Balloons...Why?

Why do balloons do damage when they die? No other unit flying or not does damage as far as i know when it dies (except for lava which is what it is supposed to do) so why does the balloon do it? The arguement that it flies and when it crashes is invalid because theoretically a dragon weighs more and it does no damage when it dies it just disappears like every other unit in the game. A wallbreaker is carrying a live bomb that doesn't blow up when it dies. I can't understand why the balloon does any damage at all when it dies.

The balloons are filled with hydrogen.

The balloon are carrying explosives, if you haven't noticed.

As someone has already said; they are carrying explosives (bombs, etc...). The other units that cause splash damage upon death are Golem and Wall Breaker. The most obvious reason why they do this is that SC made it that way.

How can pigs jump over walls? No one knows...

Dragons are living creatures...
when they die, they turn to spirits...

the balloons and the balloon driver itself are not among the living, so they pretty much fall :p

Yes, wallbreakers definitely don't blow up when they die.

Option1: Wall breakers drop their bombs when dying only from 1 meter to the floor. Baloons crash from 10 meter which makes the bombs exploding.

Option2: If the wall breaker dies he can not detonate the bomb any more. If the baloon is shot the skeleton still lives and detonates the bomb while falling down.

Or a balloon t hat is filled with explosives detonated when it falls from the sky.

No I'm asking why SC decided on this..The only other units that do damage after they die is lavas and golems which I forgot in my OP but in both cases they break down into smaller version of themselves. This is not the case with loons. Sure the basket is full of explosives then by that reasoning WBs should also explode even when they die.

They added it in the April 2013 update. It was just a buff for balloons because they were under-powered before.

Thx badfish that is the answer I was looking for even tho I don't think it makes sense since loonion is one of the most viable strats out there.

If they didn't explode loonion would not be as viable of an attack strategy. It would take more loons per defensive structure if they didn't explode.

They carry explosives and when they die, the balloon drops and the bombs explode.
