to get them done!)

2 Search more...look for TH9s to raid, they are the new 'diet' its tough to Barch exclusively... since the TH9s are better equipped to repel T1 troops with dual X-Bows and maxed turrets. esp the splash, that and X-Bows shred Barch. :-/ So once you get good at TH9 attacks start getting some jabs in on the 10s with poor setups and rushed turrets.

If you can afford to Boost the SF, then Rage helps get that 50% a lot better than not with Barch based army, otherwise you must search for Weaker 10 (no or upgrading or ITs) or real premie THs that obviously got there on their attacking skill. Kill any 8 you see (if there are any) and keep searching, usually the win bonus covers most of the cost for searching, plus any you get from raids...

so in summary take the painstaking time to max those camps. IMO they matter the most at this TH more than any other.

I am a near maxed TH10. I normally Barch in C2 for loot but took advantage of the 1 gem boost over Xmas and pushed to Champs for the first time. On the journey up Gold and DE are plentiful but Elixir was a bit touch and go. The 2 methods are either full blown raids for 2* or constant Barch for 50% ignoring loot just for league bonus. It is quite interesting to see shift of common bases of leagues as I go up where the focus shifts from protecting loot to protecting from 50%.

I'm pushing to masters as we speak... What army comps are people having success with mainly? I'm using giant/healer/hog/wiz/archer/wb right now....

When I was TH9 I did it with Loonion. This round as a TH10 I got up to M2 with Barch before switching to GoWiWiPe/GoWiWi. Tried Lavoonion but the X-Bow bug screwed my raid so staying away from air.

As a th8 I made it to ~2200 barching, ~2400 loons/minions, and then like the other guy said, was out of elixer, so just hogged to ~2700. After dropping back down to farm, I was a max th8 for a couple weeks before going to 9, and practiced gowipe which brought me to ~2500 again without trying to push, could be used without too much difficulty to get to masters Id think

This is interesting read, not because I am in masters or have this problem but because I just pushed to crystal III last week and ever since being here I've had a similar type issue as a TH8. I floated in Silver I and II farming for a while but wanted to just push to crystal so I could focus on DE and getting my BK to 10 and hogs to 4, but the DE has not been that easy and the ones with 1k> are typically higher level th9 and 10s. So I search for a while and end up with a base that offers "ok" loot. After doing that a while I use my elixir since we war 2-3x/wk. it's a grind! Plus I am getting smacked around by th9-10 lol!

I only want to go to masters for the achievement and to see if I can snipe some decent loot from exposed storages....

You can try a mix of giant-wiz (abt 12 of each) and the rest barch (mostly arch) with a few wb and going for the 50%. I did this as TH9 for quite a while in M3 so should be very doable for you as TH10 with one extra spell. You still need spells typically (I use 3 heal 1 rage) but advantages over loonion:

1) No DE used
2) Shorter cook time of both troops and spells (heal vs rage for loonion)
3) Easier harvesting of collector raids with barch.
4) Easier to get a cc from clan (unless your clan loons a lot)

What you do is split the giant-wiz into 2-3 groups at places where you want to penetrate a bit deeper into base (eg. reach storages or full drills), and cover them with a heal. Barch outside buildings for the 50%.

The disadvantage is that missing heroes are a bigger factor than when you use air. Also, you most likely are not gonna reach the core (which is often the case with loonion as well).

When you hit lvl 7 giants and 240 troop space I think this wld be pretty easy.

Another thing I have seen people use, but haven't tried myself, is one golem and the rest archers. Same logic as the above attack I think. One meatshield to penetrate a bit deeper, than archers all round for the 50%.
