Someone released 8 L5 WB's simultaneously on me and they followed the red path (see picture). The first 2 paths went as I would have expected. However, after breaking the 2nd set of walls, I would have expected them to follow the blue path. See video: http://youtu.be/7FIsqxE8tEY. Can someone explain this?

They go for the closest enclosed building. They should have destroyed the single enclosed AT first
If you mean the AT on the right, the splash damage from the 2nd hit opened up that pocket. If you mean the AT on the left, that's much farther away than the DE/WT pocket, which is why I'm puzzled.
The AT with the red circle next to it, on the left, was closer to the point where the wall breakers were dropped than the AD. Did they send all wb at the same time?
sorry I didn't read it properly. I just watched the video and that's strange. I'd be miffed if i was the attacker, ♥♥♥ are they doing?
may be due to the fact that the walls on the left were purple. lazy wbs fancied the lower level walls instead?
Yeah all 8 were released simultaneously (see video). I was under the impression that they make their decision not from their drop point, but from their current position. If they are released in batches of 2, then yeah, the decision is based on the drop point (= current position).
Yeah, I noticed that too and thought that for a while too, but there are purple walls that are closer on the bottom of the picture (where the elixir storage is... it's a bit cropped out of the picture, but you can see in the video it is an enclosed pocket.)Quote:

I think what happens is when there are a bunch of wb at the same spot each is assigned a target to destroy so say first & second target wall one rest target wall 2. Now if the first bunch got killed the second bunch will still have their target as wall 2.
I might be wrong but that's what happened, after the first wall destroyed and the wbs paused then got hit by the wizard tower which killed a few of them as they were starting to move. Only one wb made it as it was moving away from the wizard tower splash damage range
What do you guys think?
This is probably similar to the issue that has been seen with the archer AI where units will sometimes attack a building beyond the closest one. I also recently had a dragon mowing down the line of my outer buildings turn and attack my elixer storage even though it was at least two full squares further away than the nearest building. The last set of wallbreakers probably retargeted from their original target, not the second closer in target.
The problem was he released all of them simustainly. I always drop 2-2-2-2 with about 1 second apart. That way they would follow the red path.
I don't claim to know exactly how the WB AI works, but this is definitely not true. As soon as you release a WB, a target sign appears over the wall that it is targeting. If you release all 8 at the same time in the same spot, you'll see that all 8 are targeting the same wall piece (sometimes they may split between 2 different wall pieces... I believe this happens if there are 2 equidistant wall pieces/enclosed buildings). In the video, you'll see all 8 WBs targeting the same walls initially. I believe once that wall is destroyed, they recalculate their next target as if their current position was the drop point (that last part I'm not 100% sure).Quote:

From what I read about the WB update is they target walls for the closest resource (be collector or storage not sure) then move to the next wall to move inward to say the TH or storage. I think they were going for the elixer. Why not the dark elixer? I don't know not at that level yet.
Then what is left from the 8 move in to the center more. This keep them, unlike other games like backyard monsters from attacking wall pieces placed around the center and wasting WB's trying looking for walls.
just be happy that the AI isn't wasted on single wall blocks surrounding the center (again like BYM) and focus on opening walls for the resources. Why not the dark elixer first? Maybe they go for resources you can get 100% on not one you get a percentage of.

Wallbreakers target the nearest building behind walls which is why u should avoid t junctions when building ur base
Maybe it's that they target buildings from their drop point not their current location.
I know they start from drop point then after their goal is done they move from current location to the next nearest whatever.Quote:
