TH8 - DE Troop Upgrade advice

Folks,

Just looking for a bit of advice in relation to what to max out first at TH8, Golem level 2 or Hogs level 4.

I have close to 40,000 DE saved and could pretty much do the hogs now, or could hold off and save another 20,000 for the golems which of course is the biggest DE upgrade at TH8.

Factoring in on my thinking is obviously the GOWIPE and all ALL HOG attacking strategies for TH8 and what would be of more immediate value to me in my regular war attacks.

I have already maxed out my PEKKA at L3 and Wizards at L5, so from one perspective doing Golem 2 would give me a complete GOWIPE set up here at TH8. On the other hand Im told that from level 4+ Hogs start to become really decent.

In reality I always completely max out my bases before upgrading TH so will do both of these upgrades before going to TH9 anyway, but was just looking for some opinions on what you guys would prioritise first and what would be most effective with regular wars in mind.

I thinks hogs are not so useful like before, they can be good at luring CC troops or destroying some defences to open path to other tropps. Golem lvl 2 is great for a GoWiPe army.

But (for my personal advice/experience)
the best usage of your 40k DE is going to th9 and do that awesome AQ. What are you waiting for? :D
TH9 means 4 spells, 220 army spaces, AQ and lvl 6 troops... all these stuff are much better than golem lvl 2 or hogs lvl 4...

TH9 means 4 spells, 220 army spaces, AQ and lvl 6 troops... all these stuff are much better than golem lvl 2 or hogs lvl 4...

😄😄 thanks mate, as tempting as upgrading to TH9 is Im a bit OCD / or methodical when it comes to 100% maxing out before upgrading. 😃

I guess thats 1 vote for the golem being upgraded first then over hogs. Thanks for the advice.

Guys, thanks for the advice, really appreciate that. After a great day's raiding, I have managed to raise the 60K Dark Elixir needed and have started my Golem upgrade, seems like the right thing to do and its good to get the big one out of the way. Will do Hogs level 4 next.

Im sitting on 30K DE right now mostly earned through war bonuses.
Which league did you farm for DE and what troops did you use?

Haha. Even I m doing the same mate.👍👊 upgrading my golems to lvl2. I bet u have taken the best decision. Clash on!!!

I would have preferred Hogs lvl 4. Hogs are really powerful for clan wars at TH8. But even more importantly, lvl 1 Golems are perfectly fine for attacking max TH8 or a TH9 that isn't advanced.

You already started Golems, and that is perfectly fine too. But if you never use hogs, don't upgrade them. I rarely use them but I do not regret my decision to upgrade them. When the giant bomb locations are known and you want to get that last star, nothing is easier than lvl 4 Hogs :)

Hi mate, sorry for the delay, been offline yesterday. I have been farming fairly hard recently, raiding on average 8-10 million per day of G&E, and also picking up between 10-15k per day of dark elixir, and in that time I have experimented farming in a variety of leagues from silver right up to crystal. My personal opinion is that crystal 3 was reasonably good for dark elixir but absolutely awful for gold and elixir, so I dropped back down to the 1400-1600 gold trophy range and that for me seems to offer the best balance so far. I have already in just 3 days raised the 40K dark elixir I need for my hogs 4 update. That was straight after raising the 60K for my golems 2. So think Ill stay here to raid meantime. The other folks may have their own different experiences about raiding, but like I say I'm making an absolute ton of loot at 1400-1600 trophies.

As far as the troops I use, I don't look past Barch, its quick, efficient, cheap, and with the 1-gem barracks boost, you can literally go from raid to raid to raid, and the profit margin is huge. I usually keep 10-12 wallbreakers on standby to use with my Barb King who is maxed out at level 10 in case there is a decent amount of dark elixir that I need to get to in the core, if not though, I just use my Barbs and Archers, get in get the loot, get 1-star and get out.

What are you finding is your best trophy range?

haha, yeah I think so mate. Was glad to get the biggest DE purchase out of the way and it gives me the complete TH8 GOWIPE line up now, along with max wizards, Pekkas, Wallbreakers, and rage spells. Good luck with yours.

Thanks for the advice, yeah I'll definitely be upgrading them and will be looking forward to using them as an alternative attacking option to the GOWIPE. To have both attacking options maxed out at TH8 level is going to be a massive benefit during war.

I totally agree with u. I have a war base which was never been 3 starred till the last war but when only few stars were required in the last minutes of war, I was hogged and 3 starred with a minute left in the attack :'(

Normally I would say get your hogs to lvl 4 (they become a lot better at lvl 4+). But at this point with the free gem boost on barracks the dark elixir is easier to come by. Getting golems done at th8 leaves more dark elixir at th9 for heroes.

IMO Silver 1 is absolute paradise for Gold and Elixir but DE is hard to find.
Raiding TH7s is just mean but whatever ;-)

So I moved to 1600 cups DE is better but its kinda hard for me to get good amounts with barch alone so I need the king pretty much in every raid which means I cant farm too much as Im not boosting.
Will stick around here for some time and see how it goes otherwise C3 it is. :-)
