I would really love to see some kind of lightning shield. I envision a small device that let's say takes up 1x1 cells and covers an area of 4x4 or 5x5. You should be able to upgrade the level...and the higher the level, the more damage (aka number of lightning spells) it absorbs.
There is nothing worst then having a well protected dark storage with 70k of dark and some ♥♥♥ with his 150 barbarians and 4 lightining spell takes 2500 dark from you. If you don't plan on doing something like this, then I would say that the cost of lightning spells should be increased to offset this cowardly attack. Something needs to be done as this is just annoying.
