Confirmed: Trophy Update?

Hi fellow Clashers :) So, I have been confused in the past few days why I have been One-Starred (Non-Revenge) in the past few days for 12+ trophies, but I think I have found a possible answer.

My theory is that after the Christmas Update, Supercell is now either trying to match you against a similar town hall against you, or similar exp level to you. I am currently a th8 in crystal 1, and before the update, I saw mostly th10, few th9, and very few th8 when finding a raid. However, in the past three days, almost all of my base finds were either th8s and th9s

As a consequence, since there are far more th8s in gold than crystal, many of my trophy offers have been <10 (Defeat around -35). As a result, many players will be able to grab many trophies off another similar townhall-level player who might be in a higher league. Even now, I am seeing a th8 base with a 1 trophy offer (Defeat -39) and now another with a 3 trophy offer (Defeat -37).

Is this supposed to be an attempt for balanced raiding Clash of Clans? I see its point, but I feel like this system will eventually strictly group up town hall levels (e.g. 99% th 6 in bronze, 99% th7 in silver, 99% th8 in gold, etc.), which totally bores out the trophy system.

Nope, just a bug that occurred during the 1 gem boost. Or so it's widely believed.

It's something thats been happening since the one gem boost started, probably due to more people raiding meaning less people in the usual trophy range, so matchmaking expands. This kind of offerings always happens in champ where there are not many available matchups.

If there are less Players in the Queue, it seems the trophy range for searching is expanded. Before the 1 gem boost this happened only in Champion where 1 or 2 trophy offers are common if you are high enough. Now the same happens in the lower leagues because there are more attackers and less Targets without a shield.

There are more people playing and attacking, more inactive base released from the queue, hence more trophies injected back into the system, so either end will have of the trophy range will be reduced to remove excessive trophies off the active population, and the middle range will be greatly increased. Also the fact that there are limited active base to be hit, attack trophy range become wider, otherwise you will hit the point where there is no base to attack. You will also see repeated base a lot of the time, and it happened as expected.

The thing that bugs me is that in the previous 1 gem events, I hadn't seen something like this before :/ It would be great it anyone could provide observations from all leagues though.

Most one gem boosts in the past year haven't happened during a major holiday..

Why would you put confirmed in the title? Nothing is confirmed here you are just speculating.

Heh sorry I guess I just got carried away and bummed out a little bit by all the recent 1-3 trophy offers in the past hour.

This is a good thing. I don't want to see any th7 in my matchmaking. If it is just a consequence of the boost then I really hope supercell does something to make it permanent.

Ive noticed this too lately and have been wanting to make a thread. This is how it has been for me since i started the game.

lowest possible trophies: 14

highest possible trophies: 32

lowest possible trophies with 1 gem boost: 9

highest possible trophies with 1 gem boost: 37

it seems to have affected the trophies by 5 of its range
