Read this. I'm not advocating rushing, but to dispel the need for overstaying in th7,8 to wait for the lab upgrades. As long as you have idle builders with nothing to build, you can move up. That said, I moved up with only splash defenses maxed. Never regretted as I can defend against most barch attacks. Only stomped by heavier attacks

Im th7 currently 4 days and 12 hours left until th8. I maxed out everything except my barb king which is level 3. I will admit though. I rushed to th5 and i joined a really good clan that told me my base was rushed and i was to stay at th5 until i was FULLY maxed. That time i was a bit stubborn about my base cause my friends were telling me otherwise. I followed my clan's instructions and I was a fully maxed th5 within 3 weeks.

I have 2 accounts, one just about maxed th9 and one rushed to th10 w/a th7 layout. I wanted to have 2 accounts but play them different to see how hard it is for those who rushed. If you choose to rush your th, you can, just stay in a low league and raid like crazy upgrading your farming troops mainly, as far as defense, start with your splash defense first I'd say. No matter what you do your defense will be weak, so your raiding will have to make up for it. Its a struggle and a pain compared to my th9. But either way, I do enjoy playing both accounts. However, if you decide to rush, you will be an easy target without a doubt, especially in wars and may have trouble getting into certain clans cause of it. After doing both though, maxing is the way to go, I know the wait is a pain but well worth it. Whatever you decide much luck and Happy 2015 clashing!

Because if you use a "labyrinth" type base, it's more reliant on defenses, but your standard bases are more reliant on walls, then defenses IMO. SO true. My base is reliant on walls totally. So it makes sense upgrading my walls first. Also the wall grind is by far the hardest part of coc, and getting a part of it done at the start goes a long way.

I maxed out my whole town hall BEFORE upgrading. Nope i didnt upgrade anything during the upgrade of my th. I did this because of the loot penalty and the fact that i would collect elixir and gold during my th upgrade.
