I have come across this thought alot. Should you really max your TH before upgradeing to the next available TH. I know most people would say yes, but i wanna know everyones thoughts about this topic. If u have a response about this, i would like to know why u picked to max/not max your Th.

Currently at TH9 I have.....
-xbows - both level 1
- cannons - all level 10
- archer towers - 2 level 8 and 4 level 9
- teslas - all level 3
- air defense - all level 4 one level 5
- wizard towers - all level 6 except one is level 4
- mortars - 2 are level 7 the rest are level 6
I have 44 lego walls and the rest are skull walls... I choose walls over defenses personally... I will focus more on maxing my defenses when I have all level 9 walls.. Not saying this is the best way, but I like it this way and I would rather have the wall grinding done and out of the way then I can focus on maxing defensive structures exclusively.
If you don't near max defensively, you are going to get ploughed to death by higher THs if you have any loot. This may or may not be a huge problem for you if you are online all the time and hardly log off. Another common problem is when you go to next TH, with all the new toys to play with your existing buildings, Heroes, troop, walls will get neglected, making you prime target for farmers. If I am farming and I see TH9s with pink walls I smile as it is a given 100% Barch with no spells.
If you don't max (at least your farming troops) offensively, you are likely to struggle to farm with the loot penalty. So if you should decide to rush, I would recommend that you ignore defenses, prioritise on offense. You need money to make money right? Ensure Spell Factory, Army Camps, Lab, and all farming troops and spells are rushed to maxed before you consider any defenses.
Yeah, this does seem to be one of many "dead horses" that are beaten on this forum. I'm a mid-th8 and have fully upgraded all of my th's, prior to going to th8 in late October. Getting loot is pretty good at this level because I don't really have to worry about the loot penalty. I plan to upgrade all defenses, collectors and troops (other then valk) prior to making the jump to th9. My line of thinking is: with every town hall upgrade comes additional upgrades. Why be overwhelmed all while sufferering a loot penalty plus higher "nexting" costs?
At this level, I may not finish all my skull walls but when I make the jump, I'll be balanced and I'll be ready to add all of the new stuff that I'll have to purchase once my th finishes. (AQ, X-bows) If you have to rush it, make sure your defenses and troops that you use (and will probably have to use in wars) are fully upgraded. If you are in a warring clan, I think that rushing hurts your clan more than it helps. Good luck, regardless.
Seems like we think the same way :) My defenses are ♥♥♥♥, but my walls are gold. I turned Th9 three weeks ago, and have been focusing on walls only ;)Quote:

I agree 100% and that was my mindset when I chose to upgrade my TH. I farm (boost barracks) twice everyday, and with those resources I get I spend right away before logging off. However, since I am further along now and have all skull walls and some lego walls, I find myself not getting attacked very often even if I do leave 2-3 mil of each resource in my storages.Quote:

Because if you use a "labyrinth" type base, it's more reliant on defenses, but your standard bases are more reliant on walls, then defenses IMO. All over the forums there are Rushers that are showing how great it is to rush bases and how it is the best thing to do. But what you have to understand, is the reason why they have low defenses but insane walls is because they attack upwards of 800 times a week. They are able rush because they are so active. The loot does get slightly easier to get at th9, but the problem is if you are premmie your base can be wiped out. If you attack an insane amount per day, you are uneffected by defense because when you go on defense, your base has next to no loot. If a medeocre premmie attacker wants save for a 6mil upgrade, they may need to raid for 2-3 days. During that time, their loot will be exposed leaving them open to attack. But if a very active player wants that 6mil upgrade, they can farm it all in one go and not have to go on defense with the loot.
So to wrap up, if you attack maybe 100-200 times per season, max your base because your base will need to go on defense. If you attack like 400 or 500+ per season, rush to th9 because the loot gets easier to get.
