I am very close to maxing out my defense in my TH 8 base. Now I am wondering whether I should upgrade my walls before I upgrade my town hall. Because both pink walls and purple walls take 2 wallbreakers to break through, so they are pretty much the same. But purple walls are expensive - they're 200,000 a piece. However, some say that I should upgrade my walls to all purple when my town hall is at level 8. I am confused. What are your opinions?
Most people will tell you to upgrade all to lv8 which is 500,000 a piece after the 200,000 to get to lv7.
While it's not necessary I feel to go TH9 Lv7 is the minimum... pink TH9...
Each level wall definitely improves your chances of keeping out a raid especially the inner core layers.
Not many people will carry 10+ WB to break all your layers.
If it was me I would definitely start working on those walls now in TH8 rather than trying at TH9 where there will be many other more tempting upgrades vying for your gold.
I'm mid TH8 and have more than 1/2 my walls lv8 the rest lv7
I personally am upgrading all of my walls to level 8 before th 9. So yeah, I'd say at least get 7.
TH 9 with pink/purple walls are candy for farmers.
upgrade EVERYTHING... before going to TH9, that's what i did and don't regret it at all.
u get level 6 troops... we get to farm your base without penalties... its a win win situation...
Why did you wait until the end to upgrade your walls? You should have been upgrading them all along.
I agree it is a personal option on upgrading wall.
It is the similar situation in air defence. If you think you will never hit by dragons, Just put your Lv 1 AD out of the wall for good looking. Similarly, you can keep you wood wall here, why not? It is your choice. Lv 1 and Lv 9 wall, what's the difference? Well if you don't feel like upgrading, just keep it. It look rock, isn't it?
Honestly, I really like SC to allow BIG version wood wall. :)

Why even bother with pink walls? Just stick with gold, or better yet think of how much you would save my using no walls at all.

What you're saying is true, however stronger walls will keep out other troops better after the wbs run out. Really, the point of maxing your base isn't entirely so you have the best defences before you upgrade your TH; it's about loot penalties. Once you upgrade you won't get nearly as much off a TH7 and forget TH6s, most of the time you will be attacking TH8s and 9s; loot is far cheaper to get at TH8. But if you don't care about that go ahead and upgrade.Quote:

I added a line to my sig because I see this question so often. How many wbs it takes to destroy wall of various levels is relevant, but is not all you need to consider.
It may be only 2 WBs (lvl 4 I assume) but what about Barbs/Archers/Giants/Gobs tearing through the walls? before or after the WB hits? it only gets harder the higher the level, quite obviously. why slack I always wonder?Quote:

When I see a more mature TH8-9 with purple walls, (or greater lvl8-9 I reconsider more often than I do the ones with pink walls (depending on the layout of course).
and as stated earlier, you may as well get it, 'while the getting is good' for the TH you are at. anything above TH6 is recommended to max Defenses, *especially splash turrets* (including Walls) and Offensive upgrades before you go to the next TH lvl.
but play as you will, like others I welcome all the underdeveloped TH8-9 that I see! (cept maybe the ones with dbbl cross bow, but my troops will be up in the next 10-14 days anyhow so...)
