maxing EVERYTHING?

My idea of maxing before progressing is mainly the research. Since that is a linear path and it's time consuming, especially at TH 9, I want to get that done. Whatever is not done at your current TH just carries over and I would always feel behind.
While I'm maxing research I can easily get all defenses done and most of the walls if not all of them.

So in short, to me, maxing under TH 10 is all about the research. If for some odd reason research was all I had left... ie.. heroes are maxed, walls are maxed.. I'd probably consider progressing but that has never happened to me. (at least since the early TH's anyways)

nice thought, so I guess if I ever plan of doing Gowiwi or gowipe I would be left out on th9 features. as im still stuck on what I haven't done to a th8 upgrade. Thanks

I feel that you should max everything there is to upgrade out at TH8 for the simple fact that you are not currently a target for Town Hall 10's. Sure you will be attacked by some, but most won't waste the attack simply because the loot deduction.

Ranking to TH9 would make you a much more valuable target to them and it would be harder to farm for the DE / Elixir that you need for many upgrades unless you are on 24/7.

IMHO, I believe that you should stick to TH8 and finish your walls/whatever you have left before proceeding.

Since you're working on skulls it seems like you'll have some time to do it, why not max everything? Better now than later when you want to use those troops.

Do golems while you are upgrading to th9. Even if you don't it's not that big of a deal I'm th9 and I went without upgrading valks. Now I've got one troop upgrade left and alot of wall and hero upgrades to go. Wall and hero times at th9 are much longer then lab time

I am a nearly max Th10 and still have level 1 valks. They will literally be the last 3 upgrades possible in my lab. To each their own.

If you really enjoy the game, think you will play it for a time, and are willing to invest time in it then max everything.

If you can't, then don't. Simple as that.

Now the game has lv 12 gold mines that will be start to change.

Today found a TH8 will fairly full gold storages, hitting the 150k limit and wasn't offline for long. But lv 12 gold mines fill up fast. The TH8 offered 227k gold. The TH8 lost 227k gold.

A TH9 base would have been able to save some of it.

Seriously, if you don't have the patience to farm your base to maximum at your current TH level, what makes you think you'll do it at a higher TH level when loot is harder to come by?

I recommend maxing Golem for GO-x attacks.
