It really depends on who you're attacking but I sometimes use Dragon (Drags & Loons) on my alt, which is a TH7. 6 Drags, 10 Loons and the rest Archers and I've been having a lot of success with 2 & 3 stars on TH8s (they weren't very leveled up of course.) If you just want to use one or two Drags, I suggest just using Giants and Wiz to take out some of the Air Defenses and then dropping your Drags afterward. A few of them still pack a punch if there aren't any Air Defenses smacking at them.
Dragoon [My Fav] & Dragoonion with Heal & rage Spells
I am th7, my clan is too small to war, but I want to farm dark elixir, because I plan on using minions extensively.
For wars, what works best for TH 7s is, 2-3 Dragons with the rest Loons along with a few troops to take out the CC troops. Take 2 Heal spells & 1 rage Spell. Dragon Lvl 1 will work okay but for Loons, you will need to upgrade them to Lvl 4. Then, you can 3 star even maxed out TH 7s. I've done at many times when i had lvl 1 Drag & lvl 4 Loons.Quote:

I'd recommend you get more drag barracks.. at least 3, that really helps. Mass drags are good, but theres also seperate types of dragoon attacks that work exceptionally well provided you know how to use them.
with this boost i have been seeing success with 8 drags, 20 minions and 3 lightning.
much like a mass drag attack in war, you hit the strongest or best placed AD then go in. I drop a drag to opposite points, fan the remaining 6 and then the minions clean up behind.
GREAT for raids when your selectively hunting DE or gold. TRASH for elixir raiding because lvl 3 drags cost so much.
To farm DE, use giants, wall breakers, wizards and archers.
