I think the keys are staying on as long as possible, even if your not raiding just hit the reload button while your doing other things, I only get attacked 2 maybe 3 times a day when I do this. Find a new layout and make sure you TH is outside for snipers, and Farm beyond goals, by the time my next builder frees up and I start my next xbow upgrade Ill have over 6million saved up, that way if I get raided I still have enough to start the upgrade.
Xbow lv 3 is not hard last week upgrade both to lv 3
just need to raid in session and hope for sniper
and hopefully luck on find raid
now the loot is bad waste half hour just next next and next losing gold easily by nexting so i am take a rest now

And yes, using a good farming base helps tremendously. Right now I'm using a self-made variation of Ringus (which I think is good for new TH9 in low trophy range), but Yango's base seems to work very well too.
Defiantly move it to the side, let them know theres no traps and thou shall get sniped. The best method is to stay logged in though. You can play 6hours before getting logged out for 5 minutes or getting attacked before the 5minutes are up.
